Beware what you sign up to!

Beware what you sign up to!
I started zoe with high hopes that it would change my life/ way of eating / weight and general health.
The app is the least user friendly I've ever tried. I've tried quite a few! It's laborious and inefficient.
It's an expensive way to eat. You need to be a cook and you can't even print off the in app recipes for a household member to cook (I'm disabled).
I have found the whole thing completely overwhelming with dreadful customer support often in the form of a bot chat. If the bot gives up and you click connect to agent, don't expect it to happen soon. If you don't respond with 24hrs, (because you've given up waiting and have a life) they close the chat and you're back to square one.
If you do get connected to a human, it's often not in real time. Telephone support is limited availability in time and only able to deal with limited subjects.
I've put weight on when I wanted to lose.
I can't begin to tell you how disappointed I am. I felt that something linked to Tim Spector would be far more streamlined and supportive. I'm disillusioned, disappointed and now have a bigger weight loss to face. I really tried and I'm not a stupid person!
Locked into a 12 month contract I can't get out of! BEWARE and to add insult to injury the 12 month contract is now £9.99 / month and I'm paying £25!
EDIT: READ THE 1 STAR REVIEWS.
The only offer made was to tie me in to another 12 months at the lower price! It's all about the money and they now can't even be bothered to answer reviews personally. Very sad!

I was sceptical at first

I was sceptical at first. I’m already a slim menopausal woman so was really just looking to feel better! I was so fed up bring 53 and feeling 73. Well I got better and more. Sleep getter, more energy. And I never stick to anything!

Unscrupulous exploitation of their original volunteers

I was a volunteer for their original PREDICT study and promised access to Zoe in return for 4 weeks of my life.

This was quickly revoked with the lame excuse ‘oh we sent you and email and you didn't respond’…

Quite shocking that a company builds a commercial enterprise on volunteers but then will not hold up their side of the bargain. Without volunteers they would not have a product.

Don’t support their exploitation by buying their product

So glad I joined the Zoe team !

It’s very very exciting , so interesting to watch my sugar levels etc, all tests done and can’t wait to get this journey started. Always have problems with stomach, bowel, tiredness and headaches. Cannot pinpoint myself which foods to eat or stay away from so will welcome this journey. A massive thank you to the whole team who have been supportive throughout my test day and a special thank you to Taylor who came to my rescue when I got a little stuck with a barcode - all sorted now and looking forward to my results and to the support going forward - a massive thank you

Completely unethical subscription…

Completely unethical subscription policy. Bought what I thought was the kit, however it turns out it was two subscriptions that came out of my bank every month. They charged my partner and I for 12 months, even though the kits had actually expired and were never used, which there was no warning on!

Refusal to offer any refund, despite product being unable to be used.

Very Competent and Friendly Customer Service

The customer advisor I spoke to today,
QAS, was very helpful in putting everything in place to allow me to go ahead with my ZOE testing.
I’m looking forward to beginning my testing knowing I have such competent customer service to help if I should need it again.

Read the one star reviews

Read the one star reviews - now all answered by “Zoe” in exactly the same way, with the exact same words. The first thirteen 1 star reviews all have exactly the same reply from “Zoe”. Before that somebody called Kourtney answered each negative review separately.
The reply from “The ZOE team” now is
“Thank you for sharing your feedback with us on Trustpilot. We are sorry to hear you’ve had a negative experience with ZOE. Please rest assured, we're here to help and we’re committed to resolving these issues you’ve encountered.

To discuss your concerns further, we kindly ask you that reach out to us at hello dot joinzoe dot com, with reference to your Trustpilot review, so our dedicated team can address your concerns directly.

We truly appreciate the time you've taken to share your experience with us, and we look forward to the opportunity to make things right.

Kindest regards,

I bought a Zoe kit more than 18 months ago and have not opened it yet, for personal reasons. From reading the 1 star reviews it looks like it will be a head banging exercise trying to contact “Zoe”.
Looking at the maths - 10% of 12000 is 1200 seriously negative reivews …
The Zoe idea is a good one. It is bizarre that whoever planned this exercise insisted on charging a monthly fee for a service, even when no longer being used. That is not just unfair and unethical - but seriously STUPID and very annoying to many of the 1200 leaving a negative review. WHO is responsible for this? Is it beyond the wit of the “Zoe team” to invent a button on their systems to stop taking money from people no longer using their services?
No?

Not allowing a list of do and don’t foods when leaving the programme was mean.

I joined when Zoe had just started up. I found the testing with formulated muffins very interesting but support was a bit hit and miss - you always spoke to someone different and there seemed to be no follow through. Additionally, whilst you are given a list of do or don’t foods this was only while you were on the programme; that really bugged me as the programme wasn’t cheap. I thought it was mean and as a result couldn’t recommend the programme to anyone.

Having hospital stay with Bacterial Meningitis in December decision made . Excellent introduction personalised and great App explanation of personalised results . 6 months on been easy to follow yet demanding at times . But jut had my retest gut tests . Everything improved so much . Enjoying variety of food nothing I will not try .Have a few holiday occasional off days but no guilt and soon back on my heathy favourites . Highly recommend to everyone and the podcast guests open up new longevity general health options too 😊

Disappointed

I had high expectations for ZOE, but the experience was underwhelming and felt more like a marketing exercise than a genuine scientific service.

The gut health results were generic and lacked the depth I was hoping for. Despite all the talk of personalization and advanced microbiome analysis, the recommendations were basic and borderline obvious — “Broccoli is good, salami is bad.” That level of advice could easily come from a wellness influencer’s YouTube channel, not a service positioning itself at the cutting edge of nutrition science.

One major downside is that the gut health test kit is only available with a subscription. You can’t simply buy the test, get your results, and move on — you’re locked into their ecosystem, which feels deliberately designed to keep you paying long-term. Worse still, much of the content and follow-up feels slanted toward promoting their own products and partners, which raises questions about objectivity.

Other companies offer similar (and in some cases, more detailed) microbiome testing without tying you into an expensive annual membership. With ZOE, I felt I was paying for branding, not breakthroughs.

If you’re looking for truly personalized gut health insights backed by clear, actionable science — I’d recommend exploring other options before committing to ZOE.

I contacted Zoe this morning as I was…

I contacted Zoe this morning as I was unable to start the programme on time and to make matters worse I did the early blood test wrong. I spoke with Toyin and Fin who were kind and helpful and have arranged for me to have another blood test and have added the extra days onto my plan.
Brilliant service. Thank you.

Can’t recommend Zoe enough. Amazing

I am nearly at the end of my study. I have found it so informative and eye opening. The blood sugar sensor has been amazing so you can see how different foods affect the blood sugars. I am so looking forward to receiving the data and also data on my gut. The key is to read all instructions carefully. The helpline have been so good.

Fantastic customer support

Fantastic customer support, Imogen was so helpful and couldn’t do enough. I had been worrying about the customer support side of things prior to starting and she alleviated those worries instantly with her efficiency. The app is very user friendly so overall a great experience.
