Location but bedbugs
Location, location, location. That's the reason to book a room at the Zedwell Piccadilly. The rooms themselves are spartan--a mattress on a low wooden platform, a frosted sliding glass door separating the sleeping area from the bathroom, and hard tile floors. There are no phones, TVs, or windows. It was fine as a solo. I wouldn't want to share a room with anyone, even my husband.
The staff were welcoming and friendly. I had read some previous reviews that mentioned charging for early check-in. I was willing to wait until 3, but the front desk clerk checked me in early without a charge. Some reviews also mentioned bedbugs. One of the first things I did was check the mattress carefully, peeling back the sheets and mattress pads. I did not find anything at first. But it did show that they could do a better job at cleaning the rooms. There's a particular nook about an inch wide where the bed's platform meets the wall that could use attention. The area around the buttons on the mattress and underneath the mattress also needed cleaning. One of my pet peeves is long stray hairs that didn't come from my head.
Unfortunately, I did find a bedbug when returning to the room after my afternoon of touring part of London. When I showed it to the front desk clerk, he claimed "It's just a fly." But he moved me to another room. The second one was down a maze, including having to go down stairs since the elevator did not service that portion of the hotel. It was even smaller than the first room. I found a cigarette butt under the mattress when checking it out and more stray hairs under there as well. When I showed him a photo, he agreed to move me to a third room. It was in a better location and was larger but still sparse.
The USB ports were great so that I could charge my cellphone. The rainfall shower felt great. The lack of a door or curtain between the shower and the rest of the bathroom meant that water was not contained to just the shower area. The hotel provides body wash and shampoo in the shower and liquid soap for the sink. I brought my own bar of soap and conditioner.
Housekeeping during my stay consisted of replacing the used towels and emptying the trash. It did not include making the bed or other cleaning that I could detect.
I wrote most of this review on TripAdvisor before discovering that bedbugs had traveled back home with me. I never heard back from the hotel when I contacted it. I finally got Priceline to refund 20%, which covered the costs of buying bedbug-proof covers for my mattress and box springs and spray to kill them. Fortunately, my remediation seems to have worked, and I have not had to pay more for a professional exterminator.

Disappointing stay with multiple issues
Our recent stay at Zedwell Underground Hotel Tottenham Court Road was highly unsatisfactory. Despite booking a Double Room, we were initially placed in a Triple Room without explanation. Later, we were moved to the correct Double Room without our consent, and our belongings were handled inappropriately—staff opened our bags to move items, despite our "Do Not Disturb" sign being displayed. This was a clear invasion of privacy. Additionally, our key card accessed another guest's room, causing a significant breach of privacy for both parties. The night manager (who was not wearing a name badge) promised to send video footage of the incident but failed to follow through. Communication from the staff was inconsistent, with the morning staff, including duty manager Janos Tar, claiming they had no contact information for us, even though Agoda had provided our contact details. The check-in process was also flawed—Abi, who checked us in, should have confirmed our contact details and room type. Overall, the lack of professionalism, privacy breaches, and poor communication made our stay extremely frustrating. I will certainly not be staying here again and would advise future guests to be cautious and ensure all details are confirmed upon check-in to avoid similar issues.

The worst hotel I've ever in my life…
The worst hotel I've ever in my life stayed in, and extremely expensive. Our room had mattresses on the floor, and a toilet with glass walls in the middle of the room with no privacy at all, the room had no table or any place to put your things we had to lay everything on the floor, the hallway leading to our room was dark dirty and scary, there was a bucket outside our bedroom door collecting water from the ceiling, they were charging 15 pound to store our bags for 1 hour and also check out is at the earlier time of 10am and a 50 pound late check out fee applies if you check out later than that, overall a horrible experience, a cheap hotel for very extortionate prices

Absolutely dreadful customer service
Trying to get hold of customer service is a nightmare! I have stayed at the Zedwell quite a number of times for work. I made a booking for 1 night and then tried to extend the stay by an additional 2 nights. I mistakenly got my dates mixed up and when I eventually got through by phone (customer service only operates Mon - Fri 9am to 5.30pm) I was told that to change the booking would be £180 plus £50 admin charge, I had already paid over £400 for 2 nights. I was also on hold for over 30mins. After my next stay which is next week I will not be staying here again. I will also inform my companies travel booking company to block this hotel.

Overrun with Bed Bugs at Zedwell Piccadilly
The Zedwell Piccadilly is infested with Bedbugs. There were 7 of us in a room and all came away with multiple bites. We noticed the bugs in the morning unfortunately and the infestation is completely out of control. The bugs are huge and there are loads of them. If you look at the reviews for this hotel people have been complaining about Bedbugs for months and yet the hotel keeps booking people into these infested rooms.
I am covered from head to toe with over 50 bites and have had to take time off work as a result.
When we spoke to the desk they did offer to steam our luggage so they are 'prepared' and know this is a problem.
When we arrived they said we had to wait 1 hour as our room was not clean, so the 3pm check in became 4.30pm check in. They put us in a tiny room so 7 of us could get ready, not ideal. They why we paid for the big room. Overall it's outrageous, unhygienic and completely infested. Stay elsewhere to literally save you skin!

Hotelværelset var uden vinduer
The hotel room was windowless, and located in some dark claustrophobic corridors, the room was completely without furniture, no shelves, bedside table, chairs or tables, nothing, not a shelf in the bathroom, 2 hooks for the 2 people who were supposed to stay there. Not even a toilet brush.
So the suitcase and clothes had to be put on the floor.
It's fine with such a concept to keep prices down, but then you have to disclose it on the website.
Incidentally, the bed linen had not been changed, but smoothed out, unfortunately they had overlooked some long black hairs, it was then changed with a poor excuse.
Breakfast is taken at what is the disco in the evening, floors and tables are extremely greasy and sticky.
I have stayed in many hotels in London and this is the worst I have ever experienced and it wasn't cheap Hotel.

AVOID!
AVOID!
A far from pleasant welcome! We arrived 40 minutes before our room was due to be vacated and simply wanted to drop off our suitcases, but for only 40 minutes they charged us €40. We had no choice but to pay.
Once in the room, we were greeted by an unpleasant smell, and the Wi-Fi kept disconnecting. As for the noise of the metro passing right next door, rattling the walls, it made sleep difficult, to say the least!
We asked for a late check-out, and were told that check-out was at 10am, with a €50 surcharge for staying until midday. What's more, we had to pay €15 per piece of luggage if we wished to leave it at the hotel while we wandered around town! Since when does a hotel charge to store its guests' luggage? This is unacceptable!

I never seen so small a hotel room
I never seen so small a hotel room. It was clean yes.
But no closets, no shelves , nothing to put your things in. We had to lets all our stuff in the suitcase.
The toilet was right close to the bedroom only with a thin and open wall.
No window. We had to go in a kind of labyrinth to find the room.

So much cheaper than every where else
So much cheaper than every where else.
Cant really understand why people complain so much about this place. The night we stayed there it was over 50 quid cheaper than anywhere else and we stayed in piccadilly circus. If you are looking for somewhere to just sleep, wakeup and leave then this place is the perfect place.
Staying here lets you save your money for the important things, like shopping!

Ground level minus 4 floors. Tick.
Ground level minus 4 floors turned out to be something of a pleasant surprise.
The hotel was spotlessly clean.
Reception staff were working very hard to make everything run smoothly for us and other guests checking in at the same time.
No street noise.
Super acoustic insulation prevented noise leak from the corridor and adjacent rooms (neighbour's door closing and foot fall in the corridor was audible but not loud).
Being on roughly the same level as the London Underground meant we heard the distant rumble of passing trains, but even in the stillness and quiet of the middle of the night, it was barely audible, and absolutely not intrusive at all.
Super comfortable bed.
Towels and shower gel, soap etc provided.
Shower was excellent, though not quite as hot in the morning as it had been the previous evening, but was still more than warm enough.
Adjustable air conditioning/fresh air system was audible but not intrusive, and kept the room fresh and at the perfect temperature.
Our double room (Cocoon 2) had 2 hooks for coats but nowhere else to hang clothes or places suitcases or clothing, so had to be laid on the floor.
Other than those mentioned above - no complaints, and would definitely stay there again.
2 minute walk from Tottenham Court Road stations.
Complimentary tea and coffee available in the reception area, along with comfortable seating.

BED BUGS!
I stayed here recently on a business trip and the room was infested with BED BUGS and had blood on the wall.
After the first night I had a few red marks on my skin. Didn't think much of it and ignored it. Then during the second night I woke up and was covered in bed bug bites. I went to reception and the staff didn't really care. They said they could move me rooms for the remainder of the night, and handed me a tin of bed bug killer spray and a pack of antibac wipes (which won't work on bed bugs anyway). I'm apparently allergic to bed bug bites which is why they now look so bad.
The member of staff came to my room to check it and when he moved the mattress there was BLOOD STAINS in the corner. He also let slip that there had been a bed bug problem lately but it had been sorted.
The staff and management don't really care. I had asked for a refund and all they offered me was 10% off my next stay.
I absolutely would not stay here again!

Avoid this hotel like the plague
Avoid this hotel like the plague. Minimalist is an understatement to what this place is. The rooms were glorified walk-in closets, with a bed, toilet, and shower, merely separated by a see through glass slide door. No room for suitcases, or sitting, or standing for that matter. The lack of amenities is explained by the hotel as emphasizing the importance of sleep, but they take it to a whole new level by denying you of natural light, hair dryers, TVs, cups, privacy, and just about anything else you would expect a hotel to provide. Our room did not have those purple lights around the bed as shown in pictures online. To be fair, the sleep was good. If you experience claustrophobia, do not come to this hotel.
Location is good though, to be fair, if you are into night life and touristy areas it's right in the center of all of that. Tube station right near.
Check-out was early, and check-in was late, they overcharge for holding bags, so the hotel loby looked like a fancy refugee camp, with tens of people camping out with their suitcases on the floors for hours.

Stay away
I don’t even know where to start. What you see is definitely what you get. The smallest room we’ve ever stayed in. There’s no room for your bags, clothes, shoes or whatever you have with you, so the “clean” and “minimalistic” vibe they obviously want, gets ruined by the fact that your stuff is going to take up all of the smallest area of floor🤣.
They provide you with nothing else but a mattress on the floor, one blanket, and two pillows. We also had to ask for towels.
If your planning to stay there with a significant other, and you’re not comfortable with going to the toilet while they can hear you, find another place. No sound isolation at all.
The fact that there’s no windows either, and taken that the rooms are so small, it feels like you’re staying in a cellar.
Other than that, if you want a hairdryer, you’re gonna have to pay for that. I also read in another review that you had to pay for them to store your luggage, because there were no space for it in their room.
All in all, this was one big disappointment, and we would only recommend staying here if it’s for one night.
The door stopper was also broken, and there was a big hole on the water hose, so water got everywhere.

OK this hotel is a new experience for…
OK this hotel is a new experience for me. Reading the reviews on here i was frankly dreading arriving here. Firstly, do your homework if you want 4 star hotel go to one. I arrived the staff could not have been friendlier and helpful. I had trouble printing my room key young man helped me. I managed everything else on my own(checking in). Anyway found the lifts there are 8 cars in total, found my room. I requested a disabled room, I have got one. The room is very clean, has all the towels I need they are clean. 3 loo rolls excellent walk in shower for me so I'm safe here on my own. The bed is 8 foot wide could sleep three easily 😆 has pull cords for emergency.. only small issue is that the USB charger are behind the mattress. For the price I have paid for the location to The Gielgud Theatre in Shaftsbury Ave for later is excellent. I cannot walk very far these days. Piccadilly Station outside 50 metres for Bakerloo line to get me back to Waterloo in the morning. I researched this place and for me it's great for 1 or 2 nights. Do not believe all of the complaints written here most are down right wrong and it is a shame..I would definitely stay here again but only for a few nights.

Taken money twice & not refunded for 2 months
I booked a room on the 20th September, there was an issue with their direct booking system and I was charged twice, despite several phone calls and an assurance that someone would call me and organise a refund I am yet to receive a call, an email or an explanation. I would not stay here again. No customer service or satisfaction. Nearly 2 months have passed and still no response from the hotel.

Very bad hotel
Very bad hotel. No basic things provided like iron, dryer and i had to pay that to get those things. And in the morning when i needed the hair dryer to work it didn’t. Asked for a refund and they said we cannot do it here. It will have to come from their head office and they dont know how long it will take for that. Bad experience. Rooms are small and all in the basement with no tv. Felt like I was in a grave. No windows. I wont be going there again. Pillows were really uncomfortable. Please dont waste your money here

Dirty, unhygienic rooms
Dirty, dirty rooms with walls furry with dust and dust and dirt piles in every corner. Floors clearly dirty with black spots in areas around fixtures and walls. Have told the staff twice but they seem not to care - since much of the issue could be solved with a simple vacuuming of the floors. Instead a dirty cloth has been dragged over mirror and fosset. Location and concept great but necessary cleaning is nonexistent.
