It was terrible experience.

It was terrible! terrible! experience to fly with Turkish. One of my luggages didn't arrived from Istanbul and one luggage arrived missing one wheel. On the top of this, the flight was delayed for two and half hours. It was 1 stop flight, so we had to wait 8 hours to catch next conneted flight. Traveled with 7 years old. Imagine how it was! When we requested accomodation, we had option to take 1 hour away hotel room to go by bus. Hell no! when I asked why is this happening, agent said she doesn't know. WHAT??? I basically missed one full day to spent with family, while paid with PTO from work. They provided 10 Euro worth meal coupon per person. I sthis Joking? When I asked proper compensation later on, they told me to go throught their claim site. Their reply said it was due to technical issue and not eligible for compensation. I don't recommend this airline to any one.

Turkish Airlines Misleading Customers and Withholding Refunds

I am a U.S. citizen who purchased a round‑trip ticket with Turkish Airlines (PNR SA7GFM) for USD 1,371.21, including the return segment TAS–IST–JFK on September 7. I contacted them more than two months before the flight to add two children, but they quoted me several times more than the cost of purchasing three new tickets with another airline—so I had to cancel and buy three cheaper tickets elsewhere.

When I later requested a partial refund for the unused return segment, they denied it, saying the fare was "non‑refundable" and wouldn’t even issue a voucher or credit. Nobody made any effort to resolve the issue or offer alternatives—just a formal refusal. At no point during purchase was it clearly disclosed that the fare was non‑refundable; only a vague mention of a cancellation fee.

In effect, they take money for services they don’t provide, exploit passengers, and cut costs by failing to support customers. Other airlines offer genuine service and flexible options—Turkish Airlines does not. Please consider your passengers—they deserve better from a company with a global reputation.
Unfortunately, I've filed a complaint with the DOT. I do not recommend Turkish Airlines to anyone seeking honesty, respect, and support during difficult times.

Terrible Experience – Discriminatory Treatment Towards Pregnant Passenger

I had an absolutely terrible experience with Turkish Airlines. As a pregnant passenger, I had a Fit-to-Fly certificate from a doctor in London, but when I arrived at the airport, they denied me boarding with no clear reason. Instead, they insisted I get a new certificate at the airport and charged me $400 USD for it—no receipt, no explanation. It felt like a scam.

If that wasn’t bad enough, they canceled my flight, moved it an hour later, and changed our seats—despite me paying extra for specific seats. We were moved all the way to the back of the plane, and I felt completely ignored and disrespected.

The whole situation caused me an immense amount of stress and anxiety. I should have been able to focus on my health and travel, but instead, I was left scrambling to find solutions and spending more money. To top it off, I was never refunded the $400 fee, which was completely unnecessary.

Honestly, I’m beyond disappointed with Turkish Airlines. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone, especially pregnant passengers or anyone in a vulnerable situation. They showed no empathy or professionalism, and I’ll never fly with them again.

Extremely poor service. Would not recommend

I will never again travel with Turkish Airlines

In flight experience was mediocre.
My major problem is that it is impossible to get through to a person and the on line complaints procedure reminds me of a fairground or a circus. No possibility of reaching a real person.
A whole planeload of baggage not arriving on the correct plane seem to be a frequent occurrence. when baggage is delayed it is impossible to claim any compensation for any expenses they have caused me. I am not at all satisfied and will not be travelling with Turkish Airlines ever again. They do not even know how to apologise and seem to have no understanding of customer service.

Avoid like the plague!

London to Cyprus with transfer in Istanbul. Worst airline, worst customer service, rude flight attendants, Istanbul airport staff kicked off aggressively when I asked about directions to transfer gates and mispronounced Ercan with a 'k' instead of 'dj'! Despite having paid for seat selection for myself and my wife, we were put in complete different seats apart from each other on outbound and return flights.
Significant delay in return flights. Istanbul airport is a big scam, with only purpose designed to drain your pocket, while being treated like second class citizens. Avoid the airline and above all avoid transfers at Istanbul at all cost!!

Absolutely Disgraceful Service – Never Flying Turkish Airlines Again

I am extremely disappointed with Turkish Airlines and feel compelled to share my experience.
I flew business class from Ghana to Prague, with a tight 1-hour connection in Istanbul. I barely made the connecting flight, but of course, my luggage didn’t. When it was finally delivered, both suitcases were badly damaged.
I filed a baggage claim on May 14th, and now it's July — still NO response from Turkish Airlines. I’ve sent multiple follow-up emails, and they have completely ignored every single one. This is unacceptable, especially for a business class passenger.
Their customer service is appalling. For an airline that claims to be world-class, their handling of baggage issues and customer care is truly shameful.
I will never fly Turkish Airlines again. I’m going back to KLM, where I’ve always received reliable service and proper support.
Turkish Airlines needs to take responsibility and compensate for the two destroyed bags. This level of negligence and disregard for paying customers is inexcusable.

I would give 0 stars if I could

I would give 0 stars if I could

I've been trying to explain our situation (which is a problem created by their awful software) by creating a feedback (as instructed by their calll centre) for more than a week. Each one of them gets shut down with the same template answer.

Awful awful awful. In my 20hs of travelling and moving countries. This probably is the worst airline I ever used. And I used really bad ones before.

Scandalous airline

Scandalous airline. Very decent onboard experience, great variety of routes. But absolute contempt for their customers. I was flying Hanoi-Dublin and needed to check an extra suitcase after I had booked the original flight. 645 euro for one extra 25kgs suitcase. I thought it was a mistake. I double-checked. No, this is real and actually legal. Zero flexibility. Also, trying to cancel flights - again, incredibly inflexible. I will never fly with them again and I advise you not to also if there is any alternative.

Terrible customer service from Turkish…

Terrible customer service from Turkish Airlines – NEVER AGAIN!

I am extremely disappointed with Turkish Airlines. My luggage was clearly damaged during the flight, and when I filed a complaint afterward, it was flat-out rejected because I didn’t report it immediately at the Lost & Found desk before leaving the baggage claim area. Are you serious?

After a long and exhausting flight, the last thing you think about is bureaucracy – you just want to go home. But instead of support, I received a cold, copy-paste response: “Your claim cannot be processed due to the lack of a report.”

This is not customer service – it’s a complete lack of accountability. The damage was visible, documented, and clearly caused by mishandling during transport, yet Turkish Airlines refuses to take any responsibility.

I used to think Turkish Airlines was a reputable airline, but after this experience, it’s clear they care more about rules and technicalities than their passengers.

That was my last flight with them.

Advice to all travelers: Take photos of your luggage at the airport and report every scratch immediately – or better yet, choose an airline that actually cares about its customers.

Rescheduling of flight

I missed my flight that was scheduled today 02/07/25, from Birmingham to Douala, Cameroon, due to an incident on the M69 motorway which caused a severe delay of over an hour. Despite reaching the airport just before the check in desks closed, it was not possible to check me and my son in.
On my way to the airport, when I encountered the motor way situation, I made contact with Turkish Airlines contact centre and I was advised to raise a feedback, which I did. I got a response for the feedback I raised to call a 08503330849, which appears to be a premium number, I have dialed using my phone and the phone of other family member, but it is not working, it beeps and ends when a call is made.
Since I missed the flight I have been trying to get through to Turkish Airlines to reschedule another flight with no success as no one has gotten in touch with me yet to reschedule my ticket. I have made several calls to the call centre but I keep receiving the same response, to wait for someone to contact me. It is already 7pm and yet no response from Turkish Airlines despite my ticket qualifying for a reschedule.

Myself and my son are travelling to Douala Cameroon for a family wedding, taking place from Thursday 3rd july 2025 to Saturday 5th, we have key roles to play at the wedding which is the main purpose for us to travel to Cameroon.

It is indeed very frustrating not getting any information or response from Turkish Airlines about rescheduling my ticket despite all my efforts since morning.
There appear to be no one to address the situation.
I feel frustrated, disappointed in the dark, hoping this will be sorted ASAP.

Delayed 10 hours, missed several connection; customer service first refuses, then offers miles, then starts calling repeatedly, instead of proper reimbursement

My flight from Berlin to Kuala Lumpur with Turkish Airlines was delayed due to a fault on Turkish’s part, causing me to miss my connection in Istanbul. I arrived more than 10 hours late and lost my onward flight to Vietnam as well as my prepaid hotel in Hoi An.

The customer service desk in Istanbul was courteous and assured me that all expenses — including my missed flight, hotels, the now-useless prior booking as well as delay compensation — would naturally be reimbursed.

I submitted full documentation: clear explanations, all receipts, and a formal claim under EU Regulation EC261/2004 (which clearly applies here). Turkish first rejected everything with vague language, then in my second attempt offered me 36,000 frequent flyer miles — which doesn’t begin to cover either the expenses or the €600 in legal compensation. Since then, they’ve started calling me repeatedly, proposing some unspecified “special offer,” despite my clear request for a proper written response and resolution. Their last email, demanding I respond within 48 hours, didn’t acknowledge any of my points and left a rather evasive and unprofessional impression.

I’ve been calm, cooperative, and patient throughout. What I’m asking for is simply what every EU-based traveller is legally entitled to: €600 compensation under EC261, and reimbursement of incurred expenses. I was assured this would be honoured — but Turkish is now acting worse than a budget airline.

As a frequent flyer on the Germany–Southeast Asia route, I see no reason to fly with Turkish again when there are better alternatives: Singapore, Qatar, Etihad, KLM, Lufthansa, and others. This process has been one long exercise in avoidance and wasted time.

I’d gladly update this review if Turkish resolves the matter professionally — but for now, that’s up to them.

18 hours delay, but no financial compensation. They do not respect their own laws (SHY passenger rights).

Although through none of my fault, I arrived at the destination more then 18 hours late, after missing the connecting flight, being booked the following day for the second leg flight and sleeping in the airport. I've sent the following request and they acknowledged their fault, but had given me only miles as compensation. I've also written to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, but they have an impossible site for complaints. I will also write them on their social media pages.
Dear Turkish Airlines Customer Relations Team,
I am writing to formally request compensation under the SHY-Passenger Regulation for a significant delay affecting my itinerary on May 5–6, 2025.
My reservation code is U8LYIJ, which included the following segments:
• Flight TK51: Departure from Tokyo (NRT) to Istanbul (IST) on May 5, 2025
• Flight TK1045: Scheduled connecting flight from Istanbul (IST) to Bucharest (OTP) on May 5, 2025
Due to a delay in the initial flight TK51, I missed the original connection TK1045. Turkish Airlines rebooked me on TK1039, which departed on May 6, 2025, and I ultimately arrived in Bucharest with a delay of more than 18 hours compared to the original itinerary.
Under SHY-Passenger Regulation, I am entitled to compensation for this delay, as:
• The total delay at final destination (OTP) exceeded 18 hours
• The cause was not due to extraordinary circumstances beyond the airline’s control
• The re-routing resulted in an arrival time significantly later than initially scheduled
Therefore, I kindly request financial compensation in accordance with the provisions of the SHY regulation.
Please find below my flight and passenger details:
• Name: Gabriel Ovidiu Vanau
• Reservation Code: U8LYIJ
• Original Flights: TK51 (May 5), TK1045 (May 5)
• Actual Flights: TK51 (delayed), TK1039 (May 6)
• Total Delay at Arrival: 18 hours and 45 minutes
Kind regards,
Gabriel Vanau

Me and my wife had tickets and boarding…

Me and my wife had tickets and boarding pass for TK1933 from Istanbul to London on 23/06/2025 at 14:50 pm, while scapping from war between Iran and Israel They denied our entry to the plane, saying we were late, however people were still boarding , we rrived 25 minutes before flight time and it costed me another £450.00. We were not late and even the supervisor spoke with the crew before issuing a boarding pass for us, and the crew said they will wait for us, but they did not. People are robbed by this airline and by the food and beverage sellers at the airport, very bad experience. Sook support for a refund, but got nowhere. DO NOT FLY WITH THEM.....

Be careful, I think they take your money to tie you in then chnage everything

I made a booking last Wednesday 25th June 2025, operator was helpful offering several different options for flights and accommodation and I made a booking that very day.
Next day I get an email to say the 5* hotel which i had chosen was unavailable so 'at their cost' they would offer me a suitable alternative.
Shocking the alternative is a downgrade, so much for at their expense.
I have been speaking to them insisting a better alternative or the same even offering to upgrade as the hotel meet all my needs but to date nothing.
I don't think the hotel was available, they just took the money to tie me in now I am stuck as if I book outside the tickets and costs have gone up.
Ruined my holiday as I am meant to fly out Thursday 3rd July yet I don't know where I will be staying.
Just called them again, still working on getting a hotel, surprised as I see lots on other booking sites.
Unless this is sorted I would not recommend them.
Will update review when I get an outcome.

Terrible customer service following a 4 hour delay

The actual flight was fine and we were given ample vouchers for refreshments during our 4 hour delay in Istanbul on our way to Mauritius We know we are legally entitled to monetary compensation for the delay However I have contacted Turkish Airlines on 3 occSions And each time it's obvious they are not reading my feedback form They have offered us air miles on 3 occasions even although I have informed them that air miles are useless to us.Due to our age etc we are highly unlikely to be flying again in the foreseeable future and want to know when they are going to follow legal guidelines and pay us the compensation for the 4 hour delay

Denied boarding under false pretense — cost me $ and time, no resolution

I was denied boarding on TK3 (Istanbul to JFK, 6/17/2025) with the claim that there was a U.S. APIS system failure. This was not the case — Turkish Airlines rebooked me on TK11 with the exact same documents. As a result, I was delayed over 11 hours, incurred $150+ in additional costs (visa, taxi), and missed a $2,000 business meeting.

I’ve filed formal complaints with the U.S. DOT, Turkey’s aviation authority, and sent demand letters — no meaningful response so far. I hope Turkish Airlines takes accountability and provides compensation for the harm caused.
