A waste of time and money. Six months and still nothing.
My incident happened in late January. I filed right away and didn't hear anything for weeks. In March they asked for more documents, which I had already sent -- credit card statements, proof of delay, etc. So I sent it all again and heard nothing for months. In July I received a request for the same thing. They design their emails to be as useless as possible, without providing a link to your claim, or even your claim number. I am assuming at this point that they are just running out the clock so they don't have to pay me. It seems to be a total scam.

The claims process is very slow and the communications is poor. I purchased this Insurance based on the high ratings, but my experience with a claim has been poor. First, they require a great deal of info which I provided, said I would hear back. Waited a week and nothing. I called and was told screenshots of my payments were not good enough I needed bank statements. So I provided bank statements. Called back to make sure they were received and was told the process takes 30-60 days, which is absolutely ridiculous. I would not recommend any service that takes that long to process a claim. I am fearful they will now come back and tell me I am missing something again. Based on my experience I would recommend buying travel insurance from someone other than Trawick.

Common sense and fairness do not apply.
Trying to settle a claim with Trawick is one of the most disappointing experiences I have had in my 74 years on this planet.
I am convinced that Trawick operates in bad faith and without an ethical compass. I will never consider doing business with them again, and I urge you to find an alternative provider for your travel insurance needs.
Their CEO, Daryl Trawick, provides a video on the company’s Web site. In it, he talks about how Trawick is dedicated to instilling in the organization an attitude of putting the customer first. My experience is that customers are treated as merely suckers. We pay for insurance in good faith and receive obfuscation and denials in return.
After purchasing travel insurance through Trawick several months prior to my trip, I filed a modest claim for $300. My local airport was closed due to a hurricane, and I was unable to fly home from a European trip. Instead of taking the typical and conventional offer of being put on the next flight to my airport (which opened three days later), I managed to fly to a different airport on the other side of the state, then I rented a car to get home in the middle of the night. By not waiting for the next flight to my home airport, I saved Trawick at least $1,000; however, they would not reimburse me for the car rental because I was not delayed at least 12 hours before getting home.
It took over six months and ten calls to obtain the initial denial. During those six months, Trawick/Surego assured me 3-4 times that they had escalated the matter to supervisors. In retrospect, those promises of escalations were merely bad faith palliatives to get me off the phone. As so many others on this thread have stated, waiting six months for a determination is simply unacceptable.
I appealed the denial, only to receive a second denial that was merely a verbatim rendering of the first. Instead of addressing my concerns, the denial simply read…..”but, but, but…12 hours”.
I then wrote to CEO Daryl Trawick, asking for his personal attention. A few weeks later, I received a third verbatim denial letter. Once again, “but, but, but…12 hours.”
In sum, I found no customer service, no attitude of putting the customer first, no attempt at timely responses to a claim (six months? Really?), and no desire to address the fact that I had saved Trawick $1,000 by my actions. If there is even a sliver of contractual language that enables Trawick to deny a claim, rest assured they will find it. Common sense and fairness do not apply.

They didn't pay my easy claim
I purchased travel insurance for a cruise from Trawick ($953). During the cruise, I required medical attention for a non-pre-existing occurrence and follow-up care, provided by the ship doctors, for which I paid directly. I submitted this straightforward claim to Trawick with all documentation. After 6 months, they don't even answer my emails and of course haven't reimbursed my expenses. If you like gambling, use Trawick. If you want peace of mind, choose another company.

Exasperating!!! Lousy software. The agent admitted it was lousy and spits back the same questions. I have received 5 identical requests for more information. I don’t know what they want. They should not be in business. A waste of $1550.

Trawick/surego is horrible …do not buy their products. They refuse to settle my claim and keep asking for the same information over and over again. I’ve given them exactly what they’ve asked for and they just refuse to settle. “We don’t accept screen shots send the original email” , You send it and they ask for it again and again …they are criminals !

Do Not Use SureGo or Trawick
Just like many other reviewers, I waited way too long for my claim to be resolved. I called and emailed many times over many months and was told claims department was "behind" Yeah! It took about 9 months for me to finally get my check for our trip delay from LAST YEAR'S vacation. The company needs to hire more people. I actually got the insurance through Surego but called the Trawick phone number. Steer clear of either company!

They've had my claim for 80+ days
They've had my claim for 80+ days. I am a lawyer so all medical and travel documentation was provided. My wife was injured, we had to trip cancel. Her travel insurance with World Nomads was paid exactly 10 days after we provided them with the same documentation we gave to Trawick. I had to insure with Trawick which promotes their insurance for those over 70 years old. I will never insure with them again, and I recommend you don't either. Posted 6/16/2026

Excellent customer service received on a Sunday
Excellent customer service received when I called after noticing a possible error made when booking online, Sunday afternoon and most businesses are closed, I was able to call and no wait, was assisted by "Mary Blythe Santander" very kind and knowledgeable, who reassured me of worldwide coverage for my cruise and instantly updated policy to list the Country name in question and reassure my concerns, I highly recommend this company, we have used them numerous times before and no complaints at all. Thank you for your Professional and Courteous service during a weekend day !

Trawick delayed, denied claim
Trawick insured our trip to France last year, which was cut short by severe bronchitis. It took 10 months, and getting our state insurance commissioner involved, to finally settle our claim. Trawick made it extremely difficult to communicate with them, lost our paperwork, repeatedly delayed taking any action, and refused to honor the policy's promised coverage. After 10 months, we had a two inch high file of the paperwork required to settle our claim. We would NEVER do business with Trawick again!

Had used this company several times for the price,protection and the reviews. First time we had a claim which was this January 16. The claims department claims they are handling too many claims from airline reservations. It is now June. I would have to say that this company is a scam.

7 months and still no check
My wife was treated for an injury on a cruise ship. We submitted claim forms and a detailed report on the injury, diagnosis, treatment, and the amount paid mid-November 2024. We heard nothing for four months. No one answered emails, the phone, or returned calls. After four months we dealt with Squaremouth (Zero Complaints, a joke), and finally heard that Trawick had been purchased and they were behind in handling claims. Really? After another month, Trawick demanded doctor's notes and other extraneous paperwork in addition to the detailed report already submitted. After some difficulty, we acquired the paperwork and submitted it. After another month, we were notified that the claim would be paid. Oh yeah.... another 20-25 days to send the check, they say. I'll never use Trawick or a company represented by Squaremouth again. Beware!
