No one likes paying taxes
No one likes paying taxes, so it can be hard to be objective on these types of reviews, but I think that TaxesforExpats does a pretty good job overall. Their platform is easy to use, and being able to copy over previous year's tax information makes it very fast. I have heard conflicting information though regarding a certain form that they request - I called their support and was told I wouldn't need it, and was told the same by an external accountant, but Taxes for Expats added it to my account again this year. They allow me to opt out of them filing it for me, but it seems strange to me that there's not a consistent answer, even in their own team, about whether or not the form is required. Their fees are reasonable - I've been quoted higher and lower for the forms that I require, so I guess they are middle-of-the road, but the quick and easy online forms definitely make the price worth it.

TFX makes filing US taxes simple
I have been using TFX for the past several years to do my US tax returns. The customer experience has always been excellent. The turnaround time is very quick from the time of completing the tax questionnaire to final return filing. The fact that you can copy over details from one year to the next also makes using TFX very simple. I highly recommend TFX to any US expats.

Very professional, knowledge of global tax issues for expats of course, amazing response time, and patience when I couldn't get back to them for up to 2-3 weeks during busy work/travel periods of my own. I also had (more/less) my own tax advisor and got to know him via our text/web exchanges. You won't be getting a firm that shuffles you around from day-to-day.
Highly recommended. Fees are fair and transparent from the start of the process.

Not worth the expense/low value
I’ve used TFX for some years now; the initial filings went well and were a good value. The last two years I’ve had massive mistakes in my returns that I found—each would have resulted in me paying more tax than required.
When you pay $1000 for tax prep and the TFX accountants can’t get it right without your in depth review and tax law research you are paying the wrong company for your tax prep. I will no longer use TFX and suggest you don’t either.

Don't stand by their service
I'm really disappointed with TaxesforExpats. They made an error in my tax return and now I owe the IRS $1,500 in fines. I've asked them to reimburse me out of the fees I paid them for the year in question and they've offered me a $200 credit. That's unacceptable. I would expect them to stand by their service.
