Alford Ambulance Service.

Alford Ambulance Service.
The three guy crew of this ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, on Tuesday evening were very kind and helpful and despite things being a bit traumatic for me I was treated with a lot more consideration than I was at the hospital, where I was barely treated as human

Yeah I will after the dentist emergency.
When is generational curse gonna leave humanity not valued or s f all.
No wonder people are running to private care had enough of it!

They are some amazing great call handlers sadly it's letting the great ones down due to unhealthy ones.

It's ridiculous why do we even have a national health system out of hours. If nobody is aloud to use it say the woman who said to me! Refusing me a call back of a GP.

Appalling wait time for call answering

Trying to do the right thing by calling NHS24 first before fronting up to hospital. However, with a 96 MINUTE WAIT time for call to be initially answered forget it. Will just present myself to hospital and join queue there.

Have waited over 5 hours to see a neurologist at A&E after a bad seizure and still waiting

The Scottish Government have the highest taxes in the UK and yet still provide a shambolic health care system that is not fit for purpose. We must boot SNP out as quickly as possible.

Waited 10 hours and more for my daughter to be reviewed by doctor or nurse practitioner for a prescription of antibiotic. NHS 24 Lanarkshire is absolutely shambolic . Totally disgusted . I myself am a nurse but unable to prescribe her an antibiotic. NHS appears to be on its knees. Doesn’t seem to be anyone within NHS that can prescribe. Also wait 2 hours on telephone for someone to answer
Have a niece who is a charge nurse in A& E . Her mother waited 20 minutes to be seen by
Consultant . In that time her mother had a CT scan . Absolutely raging that this can be done and yet my daughter has to wait more than 10 hours for an antibiotic

Disgraceful

A few weeks ago I was hanging over a bridge, due to having suicidal thoughts and police Scotland contacted nhs24 and they phoned me, a female call handler rang my mobile and asked what is distressing me, I told her I'm not getting the help I need by my gp and mental health services and then she told me to contact these people as if she was reading a script, I ended up self harming that night because of how inhumanely I was treated and an nhs 24 nurse phoned me a few days ago to discuss my complaint and she was telling me it's my fault and I then sent an email to the chief executive and he has ignored me, this organisation should learn how to treat patients, especially those who are mentally ill

An NHS 24 Survival Guide

If you are an "Out of Hours Urgent" looking to get some free medical advice then are couple of things you can do.

1) Ask a medical friend
2) Use "Google"

Do not ,under any circumstances, phone NHS 24 looking for urgent medical advice.
They have no legal accountability for failings in professional standards.
What goes on at NHS 24 stays at NHS 24.

NHS 24 is the "sorting office" for access to "Out Of Hours" health care, including "Urgents".
If , out of anxiety, you make the mistake of phoning NHS 24 you should terminate the call as soon as you understand that, due to no nurse being available, you won't be getting a "clinical supervision " speaking directly with a nurse.
Don't be fobbed off with the call handler.
Call handlers have no medical qualifications or experience. They have no medical knowledge or insight and merely ask scripted questions.
When the call handler says "I would speak to the nurse for you. " then you must say its definitely not acceptable and you want to speak directly with a nurse.
If the call handler then suggests a call back from a nurse then you should say your Urgent and cannot wait indefinitely for a call back.
You may well be dead by the time it takes for a call back.
Its time to realise that " no nurse available" NHS 24 have failed you.
You should terminate the call.

NHS 24 is the service from Hell.
They do not adhere to professional standards.
They use "Codes of Practise" to wipe their backsides.
NHS 24 are circus clowns.

Try to get to A@E.
If you can't manage to get to A@E then phone 999.

NHS 24 is for pimples and plooks. Not Urgents.

Hope this helps

NHS 24

Condescending, I don’t have health insurance and am reliant on the NHS, I am sure there will be good staff and bad staff. I just hope I can be lucky, it is a very horrible experience being so scared and ill.

Another scam

Abolis the trade unions we pay for it so have evey right for a refrendum on it. Then after those pig squallers are gone set about putting every aspect up for public debate and direct public vote. NHS 24 is run and man by narcasisits who enjoy reading from a scipt usually Glasgow see you jimmy types who would fall apart like a sack of soft spuds if they had to face a texan in a fight. Bankrolled and spoilt by the state the public has no say the MP's either defund or stupidly fund the NHS the end result first polit and emergency services get penuts while the managers get triple locked salaries . MP's and MSP's have access to private health care and for loads of treatments can bill the tax payer. Utter garbage just like NHS 24 . More jobs for jobs worths the minute the tax payer gets a direct say the party will stop .

I had the unfortunate occasion to have to phone NHS24 late yesterday afternoon. Spoke with Norman call handler who was efficient with a pleasant manner. I was then passed to ANP sorry no name but she was equally as nice and understanding and professional. I then had to wait on a clinician who called around 7pm I think his name was Gary. Again, nothing was a bother he understood and I felt listened to. Remember all these negative reviews have two sides to the story. The system works well if used appropriately.
Thank you to the team who deal with myself.

Rude

Phoned up after a sudden onset of fever , headaches and fatigue following a bad mtb accident earlier in the week.
Both the initial call handler and the nurse both spoke to me very condescendingly and not in a professional manner at all.
Terrible, find another job that your not dealing with public with that kind of attitude

No wonder there's a health crisis

No wonder there's a health crisis, everything the government puts in place is designed to fob you off. Tried to call NHS 24 for non life threatening advice, you have to listen to all the blurb and nonsense redirecting you here and there, then the automated message says (its 8.04am) because responsibility during this time lies with your local surgery contact them an announces happily that you are being cut off!! Call your surgery, lo and behold its closed!! thereafter forcing you to call 999, who then triage your call and tell you you shouldn't be contacting them because the service is for life threatening events only. Who also cut you off. How on earth are normal Non Medically trained members of the public supposed to decide what's life threatening or not, its not always clearly obvious are symptoms of a TIA pre Stroke indicator life threatening, yes of course potentially but the whole service makes you fearful from using it in case you get rebuked. The NHS in Scotland is sadly a very poor reflection of the state of the country overall. Every part of it is decimated and ineffective. It certainly doesn't assist anyone in need in any way.
