Major disappointment

Went inside to get a gift I made framed and gave the teller my email info and was told I could not use a military discount til my next purchase..then I went to buy a few things..I waited for what seemed an eternity for assistance..I was not greeted at all and it was my first day at a michaels..I spent over 200 dollars and all they had to do was ask for my military I.D.to prove I AM A Veteran..I tried 4 times to go online and set up there rewards program
..it is not recognizing my info so mostlikely it was entered incorrectly by the clerk at Micjaels..even though I was thorough and spelled everything to the teller Megan..at this point I Am waiting to get my frame in about 2 weeks. But once I get it I will never come back again...so done with this place!!!

Unfriendly store

The front desk people are very unfriendly and make you feel uncomfortable. The coupons this company sends is after the purchase and has a limited window. They fail to understand that the arts and crafts items are not purchased every other week unlike groceries. The coupon window should be extended over some time. The front desk people become extremely aggressive when you ask if you have any discounts available. I have had a bad experience with every Michaels store chain.

A+ Customer Service

I have had several bad experiences at Michaels in Pasadena, to the point of going out of my way to go to another store. Today, I was in a hurry and decided to go local. I was pleasantly surprised by the customer service I received today. Brian, a very helpful, patient and caring young man helped me at the self check out. His customer service was above and beyond and he was so nice and willing to help. He should, in my opinion be a trainer for the staff at that store. Because of him, I will be going to Michaels locally. Thank you Brian.

Rude Employees Who Seem to Resent They Have to Work

Weds. June 18th around 4:30 pm at the location in Stevenson Ranch, CA: ignored by two employees at the checkout line -- one who walked away as I got in line, and another standing no more than half a foot away as two of us waited to check out. The self-checkout was not working -- pressing the buttons didn't do anything, or I would have done that. Finally, I had to ask this employee if anyone was working the register.

The first thing out of her mouth was, "The self-checkout--" but I cut her off and said they weren't working. She said nothing. Then I said, "Were you busy?" -- yes, being sarcastic but in serious tone. Her reply? "Yeah, but it's ok." She was busy standing there, ignoring us. I said never mind and left. I should be glad that I saved money, I suppose.

Just to see if there was actually anyone left at the store who cared about customers, I called the store when I got home. The connection was so bad it sounded garbled. I asked the name of the manager and was told "there are a lot of them. Like five." Finally, I got the name of the store manager -- of which there is just one. The employee whom I asked to repeat it due to the bad connection was giving serious attitude when I asked that she spell it. I'd had it at that point and let her know and hung up. Calling the main number for Micheals is no better - they all sound disinterested and annoyed.

How did Joann lose out to this??? No need to go there again.

I ordered about $200 worth of supplies for my business online because Michael's advertised the delivery date I needed them by. The date came and went and now Michael's says that they will be delivered a week late. They never notified me of this and if they had I would have cancelled the order. This is unacceptable customer service. I cannot count on their advertised information.

Horrible customer service

Recenfly spent a lot of money on their “balloons”. Awful experience and customer service. Manager was not knowledgeable nor was I informed that the balloons that I picked up late Friday for a Saturday party, which the manager was aware, would not last overnight. Was not informed there was a “special” helium needed. Took the balloons back Saturday morning only to be told this information and had to spend even more money on new balloons with the appropriate helium. Inexcusable customer service. Never use their so called balloon service! I will never return to Michael’s and will be sharing this information with friends and family. I would give zero stars if I could!

Constant spam emails to my business…

Constant spam emails to my business account. How they even got my email address is beyond me
I've messaged politely asking to be taken off, then I got more emails, so sent another one, still emailing me. I was going to just block it, but thought I'd rather leave a bad review.
'Michaels' isn't even related to my landscaping business and by the looks of things, is based in America (payment in dollars) so is of no use to me.
Stop sending emails and I'll take this review down

This is NOT JoAnns

First of all I went into Michael's Craft store in Livermore California because they have a big sign out front and attached to all their shopping carts stating that all Joanns fabric customers will be taken care of with all your fabric needs on ale 41. I've NEVER known Michael's to carry ANY fabric or fabric by the yard! Ale 41 had NO FABRIC period!!! But I did witness two Hispanic women opening up packages and shoving merchandise in their purses!
Upon entering the store I had made a trip to Target, so I had three full Target bags, in the basket. I bought several items from Michael's. BUT while I was in line the cashier hurried and put me on a self check out and she started ringing up my items without my asking for help, than when she was done she opened up my Target bags and proceeded to look through my Target items( for stolen shit from Michael's)!!! When she figured out I hadn't stolen anything, she then threw my Michael's purchases in my Target bags!!! All the while she states to the two Hispanic women leaving the store with STOLEN merchandise "Ladies have a nice day." WTF?! SO I get treated like a damn thief!!!!
"BLK. LIVES MATTER!"
Very RACIST store!!!

Bad Customer Service

Went to the Styertowne Clifton NJ store to purchase a 12 drawer utility rolling cart. When I got home to put the cart together, one of the parts was defective (screw holes didn't line up). Called the store back and was told to bring it back even though it was out of the box. This is where the fun begins...
Associate named Rain called on their radio about the return which was out of the box and another associate came over and said they couldn't do anything because of that. It was left out of the box to show the reason behind the return. That 2nd associate calls the Mgr and she says there's nothing we can do and if I called the right store because there are 2 in the same town. I showed her my phone where I called before I came back and she says 'Oh yeah, that's our phone number"... DUH!! The Mgr asked if I was offered the warranty I said NO!! It's amazing that not one of these employees asked why I'm returning the item. All I wanted was an exchange and they made this very difficult to the point I got annoyed and just wanted my money back. Meanwhile the Mgr asked Rain if I purchased the item and Rain didnt give a verbal response but a dumb smirk...mind you, Rain was also in line in front of me purchasing something when I came into the store the 1st time. Reluctantly the Mgr gave me my refund, and I because of all this drama, I REFUSE this shop at this store again... Store 8357 1069 Bloomfield Av Clifton, NJ (not to be confused with Rte 3 W Store at Riverfront Center)

- [ ] BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE

- [ ] BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE! NO I DON’T TO CHECK MYSELF OUT…HIRE MANAGERS WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS
- [ ] I was in the Johns Creek, GA Micheal’s on May 5th and I was hesitant about going to that Michael’s because when I was in there during then holidays the manager popped up at every corner as if I was stealing. Initially, I didn’t know he was the manager because he was on a personal call talking about a personal purchase. Plain clothes, No Vest, No Michaels ID. Then I noticed on every aisle, a few mins later, there he was. It wasn’t until someone needed assistance that I realized he’s the manager. NO it’s not a race think. It’s a MICHAEL’S thing. He and I are the same color. Fast forward present day. I only need a few things. It’s been a long day and I DON’T work for Michaels so no I don’t want to check myself out. The cashier suggested it and I said I didn’t want to. I was fine waiting for the customer ahead of me. She comes back and says put in your customer number at self check out and let me know if you need help. Which part of I don’t want to check myself out did she not get, so I said forget about the purchase, so very snarky…she’s said ok, Have a great Day! I get it’s not her company. She doesn’t care and neither did the manager. Instead of the manager saying, let me check you out or get her to check you out. He tells me that CORPORATE SAID, HAVE THE CUSTOMERS CHECK THEMSELVES OUT. Instead of following your customers around as if they are stealing, hire more people and MAKE SELF CHECK OUT OPTIONAL. TRAIN YOUR MANAGERS AND MAYBE IF HE SPENT LESS TIME ON PERSONAL CALLS, HE COULD GATHER A LITTLE PROFESSIONALISM!

Today I had time to walk around the entire store and saw an extremely friendly guy working. I asked him a few questions and he was very helpful and said he loved working there! He had a wonderful way about himself and I thought how much he adds to this location. This store is the best out of the many I have been in . His name is Rolston Richards

Went to the Hudson plaza in Georgia location for the first time on April 29. Worst experience ever! Store products are way overpriced. Hobby Lobby so much better. I'm a Designer and the balloon section is poor and nothing to select from! Cashier male was rude and not very helpful. His best answer and help to a first time customer was "I just work here"! Needless to o say will not be returning and will advise friends and family!

Beware: Michaels Credit Card and Comenity Bank Cost Me Time and Money

I was encouraged at checkout to open a Michaels credit card to "save money" on my purchase. I agreed — but I never received the physical card or any account information.

Despite not having a card or full account details, I was charged late fees almost immediately. I made a minimum payment just to keep the account from getting worse while waiting for my card to arrive.

When I finally received the card, I discovered that Comenity Bank had already charged me three separate interest fees, even though the delays appeared to be caused by their own system. I contacted customer service to explain the situation, but they refused to reverse the charges.

In my opinion, a good bank would have offered a courtesy reversal, recognizing that the delay in setting up the account was outside of my control. Instead, I was left to pay for their mistakes.

What was sold as a "great savings opportunity" turned into an expensive, frustrating experience. Be very cautious before signing up for a Michaels credit card or any card serviced by Comenity Bank.

An odd experience

I haven't been to the Michael's in my area (Montgomery, Alabama) since Dec. 2023. At that visit I left my items at the register and walked out because the person at the register was too busy with a personal phone call to ring up my purchases. I went back with my son to look for something he needed (April 25th 2025), and I looked for fusible quilt batting, they didn't have it. He found something that he thought would do for his project and we had to have it cut. They have fabric, but NO cutting area. We had to go to the picture frame area to have it cut. Nothing went really wrong with that part of our visit, but here is the part that made me speechless. The employee told me that H L would be going out of business because Micheal's had more of a selection than the other store??????!!!!! First of all, the Michael's store is half the size of H L, and they do not carry a lot of the things that H L carries. I just replied "Oh really?" to her statement. I don't frequent the craft stores here that much as I get my craft supplies from Dollar Tree when they have what I'm looking for or order them from internet providers. I don't think I will be in a big hurry to go back to Michael's.

Frame Shop…

Michael's frame shop lost an old map given to me by my father and not replaceable. I did find, eventually a much lesser quality print, and asked Michael's to cover the cost of the replacement as well as an amount, very re4asonable to cover the difference in quality. After a four month wait, today I had to go and pick up the check which did not even cover the cheap replacement. I will never shop at Michael's again.

Michael's happens to be the only store…

Michael's happens to be the only store in the Niagara region that sells artist supplies. One in Niagara Falls and another in St Catharines. I have shopped in both stores whenever the convenience of the location is best for me at the time. My concern is art supplies as I am a painter. Each time I go to either store my disappointment escalates from my previous experience. I no longer will shop in any Michaels store from this point forward. Product availability and selection are very poor for the oil painting artist. It seems they are focused on hobbyists more than professional artists. oil color selection is very poor and they also carry one brand of paints. Accessories like paint brushes or brush cleaning products are inferior and many have their own Michaels brand. The staff is not knowledgeable or competent either. The check out process is another nightmare. My cashier had to redo my pricing 3 times before she got it right with the coupons or promotions they may have at that particular time. Usually when I purchase an item in any store I'm happy with my purchase. With Michaels it makes me want to pull my hair out after each experience. Sorry Michaels but you will not see me again in any of your stores. I will drive to Oakville or Toronto and deal with a competitor and spend the extra time or money to get the satisfaction for the necessary products or purchase online but never again from Michaels.

Rudest manager I’ve ever met

Rudest manager I’ve ever met, I wanted to make a purchase and use a coupon, The cashier explained the coupon was only good if I purchased it online, So I asked if I could purchase it online, but take it with me as I had it in my hand already, She explained I had to wait two hours, I said that’s pretty inconvenient since I have it in my hand right now could I ask the manager if they would let me take it after paying it online? She agreed and called the manager manager, Steve told me that he thought it was a great idea to purchase it online and have to come back after two hours, When I asked him, how is that even possibly Good for any reasonable person to have to come back after two hours, He got very loud and boisterous following me and would not let me get a word in, Extremely rude, People were staring at us. He caused a scene and would not let me get a word in, I’ve been in Retail since I was 16 and I know to remain extremely calm. He did not. It was getting to the point that he was bullying and I got teary-eyed, I left my purchase and sadly walked out with nothing, I was so upset that I looked to speak with Michael’s head office chat box, After explaining the situation, the chat box ended abruptly and they wanted a survey from me, I hope to hear from them, They have my email but I highly doubt it, It’s too bad customer service has gotten this bad, In the 80s and 90s Retail had a higher customer service unfortunately today that does not exist. It seems. This was at the bank, Ottawa location By the way,

Absolutely bad service

Absolutely bad service! I was so disappointed visiting this store for the first time today April 9th 2025 and it is going to be my last! I was so desperately looking everywhere to buy trifold project board for my son‘s presentation following day. I looked for stores in Bellevue and Redmond roaming over an hour. My spouse called in this store to check if they have and they confirmed they have it. I rushed from Walgreens Bellevue to this store at Crossroads 5min before store closing. Store manager did not allow me in at all, simply sighing they are closed. There was a couple inside who cane out exact 9pm that’s when sliding doors opened. I went in requesting to grab the board, explaining they made me wait outside until it passed 9pm and the store manager simply mentioned we were closed. I told that it was not fair to not allow a customer who made it 5min before store closed but she showed not courtesy! I felt so bad! The two other persons working in the store watched helplessly!

Shouldn’t a customer be allowed in 5 min before closing?
I understand people may be tired etc. but small courtesy would have made huge difference :(
