From Heatwave to Scamwave – Bought a Pool, Got Drowned in Fraud

On 1 July, during the hottest day in the Netherlands, I walked to Media Markt Heerlen to follow up on a pool online ordered through MediaMarkt.nl. It was fulfilled by their “partner” WAYS.nl (Ref: 00742_265500958-B). I paid in good faith — €90 for the pool, hoping to cool down. Instead, I got robbed and ghosted.

After no delivery, I walked all the way to MediaMarkt Heerlen. Their staff confirmed:

Yes, WAYS is their partner.
No, they can't help.
Yes, they tried calling.
No, WAYS didn’t answer… because “they were not in the office due to the heatwave.”
Ironically, that’s the exact heatwave I bought the pool for.

Soon after I posted a complaint on Facebook, a “Martin” from MediaMarkt “support” contacted me on WhatsApp. He pressured me, step by step, into what I thought was a refund process — instead, it was a live scam while I was on the phone.

I was tricked into making 2 transactions via WorldRemit:

€199 at 17:44
€190.86 at 17:40
They even tried to take another €500, which I thankfully declined.

MediaMarkt has not helped. At all.
No follow-up. No accountability. Just radio silence.

I was targeted because I used your platform. You host these partners. Where’s the responsibility?

After confirming woth them of they will…

After confirming woth them of they will deliver the portable AC to the appartment door on the second floor, it was still left downstairs. It is a package over 30 kg.
Even more concerning, there is no way to actually complain that I could find.
Overall, anything bigger or more expensive I will not order from them anymore.
