I received the VAX vacuum brush I won at auction, and I’m extremely disappointed.
The item was not described as used, but it clearly is — the dust container was full of dirt, showing obvious signs of use.
It is also damaged, with a broken part that cannot be replaced.
The listing only showed the box and a top view of the vacuum, which gave the impression that the item was new or unused.
This feels misleading and dishonest.
I would not recommend buying from this auction again.

Avoid This Site – No Transparency or Customer Protection.
I strongly advise against using this website. There is no indication in the listings whether items are new, used, or faulty, and there is no proper returns process or customer support.
I purchased what I believed was a new item as a gift, but it arrived second-hand, dirty, and not working. This was not disclosed at any point during the transaction. I spent a significant amount of money, and there has been no resolution or accountability from the seller or the platform.
Unlike reputable platforms like eBay, which offer clear item descriptions and buyer protection policies, this site offers none of that. I am now seeking legal advice due to the lack of transparency and the condition of the item I received.
Save yourself the stress and disappointment—shop elsewhere.

Although they say they give you the option to view an item in the auction, the description on item itself doesn’t say if it’s broken or not. I bought a robot vacuum for £150 that was rrp £250 so you’d imagine it at very least fixable. It wasn’t. It was under warranty and Shark said John Pye aren’t an approved seller so it can’t be fixed. It may have even been broken in transit due to their poor packaging but they didn’t care.

Items are not inspected by staff. It was clear that this has not been done the item is faulty not only is it damaged it’s rusty and clearly been used for years!!
There is no description on the item there needs to be a better description better pictures and the items need to be tested prior to sending out. There was food inside the microwave!!!
so not only have I lost the money in this item but iv lost the other items I wanted because you shut down my account.
Angry is an understatement.
If you can’t refund surely you can offer me to return this item and pick out another for the same Money value!

Bought a box of 3 headphones, shown in photos with boxes. One has no microphone boom cover and no cables allowing it to be set up for use, one has no ear pads, one is scratched and with copious amounts of dead skin flakes in each earpad, obviously old and well used despite being boxed. John Pye did not indicate these were old, damaged, or missing parts therefore my reasonable expectation is that they would be whole and work. This is supported within the CRA 2015 but JP are citing their t&C's which state that consumers have no such right within the CRA . Wished I had read the reviews. As one put it, these are bandits, please don't let them rip you off.

Paid for two Lightspeed wireless mice a Logitech G903 and G502, both arrived without USB dongles and therefore couldn't be used via lightspeed. Contacted customer service as items not fit for purpose but given the standard blurb of you should have viewed. If items are not fit for purpose they shouldn't be sold. John Pye are Bandits

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM JOHN PYE AUCTIONS unless you go and specifically test it in person as it will likely be faulty. I ordered a fridge from an auction and I was unable to attend in person. The delivery cost me £50 and when the item arrived it was not as pictured, it was heavily damaged with dents and scratches. The power to the unit came on and there were lights but the unit would not cool. I called an engineer (another £80) to come and check it and he said the compressor was totally shot and it would cost £300 for a new one. I reported this to John Pye and they threw the legal waiver you have to sign when you join / make bids that basically says nothing you buy is guaranteed to work and it is completely up to you as the buyer to go and inspect and test in person. They also charge you for testing items at these auctions too btw. I strongly recommend that you do not use this auction site unless you are willing to buy a faulty item and waste all your money. Hope this helps you to make a sensible choice. I wish I had.

Bought a flat pack shoe cupboard at a total cost of £120. Delivered and had no fittings. Contacted John Pye and was told my fault as I should have checked even though it was an on-line purchase. So I paid £120 for a box of sticks!!!
This company gives auction rooms a bad name

Very Dissatisfied with the Service
I’m extremely disappointed with the overall experience. The service feels like extortion — the costs are outrageous, especially the delivery charges, which seem like a blatant rip-off. On top of that, there’s false advertising, and they completely ignore paying customers who are actually supporting the business.
It’s shocking that there aren’t more negative reviews, given how poorly they treat their customers. The only redeeming quality is the selection of items available at auction — I do like those. But beyond that, there’s not much to recommend. I would not suggest this service to others.

Appalling company that falsely advertise online and then have the nerve to say you should attend the auction live! Lies about measurements I bought a carpet supposedly 3.7 x 5 meters...hah it's actually 2.74metees no where near the 3.7 advertised? Do they really allow people to take off the roll and measure it? I don't think so. If it states a measurement it should be 100%
They are con artists at best. Misleading genuine people and not accepting any responsibility fir their mis selling
By the way....John pye please do not send a generic waste of my time reading reply...it doesn't do anything to improve your appalling behavior but confirms your lack of responsible trading practices.
I will also be contacting trading standards as false advertising is not acceptable

Bought the exercise bike but upon collection it turned out that it is missing a several elements such as feet and seat. The pictures of the item were not good enough to indicate that there are some elements missing and item description was also too generic to suggest that item is incomplete. The employees feedback was shocking trying to imply to look correctly at the pictures next time. The bike is now useless. Very frustrating and disappointing.

I won a bid on a Ninja 12 in 1 multi cooker the photos showed cosmetic damage it arrived yesterday in shocking condition the door was hanging off the bottom of the Ninja was badly damaged lots of cracks that wasn’t shown in pictures I complained and asked for a refund they replied saying the photos showed the damage they don’t refund and said I could of viewed the item at the auction site and went on to say it’s all in there terms and conditions they have obviously found a legal loophole to scam people buy off them at your own risk you will almost certainly receive something that isn’t working and beyond repair AVOID

Bought a garden sofa from online images only as lot was closing and pictures looked good. Upon collection, one of the back cushions was a total different colour and the glass for the coffee table was not supplied. Contact with John Pye, via email and over the phone have been useless. All I wanted was a cushion that matched I can cope with the lack of the glass top. Their excuse is “ you should’ve viewed it. However, the images supplied showed one cushion ( happens to be the one that doesn’t match) not in packaging whilst all the others were covered thus concealing the issue. Whilst speaking to their head office I was also informed that they do not own responsibility for any of their goods; even electrical goods. They do not test them, check them etc, it’s basically pot luck. How on earth do these companies get away with that. I will now pursue this for a total refund as they are unwilling to help and report this company to trading standards on safety grounds.

I was prompted to leave a review after seeing some of the current reviews and the standard ‘we recommend you come and have a look before buying’. This is all well and good, but I was bidding on a range cooker, which I made a special effort to go and see but once there couldn’t check it worked anyway because it had to be hard-wired in. Needless to say, I paid a fortune, including for delivery, and it didn’t work. No responsibility accepted by Pye. I was sorely tempted to report them to trading standards, but tbh I just wanted to end the farce after trying for days to get a reasonable response. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING electrical, or in fact anything! I’ve received so much tatt over the years, and I’m finally voting with my feet. (I don’t remember date of purchase, so have estimated below)
