It did take about 2.5 weeks to arrive and I had to chase to get a delivery date. It took a cpl of phone calls to get someone and as there's no order number on the confirmation email, they have to search so could be better on comms.
That being said, when the tree arrived is was packaged well, in good condition actually had some fruit on it. Its now doing extremely well.
Overall I'd rather have slightly lacking comms than a poor product as thats what you're buying at the end of the day.

Don't go near this company!

These cowboys are also trading as Chris Bowers & Sons, presumably to get away from their old incarnation. However the con job continues. Don't buy from them: the wrong trees are sent out, dead ones - you name it. Try and get a refund and you'll get a rude reply in return. They should be shut down and I suspect they don't raise their own trees at all but buy cheap stocks and flip them.

Bargain but longer than expected delivery

I ordered a plum tree on 1 June and got confirmation email and text but as others have said no tracking number and no one responded to an email chase as delivery does say 3-5 days. It’s been delivered today (20 June) well packaged in eco-friendly wrapping (paper, straw and cardboard), looks healthy, soil is still damp despite current heatwave and overall i’m pleased. Just wanted to reassure anyone who ordered before checking these reviews with a sinking heart!

Superb quality tree.

I was always little worried after reading the reviews.
Took just over 2 weeks for my tree to get delivered and to be honest it's one of the best trees I've purchased online.. thanks hopefully I get some nice peaches to go with the rest of my fruit.

More communication would be better.

Ordered and paid for Jubilee Plum on 15 May, received text acknowledging order. Heard no more although they say orders are sent in 3-5 working days. Tried to contact and phone starting Fri pm 23 May. Had same problems as other reviews report - no room in voice mail etc. On Tuesday 27th spoke to a lady who was polite and helpful. I explained that it was for a silver wedding present and was needed that week. She said it would be dispatched the next day and Elisha confirmed by email with delivery expected Thursday 29th. The tree arrived and looks a good shape and appeared healthy. I did not see the roots as it was given as a present in the pot. Communication earlier would have avoided many unanswered phone calls and the writing of contact messages and would have saved me worrying as much. In the end it seems to be a good result and hopefully the tree will do well.

Bare root tree failure…

order two bare root plum trees on the 11th October 2024 and they arrived on the 23rd October. Both trees were planted straight away and have been water on a regular basis. Fruit-trees.com are linked to Chris Bowers & sons as they have the same address and contact email. I contacted the company in April saying that neither tree was coming into leaf and was told that as this was the first season that it can be well into May. Still no sign of any growth so i tried contacting them on the 20 and 30th May. Looked through some of the other recent views and found a new contact email address, Fruit.Trees.com / Chris Bowers & Sons have now agreed to send replacement trees.

No customer service

Ordered 5 bare root trees in march, all delivered, all duly planted, however 1 plum tree has not revived. Have written, tried phoning, nothing. Complained to paypal who say as it was more than a month after delivery they closed case. Will pursue through credit card company, avoid crj fruits, john bower, fruit trees all different trading names

Goods not received within reasonable timescale - no invoice - no courier - no tracking number - no order number - communication was confruntational, almost aggressive! Phone just goes to voicemail.

Utterly dreadful.

No After Sales Backup

In March I ordered two bare root plum trees from CRJ’s excellent online selection. The trees arrived promptly, were planted promptly and watered regularly. Two months later neither tree shows any sign of life.

I tried phoning repeatedly but only got the answerphone. So I emailed, with zero response save for their automated acknowledgment.I emailed again, same result. From my perspective this order has just been a total waste of my money, time and effort with the added insult of being ignored when I try to get in touch. I paid by PayPal so will be seeking a refund.

Don't Buy From This Nursery

Unscrupulous conduct by CRJ Fruit Trees (also trading as John Bowers at the same address in Wimbotsham, PE34 3QB) Nearly £200 of trees I ordered were not sent, and they just fobbed me off when I contacted them, with no response to subsequent emails. Thier attitude was disgraceful. I reported them to PayPal who issued a refund for the missing trees. Even the trees I did receive were very small and unbranched - much smaller than trees I've bought elsewhere at a similar price. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM

Poor communication

I ordered a tree on 12th December. It says on the website “all orders dispatched within 3-5 working days”

I didn’t receive any order number or delivery details. After waiting a week I asked where my tree is and received the following reply:

“ I am sorry we do also ask in our t&c's that you allow up to 28 days and this is our busiest period; the tree won't be despatched until est. 2nd week of Jan; with our apologies.”

I have asked for my order to be cancelled and the money refunded. I will edit this message after my refund has been received.

Simply gorgeous

Ordered a beurre hardy pear tree as a Christmas gift after having read lots of positive reviews. I got an immediate confirmation email saying my order was being processed. Then I saw a lot of very negative reviews which made me panic so I rang the helpline and spoke to Julie who was super helpful and explained their harvesting process. Considering the poor weather we have had, I'm totally not surprised that they have been unable to get the trees out as quickly as they would have liked. If people took the time and trouble to speak directly to businesses in a non-confrontational way then I'm sure there would be less friction and more positive outcomes for everyone.
The tree arrived this morning. Well-packed with lots of straw and in a pot. It's a very healthy specimen and great to know that it's home-grown. I'm very happy with it and would order from this company again.
Be nice folks and have a lovely Christmas 🎄

Customer service is an unknown concept

Ordered 2 trees 3rd November, heard nothing in 2 weeks. Called to check and received an email 19th Nov saying they had the trees but there was a delay. Received 1 tree 13th December. Called to check and was told they no longer did step-over apple trees. Asked for an explanation why no-one had contacted me and was told "we just put the orders in a pile and it isn't until they pick them we find out". I asked why these were still being sold on the web site? "We have another site where they no longer show, but we can't amend this one". Refused to refund carriage

Well pleased

We ordered two plub trees on Dwarf Pixie root stock. Thinking they would arrive during the winter as bare root, we were surprised when they arrived a few days later. They where we'll packaged in strong paper sacks surrounded by straw, and they were in POTS. The trees where very strong at around 3 feet and pruned. We were that pleased that we had to do this review.

Healthy well packaged trees

I ordered on Saturday 7th September and received a short email confirmation. After reading the reviews I emailed to ask when I could expect delivery and received a reply within a hour saying it was 3-5 working days as per website. My trees arrived this morning, (5th working day) superbly packaged with thick brown paper and straw, well labelled and very healthy. Couldn’t be more pleased.

I would definitely buy from this company again

I ordered 5 fruit trees recently from this nursery. I liked the variety of fruit trees especially apple varieties offered. I was concerned after reading some negative reviews here. Nevertheless pleased to say the trees duly arrived and are all now planted and really doing well already putting on growth. I am very happy with purchase

Apple tree order

I ordered an apple tree as the price was really good but although i received an email, I never received an order number. I then read the reviews and wondered if I would ever receive my order or my money back! Following a couple of emails which were not replied to and many unanswered telephone calls I did manage to speak to a helpful young lady who reassured me about my order and today I have received a lovely looking apple tree. Despite my initial reservations, I am glad I did order with this company and am very pleased with my little tree.
