This company is not a trustworthy…

This company is not a trustworthy company, they reinstated my insurance without my knowledge they use my premium check somehow without my signature to reinstate my insurance then tried to charge me almost $3,000 for non-compliance I've been battling with them for almost a year now to get my money back they still won't return it I have gotten insurance on a vehicle somewhere else and have notified them three times that I did even the insurance company notified them they kept drawing money from my account they had lawyers sending me mail saying I was being sued for the money. Now they are admitting they are wrong but still won't return my money I do not recommend this company for any of your insurance be aware they owe me about around $2,000 they calls me to lose jobs and I caused a bunch of mental and emotional stress for me my business & my family. And I'm still going back and forth with them trying to get my money back they took. Trying to find a lawyer now tired of dealing with crooked people they tried to act like everything was my fault when I have sent them everything they need to see they were at fault when they already knew they were at fault. I have all the proof from the time I reinstated new insurance for my vehicles and the time I was injured for 8 months and didn't need workman's comp that was reinstated without my knowledge they ruined my Christmas and calls me to lose a lot of business

The best insurance company…

I have used Erie for 50 years and have never had a bad or unsympathetic experience with either my local agent or an Erie employee. They have always been helpful and caring. I read some of the 1 star reviews and I really don't know who these complainers are or why they had a bad experience. Prehaps they are not being completely honest about their experience details. Some people today don't want to accept responsibility and are always looking for others to blame instead of looking in the mirror.

Stay away from Erie Insurance. They are not customer friendly.

My girlfriend has her homeowners policy with Erie Insurance.
She has Alzheimers disease. I called Erie Insurance attempting to get her premium payments converted to monthly from the huge annual payment they charge. The customer service rep was advised about the cognitive issues but insisted on putting my girlfriend through questioning to validate some information before the rep would talk to me. Obviously that didn't go well so I asked to speak to a supervisor. My request was refused and the rep also refused to help further. The rep ended the call by saying (sarcastically) that she hoped the rest of my day went better.
This is not a caring customer service company. Stay away!!

I have been a policyholder paying…

I have been a policyholder paying premiums on time for auto insurance and renters insurance. An insurance policy is a legal contract! In the auto contract I pay for the protection in the event that an underinsured motorist causes an accident. This accident occurred on November 10 2023 to me. The person causing the accident had a basic minimum coverage not enough to cover my physical and emotional damages or loss of work and income! Erie insurance has violated the policy contract by denying to pay the limit under the underinsured motorist coverage I pay for and they agreed to even though mri’s doctors reports therapy and up and coming surgery procedures have been presented! And because of this I have had to hire an attorney and have filed a lawsuit which when it goes before a jury will be won! It’s a travesty that companies like Erie insurance are allowed to do business by the state of Pennsylvania and unprofessional manner not protecting the policyholders as they advertise they do!! I highly recommend no one purchase any type of insurance from Erie insurance companies!!

Good insurance and good people

Well, I am very surprised at the rating on this site. I have been with Erie for several years and had cause to make a claim on the car insurance side. My treatment by all involved has been exemplary. My adjuster Rhodes Sulcer and all others involved dealt with me in prompt and courteous manner and I will recommend Erie without question. Can only assume the complaints from previous posters must have been person ( s) specific.

Act like they care until you sign on then they got you

They act like care to help you until you sign on with them , they are rude and no longer care about what you say or what you want. My agent was Kim and she was very switchy on the phone. You can hear her rolling thru her emotions as she spoke . Very rude with a spiteful laugh or maybe it was just me. Didn’t receive a cancellation notice after insurance wasn’t paid for the last month after a 12 month policy was in place. Wouldn’t let me reinstate it since I was less then 48 hours late on top of a late notice already which I never received and referrred me to Progressive. I had problems with an ex breaking into my car and messing around underneath it and she didn’t think I was being honest and helped me with nothing moving forward. Hence why I didn’t pay the month still unsure of what to do now it doesn’t matter I got to let it go and act like nothing unsafe happened to my car. Thanks walnutport PA location for bullshitting me for a year. :)

This company is extremely shady

This company is extremely shady, not up to par with bigger insurance names. Their adjuster is impossible to speak to and he’ll call you like a month after an accident. Also they raised my insurance $100 when I had no at fault accidents so they wanted me to pay $550 a month which is insane and they said it was because they were raising their prices by 19% and when I asked if any other insurance company was doing that she kept avoiding the question when I asked it about 4 times. Also they would not let me cancel even though I already switched a month and a half prior. So I called multiple times and they were still trying to take the money out of my bank account. I had to find the woman who first signed me up for Erie and she said in order for me to cancel I have to send her my new insurance cards from the company I am with now. So that means you can’t cancel with them unless you show them proof of new insurance? Never heard of that very shady smaller insurance company.

Dishonest Crooks!

After years of paying premiums a tree fell on my truck in the driveway due to 80mph straight line winds. My truck, although a 2007, was a beautiful 4x4 with only 72000 original miles. Runs like a champ and was a southern truck that never saw salt. So rustless and very clean. There was only fixable cosmetic damage, but the adjuster, without even seeing it, over the phone, was already talking about it being totaled. When he came out he nitpicked every little thing he could to be able to write it up as totaled. He included many things in the appraisal that I told him were NOT caused by the tree. Long story short, Erie ended up giving me around half what KBB said it was worth. I have worked in the auto industry and knew he was just doing what the company laid out as their criteria to pay out as little as they could. They really screwed me. My agent took 3 weeks to get back to me when I tried to reopen the claim, and then pretended he didn't remember any of the details. These guys are big time scammers. I don't recommend them to anyone. I am changing companies as soon as I sell this truck and get another. They are company people who don't have your better interest in mind. Up front they will tell you what you want to hear, but don't deliver whatsoever.

This is the second time we were hit and…

This is the second time we were hit and injured by uninsured drivers. I have been paying Erie for the past 49 years, i had $1,000,000 in underinsured and uninsured motorist coverage, they screwed my wife with a lousy $100,000 settlement , which she had to flown to phila jefferson for a 4 level cervical fusion. less than 2 years later her cervicl spine fell apart again, leaving her totally disabled, and us with bankruptcy and nearly losing our house twice. In 202 i was hit by a non insured , no d/l driver , whiplashed badly leaving me with a torn lumbar spine, at 3 levels , well this time Erie hired a lawyer , a real assnine jerk, who fought me and suggested I jumped off of my roof and tried to injure my back . My settlement was less than my wifes, thanks to that fat slob attorney Dan Distasio, arbitrator, now I have my health insurer trying to get what little i received as subrogation , and mty future medicals are staggering , you all know that medical and medications only go up each year at like 15 to 20 %---Erie SUCKS AND DOES KEVIN HIGGINS AND THAT LITTLE OLD LADY WITCH THEY SENT WITH HIM!!!!DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR YOUR TIME , THEY SCREW EVERYBODY, dR,jUINTA TOLD ME THEY WOULD SCREW ME OVER , AND HE WAS CORRECT!!!!

Always look at Reviews Before Switching Insurance

I had planned to switch to Erie Insurance for my home and auto in Wisconsin. However, I went on Trustpilot and other site and was upset to see all the 1 star rating and the horrible experiences of others. Now, I will not go with them. I was particularly upset about the experience of another customer dated July 2, 2023 about ERIE FORCING THEM TO REMOVE OR KILL THEIR DOG. Being a dog lover myself, I do not understand why the customer would have their dog Ginger put to sleep - because of an Erie claim they made. They should have gotten rid of Erie Insurance instead of their beloved pet. I am sorry for these people and their experience. However, I am now learning from this, and will NOT chose Erie. I will simply stay with American Family despite the higher deductible for wind and hail damage.

I have both home and auto insurance…

I have both home and auto insurance policies through Erie in SE PA and the agency I use is D.E. Cressman. I have had had them for around 8 years now and the quality of the service and policies are top-notch and reasonably priced. Having had to file claims on both my home and auto-policies, I can say that my experience in dealing with the local agency, home and auto adjusters, and emergency call center employees has been stellar. If you want an agent that is responsive and cares about you when you have a claim that needs to be filed, I highly recommend D.E. Cressman. As far as I can tell, the rest of the organization seems stellar too, at least compared to my previous experiences with Allstate and State Farm.

As a investigator, I’m noticing more of this that must stop immediately due to other detrimental reasons that can cause bad to others, especially when it comes to insurance coverage, which must be properly investigated & invented by state

Now, as I have realize that area insurance falsifies their insurance policies with their policy holders while allowing their Caucasian policyholders to get away with detrimental incident and treat the ones of color and have a nationalities in a different characteristics, which must stop. But the other problem would be the policies are not being regulated by law, standards or regulations, allowing force, and fate policies to occur, which needs immediate investigation to make sure that there are getting vended, but cited in a correct manner which has not happened. I believe there are too many laws being broken with the policies which are not stone or written stone as they should be.

Senior Citizen Status 75 Sucks with Erie

After many years of satisfied insurance coverage with Erie, I paid my premiums regularly and knew I had coverage if I needed it. I never needed it for any of my multiple automobiles or home. I turned 75 and my auto insurance almost doubled. I should be getting a return of premiums for having no claims. Not with Erie.

Allain D. Latreille

Avoid Allain D. Latreille at all cost. Our company has spent over $20k per year for many years with Erie Insurance. Unfortunately, Allain D. Latreille was assigned to assist our business for a small claims loss. Allain D. Latreille, the representative for Erie is anything but professional. Allain does not return calls, he actually blocks your number so you cannot reach him. There is a host of issues regarding professionalism, courtesy and basic communication standards. We have been forced to call Erie Corporate. Corporate provided us with his supervisors contact info. We are now making some progress. Our wish is for corporate to hold their reps like Allain D. Latreille to higher standards and to hold them accountable for poor performance, in this case, zero performance.

I was an ERIE Agent about 8 years ago

I was an ERIE Agent about 8 years ago. I'm still a policy holder although an unhappy one. About 15 or so years ago ERIE was like a family of agents. ERIE's selling point was the policy holder comes first most of us felt that way. As the senior executives changed, ERIE became just another insurance company with nothing to set themselves apart from the pack. For some unknown reason ERIE sent me to collections even though I have auto debit.

My elderly parents have Erie…

My elderly parents have Erie homeowner's insurance. What a mess this has been. Their home had severe storm damage in June 2023. The home still has not been repaired, and is still not habitable. They have been living in a hotel for 6 months, and on top of that, one contractor stole money given to them for repairs to work on another house. Erie has had not compassion, no sense of urgency, and is completely unorganized. My parents are in their 80's and do not need this. Buyers beware. Your Erie policy is probably not worth the paper it's written on. The adjuster won't even return calls. Horrible example of an insurance company.

Erie Insurance is an affordable…

Erie Insurance is an affordable insurance company compared to others. I pay $97 a month for a 9 month plan they charge a $5 card processing fee still not bad. Another positive thing is I only had to pay $500 deductible when my car was involved in a car accident that originally would have costed me over $6,000

This company has raised my insurance…

This company has raised my insurance rate TWICE in the past two years after never missing a bill, receiving no tickets, and getting in ZERO accidents. I have called multiple times for the people at my local branch to tell me “we’re too swamped, we have to call you back another time.” I have tried numerous times to get in contact with my local Erie branch, each time they have an excuse to not talk to me. I don’t have the money to keep paying a company that doesn’t care about its customers, and continues to raise my insurance rates when I haven’t received a raise in years. These companies continue to use “oh we have to raise our prices cuz iNfLaTIon” as an excuse. You’ve continued to milk your customers for a scam service. I dislike this company and would encourage anyone considering this company to find another company to do business with
