I wient in for an appendectomy in September of 2019 at Duke(i cant select the correct date in this form). When I awoke in recovery I found my two front teeth outside my mouth. They were broken at the root. I assume this occurred during sedation when I was intubated. Duke never took responsibility for this gross error nor did they reimburse me for all my costs to repair these teeth or the the pain and suffering. NC law and all the Duke cya paperwork makes it difficult to find an attorney who would take this case to recover my costs. I ended up paying around $10k to get these fixed. I will never use Duke for any surgery. Ever.

Dr. David Michael Ashley of the Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke provided care for my wife after she had surgery to remove a brain tumor. Over the 18 months he treated her, he made multiple mistakes that contributed to her death and cost us almost $100,000 out of pocket. When her cancer returned, he provided no treatment options and displayed no compassion whatsover. Dr. Ashley was negligent and clearly did not undertand the treatment he recommended. The staff of the Center were excellent, but Dr. David Ashley should not be allowed to provide patient care.
