BOGUS SIGN-UP FEE

I bought an individual plan and guess what, they charge you a full month's premium just for signing up. It goes towards no dental services, just whatever they felt like they should charge you because obviously all monthly premiums are different depending on what plan you pick but any processing on their side would be absolutely the same. Totally scummy. The sign-up fee is a total scam, and nothing they mentioned during the sign-up process on their website. BEWARE!

They denied a covered procedure and have no customer support

I'm infuriated by this insurer. I signed up for a plan which was meant to pay 50% towards restorative procedures after a 6 month waiting period. After 18 months I had to get a root canal and basic composite crown. First they refused the claim and forced the dentist to appeal based on wanting more radiology. Then they rejected it a second time and simply said it's not a covered procedure. Why make the dentist do the extra work only to come back and say root canals aren't covered, and why wasn't it covered?

I attempted to contact the company get an explanation and found that they have no actual people to call. There isn't even a phone number listed on the we site. You have to use a contact form that claims it will be answered in 3-5 business days. It's been 8 business days, no response. This insurance is a fraud. Stay away.

Fraudulent insurance company

Have an individual ppo policy. Checked their website to find a provider in their PPO. Went to Ideal Dental San Marcos which is listed as such on their website. Got a cleaning, x-rays, and exams. Delta Dental refused to cover the claim saying the information submitted by the dentist did not match their records. They ask me to get my dentist to contact them (which I have) with no resolution. This has gone on for a month and a half now, I've complained to the BBB (no help) and my state department of insurance. This is fraud of the kind you see in "The Rain Maker" movie.

HORRIBLE DENTAL INSURANCE!!

HORRIBLE DENTAL INSURANCE!!! STAY CLEAR

Switched to Delta Dental after 20 years with Aetna and its been horrible. Delta claims they pay 100% Out-of-Network for Preventative. Well, me and my family all got an Exam (1) and a cleaning (2) and they charged me over $100 per person in fee's!

It's supposed to be 100% covered, how the hell, do you bill me $100 for an exam and a cleaning!!!

Unacceptable and the BBB has been notified, i hope you guys go out of business!

Don’t expect good service

Delta Dental fails to submit to my HRA for every claim. My plan doesn’t allow me to submit manually so I need to follow up for DD to do it. Such a thrill to be on hold for 40+ minutes. Even got connected then lost the connection. They didn’t even bother to call me back so I had to call and wait again!

The hmo plan I have through Scan Medicare provides the worst dental providers. Everyone of the delta dental offices I’ve had the misfortune to deal with are scammers. The teeth cleaning is less than half an hour and they insist on deep scaling which is again, half an hour. Then you are charged $175 or a similar amount to have fluoride squirted in your mouth. It is a scam. They are the most low rent dental facilities with dentists who change often. The corporation who owns these offices is scamming the public.

Delta Dental Breaks HIPPA Laws and Doesn't Help Enrollees

This is not only the worst dental insurance provider I have ever experienced but the worst insurance provider ever. They take no action when fraudulent providers are reported. Their grievance, escalation, and overall customer service is rock-bottom. They don't care about their enrollees, only about their bottom line. I had a bad experience with a provider, I reported it because I wanted a refund, and Delta Dental sent me a "canned" response waving my complaint off. I tried to call to follow up and spoke to unhelpful and nasty "customer service" reps. Then to top it off, Delta Dental emailed me four times with attachments that contained other enrollees' personal information: their names, addresses, plans, etc. I reported it to my HR Benefits Administrator, to Delta Dental, to HHS, and the people whose info was compromised. THEY BROKE HIPPA LAWS! A woman named Conchita called me from Delta Dental (her # is 916-851-5514) and began to yell at me on the phone about the HIPPA issue. When I asked her if she could help me with my issue and to apologize for the way I was treated, she shouted that she and Delta Dental have nothing to apologize for. Then she had the audacity to tell me to stop talking and listen to her. I told her I was not going to do so until I received an apology and help for my issue and hung up. She called a few more times and I did not take the calls. Conchita needs to understand how to treat others with basic human decency. And Delta Dental must stop treating customers so poorly for profit. Everyone wronged by Delta Dental should call Conchita and let her know how you feel: 916-851-5514. I am going to keep blowing the whistle everywhere I can until Delta Dental treats customers better. What kind of a company relishes 1-star reviews all over the internet? A company that has no accountability and enjoys abusing others. Enough is enough!

They demanded to speak to our minor…

They demanded to speak to our minor child before serving us, when you go to an appointment they will spend an hour telling you the provider is not covered, it took 6 months before they determined our child/children were covered (same applies to you the payer), and lastly the dentist themselves call us begging us to ditch Delta Dental, which we did, after betting an "estimate" for us to pay $4,900 and them to pay $100 which was beyond insulting. Even cheap, after 5 years I can say Delta Dental aren't worth the headache. They take incompetence to new levels - said our minor child should get on the phone with them for "HIPPA" protocols! Wow! This is a business relationship I wish I never had and could forget, but can't. I left them with major dental work pending, but would rather risk choking that make one more 2-hour pointless call to them. Anything is better than Delta - even no insurance.

Being a poorly run insurance company is…

Being a poorly run insurance company is somewhat common these days but Delta Dental stands out in this regard, they are certainly the worst! They have no respect or consideration for their clients. Their grievances department is especially poor. They will not come to a reasonable resolution or do anything to help their clients. From top to bottom, their staff and leadership like Jeana Patracic (however you spell it, I don't really care) lack understanding, common sense, and problem solving skills. They have sad lives and it shows in their communication, it seems their job is that they're ordered to be non compliant. Save yourself the trouble and go to a dental insurance company that is not absolute garbage. Look at all the other reviews online, they are a one star service for a reason... it's because they are absolutely terrible!

Worst company i ever dealt with as far…

Worst company i ever dealt with as far as reimbursements are concerned.Since July of 2024 i have been trying to get 50% back on an Xray my wife had gotten done.My plan entitles me to that.I went as far as speaking with a supervisor who told me how to fill out the proper form after she emailed it to me.No one at Delta Dental knows what they are doing. Not even the supervisor I would give them a O if i could.I would never recommend this company to anyone. All they did was lie to me and give me the run a round. This company needs to send all it's workers for a crash course on proper procedures.Every worker had a different answer. They get their money every month from me don't they. And they surely remind you.Typical corporate American greed.I surely hope a company official reads this complaint. It's like any other insurance company they take your money but God forbid you try and get reimbursed good luck.Do your homework first before buying any insurance. It was a real slap in the face getting another letter saying i had to fill everything out again. You know what Delta keep your lousy $60.00 shame on you.

I do not recommend Delta Dental of…

I do not recommend Delta Dental of California. They are obstructive and seem to do everything possible to get out of paying a claim. Claims representatives trying to help are baffled by claim denials. I had general anesthesia (a covered benefit) in my dentist office right before removal of two infected teeth. Because the independent anesthesiologist, licensed and registered nationally, brought in by my dentist was only a certified nurse (no dental certification) they would not pay the claim.

DO NOT SIGN A DELTA CONTRACT OVER THE…

DO NOT SIGN A DELTA CONTRACT OVER THE PHONE WITHOUT READING THE CHARGE NOTICE!!
Insurance and Dentist together makes a coup.
The clinic already knew that I could not use the plan with less than a year of grace. Even so, they did my treatment knowing that the plan would not pay and they confirmed to me that everything was okay. Now they canceled my third appointment claiming that the plan did not authorize the treatment. I called the plan and they told me that the clinic already knew about the grace period. So now I am forced to pay for a total treatment of almost $800. So please, those of you who are going to sign up for the DELTA DENTAL plan, be aware of this. They are like scammers who come together to commit scams, on one side the insurance company charging your monthly fee, on the other side the clinic that already knows all the regulations and lies saying that the plan authorized it but then sends an absurd bill by mail!! Be aware of this. I signed up for my plan over the phone and was not informed about the 12-month grace period for some types of treatments.
Please guys don’t go by DELTA DENTAL

My dental office recently notified me…

My dental office recently notified me that I had two dental plans, resulting in me being billed twice each month for dental insurance coverage. I was unaware that I had been paying for duplicate insurance coverage for the past 10 months. During a conversation with my insurance provider, Delta Dental, the representative acknowledged that one of the plans needed to be canceled but stated that no reimbursement was possible due to company policy. I advise others to be vigilant about potential dual billing practices.

This is a total scam

This is a total scam. I had delta "insurance" through my employer, and I needed an implant that is a covered (at certain percentage, of course) procedure. This outfit simply refused to pay even a single red penny because "we do not have a record of extraction". Do they have records of every single procedure ever done? No. Nevertheless, this generic excuse gave the reason to claim that I was born without that tooth. I know for a fact that there would be no gap if their claim was accurate. How I know? I had a front tooth knocked out when I was a teenager, and there is no sign that that tooth is supposed to be their.
But these individuals are inventive. They even sent me a letter from a "dentist" without signature that I never had that tooth...
Stay away from this thieves!
