This was our first purchase from Castlery. We bought a bed and 2 nightstands with the white glove delivery. It was a very pleasant experience. As promised I was given a call prior to their arrival. The bed and nightstands were assembled and we were requested to check everything, before they left. All packaging was hauled away. Definitely would buy from Castlery again.

Poor service, broken promises – you have to fight for everything

I purchased the Dawson Queen Storage Bed from Castlery and received it with a faulty gas lift mechanism. What followed was two weeks of delays, vague responses, and no proactive effort to fix the issue — unless I escalated it myself.

Initially, they told me to wait 2–3 weeks for a replacement part, with no technician support and no urgency. It was only after I issued a firm refund deadline and raised the broader impact — including delays to my move, bed assembly, and added costs — that they finally arranged for a technician to attend. That wasn’t service — it was damage control.

When the bed was finally made functional, they offered me a 30% refund, but then applied it to a discounted checkout price, not the actual bed’s unit price of $1,799. This short-changed me by over $50, and they refused to correct it — despite never disclosing that detail before I accepted the offer.

Even after I stopped engaging and signalled I’d lodge a complaint with NSW Fair Trading, they continued to ignore my requests for a proper transaction receipt. The refund was finally processed, but only after I pushed back again on their false claim that it would take 7–14 days — a delay they blamed on my bank. Once I pointed out that 3–5 business days is standard, the refund was suddenly processed right away.

None of this was voluntary. It took constant chasing, pressure, and threat of escalation just to get basic action. Castlery made no attempt to resolve things professionally or in good faith.

The furniture might look nice, but if anything goes wrong, be prepared to do all the chasing, issue firm demands, and fight for what you're owed. There’s no transparency, no ownership, and no real care once they’ve made the sale.

To give a bit of context, the technician identified that the gas lift mechanism had not been installed correctly, rather than the piece being defective. That said, we completely understand how this oversight affected your experience, and and we deeply regret that the technician visit was not arranged earlier in the process when you initially reached out. While we do recommend opting for our White Glove service to help ensure a smoother assembly process, we understand that every customer deserves clear, helpful support regardless of the service selected.

Regarding the delay in providing the spare part, it was due to its unavailability in our local warehouse and the need to source it from our international warehouse, which extended the wait time. As for the refund, the timeline provided reflects an estimate of when the amount would appear in your original payment account, and is dependent on bank processing times rather than delays in the processing from our end. Nonetheless, we understand this may still have caused inconvenience.

We also acknowledge your concerns regarding the partial refund. You are absolutely right that this should have been communicated more transparently. Our refund policy is based on the actual amount paid after discounts, rather than the original listed price. We agree that this distinction should have been clearly explained upfront.

Most importantly, we’re truly sorry that our communication fell short along the way. Keeping you informed and supported should have been our priority, and we’re taking this feedback seriously. Your insights help us grow, and we’re committed to doing better for you and all of our other customers.

I was so pleasantly surprised by the…

I was so pleasantly surprised by the ease of scheduling and receiving this delivery! Recently I bought a mattress that was delivered by a large national shipping company, and it was an absolute nightmare. However, with castlery there was no drama; I just picked a day and time, they came at that day and time, were very competent and polite and I now have a beautiful couch! Very, very happy with both the couch and the delivery service.

Almost impossible to organise changes

Ordering page went blank. Ordered again but the system saved the previous order so it had two desks! No issue until I tried to modify the order. No response to email or help. It took 4 people on their What's app to finally send an email confirmation to change the order. Why does the courier service have to ask me about what to do instead of Castlerey staff immediately changing the order and sending the new information to their courier?

Phenomenally poor organisation. It should not take this much effort over 4 days to change or modify orders.
