Terrible Experience with The Continental Hotel Galway
On November 13th booked a stay in The Continental for December 19th and 20th. They messaged me yesterday telling me the booking was cancelled with very little context. This is also very short notice as now all the plans I had made have been ruined. They cited covid as the reason but that makes little sense given that restrictions have been eased during the period I had booked. I was really disappointed with the message, it was impersonal - they told me to cancel with booking.com even though I had booked via Airbnb (the platform they even sent the message on). This showed very little regard for me as a customer.
I suspect the reason they wanted me to cancel was so that I would not be able to leave a review but upon contacting Airbnb support they told me I should not cancel as I may incur fees - again this really shows the regard The Continental has for their customers. I've now messaged them several times asking them to refund my payment and cancel the booking if that's what they want to do - I never wanted to cancel and I was really looking forward to the trip. I'm being ignored by them so I've had to contact Airbnb support again to try and get the refund.
What a terrible experience. I'd encourage people to look past the nice pictures of this place and not risk being caught out like I have been. So disappointing.
