I had a very disappointing experience…
I had a very disappointing experience with Wise as a small business owner. I run a legitimate home based LLC, and despite providing real, valid documents showing my trading address, Wise repeatedly rejected them claiming they were virtual or invalid, even though I clearly explained that this is my actual working address.
The platform kept blocking me from using my account, and I was left unable to access or transfer my own funds. Their system seems rigid, unhelpful, and borderline broken when it comes to verifying genuine businesses that don’t fit their narrow standards. The support replies were polite, but nothing got resolved after multiple attempts.
If you're a freelancer, e-commerce seller, or small international business be very cautious before trusting Wise with your business. I’ve closed my account and won’t be using their services again.

Wise stole my money and won’t respond.
Wise stole my money and won’t respond.
I had my account with Wise for international transfers. Suddenly, they closed my account without any warning, and froze my money. It’s been more than 6 months, and I’ve tried to contact them many times, but they just ignore me.
I’ve received no proper explanation and no refund. Their customer service is impossible to reach, and their email replies (if any) are generic and useless.
I feel completely helpless and cheated. I trusted Wise, and they’ve held my funds hostage with zero accountability. This company is not safe to use.
Be careful – if something goes wrong, you’re on your own.
Wise stole €6000 and disappeared – No support, no explanation, no refund.
I used Wise for international transfers, and in September 2024, they suddenly closed my account without any warning. They also froze €6000 of my money, and since then, it’s been almost a year — I’ve received no refund, no explanation, and no proper communication.
I contacted them multiple times, but they either don’t respond or send generic messages that lead nowhere. I’ve tried every channel — email, support forms, even social media — but they completely ignore me.
I feel robbed and abandoned. Wise is not acting like a serious financial institution. If anything goes wrong, you’re completely alone. There is no accountability, no help, and no refund.
Avoid using Wise at all costs.
I’m preparing to report this case to regulators and consumer protection authorities.

I am a long term user of wise, very good service
I am a long term user of wise, formerly TransferWise, for 10+ years and at least 20+ transfers between Europe and Australia. It feels more like 50+ transfers, but I do not want to exaggerate.
Transfers have always been straight forward and reliable. The statement of how much money you send (in my case in Euros) and how much will arrive at the other end (for me: AUD), including fees, has always been accurate and transparent. Transfers are also very timely.
When I am initiating a transfer, is stated "this will happen", including the amounts and the timeline. And so far it has always happened. I am happy.
I feel that the fees are reasonable. I have not shopped around, though. Overall I am satisfied with the balance between reliability/trustworthiness of the service and the overall fees, including exchange rates.

This bank lies
This bank lies
They said that my transfer would take 6 minutes !!!
It's been two days and they have been asking for several documents, and I have been on wise for more than 2 years.
it's not even that large of a transfer.
Called on the phone that i need this transfer to be on time because if it does not i would huge huge bills to pay, they said we cannot do anything not even speed up the process.

My Honest First Impressions of Wise
I wish Wise offered an in-depth tutorial built into the first-time app download or sign-in process. As a new user, I found myself doing a lot of independent research just to feel somewhat confident navigating the platform, and even now, I’m still not sure I fully understand it.
To Wise’s credit, the website and FAQ section do a great job explaining the mechanics of exchange rates and fees, clearly differentiating themselves from traditional banks and money exchange services. However, what’s missing is practical, beginner-friendly guidance on how to actually use the platform day-to-day, especially for leisure travelers like myself who aren’t financial experts. There’s little advice on what to expect before, during, and after a trip, which leaves me feeling unsure about the whole process.
Maybe some of this hesitation comes from my own anxiety and limited experience with international money exchange and financial platforms, particularly those that aren’t backed by a major, well-known bank (which, to my understanding, is exactly the point of Wise). Still, if Wise is aiming to attract everyday travelers like myself and inspire confidence, I think they would benefit from placing a stronger focus on approachability and transparency right from the start.
Honestly, my first instinct approaching Wise is “maybe I should just try sending a small amount and hope this isn’t scammy.” With financial apps (or really anything that potentially risks real life money) I appreciate a clear, step-by-step, hand-holding approach.
Here are a few additional improvements I’d love to see, in the hopes that the Wise team is actively listening to user feedback and working to improve the user experience:
• Wisetag Customization: Most financial and social platforms (like PayPal) let you personalize your username or handle. Wise only generates Wisetags randomly, which I know will cause me to feel the need to double- and triple-check before completing transactions or sharing referral links. A customizable tag would add clarity, confidence, and a more personal touch.
• Manual Account Organization: Currently, the different currency accounts appear alphabetically. I’d love to be able to re-order them manually, prioritizing, for example, the currency for my upcoming trip so it’s front and center.
• Better Transparency: I shouldn’t have to scour Reddit and online forums for basic how-to explanations. More concrete, user-focused answers to common questions and a clear breakdown on how to use the platform would go a long way in building trust.
Final Thoughts as a Brand-New User:
Wise is doing a great job positioning itself as a modern, user-friendly alternative to banks and traditional exchanges, but the platform is missing the hand-holding, personalization, and clarity that help new users like myself feel confident from the start. Right now, it feels like a bit of a “learn as you go and trust us” experience, which might alienate cautious first-timers like myself.
I see a lot of potential in Wise and I’m looking forward to making the most of its benefits as I become more familiar and comfortable with the platform. That said, I hope they invest further in improving the new-user experience.

Transfer from join account to personal account
I was doing a transfer from my joint account to my personal account. Wise held the payment because the account name did not match exactly. They needed me to verify it was my account. The process to verify was simple and easy, and the review and payout was not instant but done very quickly, like within the day they had reviewed and paid out. Excellent work for security and fraud prevention.
One suggestion is, as part of the process, to mention that a verification is necessary when you transfer from joint to single account. My names were on both account which is why I thought it was not a problem.

I was very happy with Wise before
I was very happy with Wise before. Now I am really unsatisfied because the company don't make the transfer instant even if it's a legislation in Europe about that. I am sending the money in the morning and they are received evening late. This Friday I was sending some money about 13.00 o'clock and they will receive the money Monday late evening. I think that I will change it because the company is too late transfer money.
