scammers keeping site hostage

The site is ok to work with but they are scammers and wont let you leave. I ended the contract in time, but that doesn't count according to them, as I didn't answer a questionnaire about the customer support. This made my cancellation of the contract void, according to them. Webador now have my small site hostage. Don't know what to do. /Riviera Haven

Hi, thank you for sharing your feedback. Having looked into this case, we can confirm you contacted us on May 7 asking to downgrade your subscription from Webador Pro to Webador Lite.

Our representative responded to you on May 8 explaining which functionalities would be removed/disabled in the downgrade, so that you could make an informed decision, and asked for your confirmation with that information in mind.

We didn't hear back from you in response to that email, and so the downgrade was not processed. You then contacted us again on June 20, at which point the renewal invoice for Webador Pro had already been issued.

Please note we did also send you an email in advance to remind you the renewal was upcoming, but unfortunately didn't hear back from you regarding that communication either.

To reiterate, our standard process for downgrades includes informing you of specific changes and requesting confirmation, and the renewal process involves sending you a reminder so that you can cancel or downgrade in time t avoid unnecessary charges.

At this point, the features included with Webador Pro have been available to you for almost 2 months of the current term, so we're not able to apply the downgrade retroactively, and the outstanding balance remains due.

We'll be happy to provide you with a transfer code for your renewed domain name - which we've incurred costs for on your behalf - as requested, once the balance owed has been paid. We are not holding that "hostage". If you have any further questions, please feel free to reply to our email again. ^The Webador team

Un helpful

I cancelled my subscription with plenty of time for them to process it and still charged me £122 for the next years subscription,by this time I've deleted all things to do with the website and they can't give me a refund and no response about undeleting the site ,just had response about websit they can't undelete it the customer service is terrible would not recommend at all

We can confirm that we received your cancellation 2 weeks past the required notice period that's detailed in the terms and conditions you agreed to when you initially signed up.

As the cancellation wasn't received in time, your subscription renewed automatically in line with the agreement entered into - which we incur costs for - and which is why you received a final invoice.

Please note we did send you an email reminding you of the upcoming renewal in advance so that you could cancel on time if necessary, but unfortunately didn't hear from you until weeks later.

You deleted your website after cancelling, at which time you were shown a notification advising you that deleting a website is an action that cannot be undone (due to the way backups are stored), so we're unable to restore the website for you.

As we incurred costs to renew your subscription, including the renewal of your domain name registration, we're unable to refund the amount paid. We can of course provide a transfer code for your domain name if you'd like to move it elsewhere.

They refuse to reasonable and see sense over cancelling. They send me an email a month before the due date saying they will continue. I said not. They keep saying that I have to continue with them until July 2026.

Having taken a look at your account, I see that your website was published on June 10th, and hasn't yet been optimized for search engines or linked with Google Search Console. This means it won't yet be indexed in search results, which is why you were unable to find it via search.

Please note that to access your website, the domain name/URL should be entered in the browser's address bar - not the search bar - and we can confirm that will work as intended. You can also share the URL with others so that they can visit your website.

In the meantime, I've sent you an email this morning in which I've shared our search engine optimization resources with you. These resources will help you with keyword selection, content optimization, and linking Google Search Console, as well as resolving any indexing errors.

As advised via email, Google requires some time to "pick up" your website and index it - usually up to 3 weeks. If you're still experiencing findability issues at that time, please feel free to respond to my email and I'll be happy to help. ^Nicola

Cancelled my subscription online via their form, only to be billed for another year a month later. Told that as they can’t see if the form went through we still have to pay.

Do not recommend

Do not recommend. They keep trying to charge my card. I did not know who they even were. So I got a hold of them give them all information and they did not find me in their system, but they’re still trying to charge my card. It stopped for many months now they’re trying to charge my card again. I’m not even in their system I have no idea how they even got my card number. I sent them an email a few days ago. Now, today they just sent me an email stating that they replied a few days ago and haven’t heard from me to discuss the issue and they needed more information. I’m not in their system. I have no idea what information I can give them. I haven’t heard from me. They did not send me one a few days ago. There’s no email in my inbox. This company. I reported to my cc as fraud.

Update. You emailed again stating that you have no record of me. BUT you want me to send you all my info. My full credit card number so you can look it up. That’s not happening. You are already trying to charge my card for something I don’t get or signed up for. Not sending my card number.

Hi Brenda, thank you for your review. We checked the email addresses you shared with us, but we weren't able to find an existing or deleted Webador account associated with any of them.

We can only trace the charges with some valid account information, so when the email addresses didn't turn up anything, we asked for some details about the charges instead. Unfortunately, as you refuse to share that information, our hands are tied.

Often in these cases, it turns out that the charge was from a similar service such as Wix or Weebly, rather than Webador, so I'd recommend checking with them just in case. If the charge was definitely from Webador, we'd really like to receive the details requested so we can trace the account and make sure billing has stopped.

Please note that if we have billed you, that's only possible because you've previously provided your card details to us. Obviously, we can't charge cards at random / without knowing the details, and that information can only come from the cardholder.

If you are billed again and you've double-checked that it's definitely Webador, please let us know and kindly cooperate with our requests so that we can properly assist you in cancelling. We're happy to do so. ^The Webador team
