3GB is only about an hour of internet

Hard to get help. The will send you a list of articles of FAQ. Finally got up and running with 3GB plan, thought I would try that first. Used 60% of my data in a half hour. To bad for me it was at the first of the month. Useless if it is that minimal.

SCAMMERS AND CROOKS

I bought 2 Ryoko devices in November 2024 but, through I’ll health, was not able to try to use them until now (June 2025). I am now informed that in order to use them I need to pay a monthly charge of which was not notified at time of purchase. So, having paid 100€ I need to pay a further minimum of 40€ per month!
The company refuses to refund my purchase claiming that the return period has been exceeded.
What a scam!

Horrible customer service

I ordered the ryoko chargers in Dec. of last year. I returned them within a month, unopened and unused. I finally got a credit for the products but NOT for the Viota service which was 119. I just this month got billed twice in the amount of 89.94. I contacted "customer" care. I sent copies of the credits for the product, tracking # and all information asked for. They will not refund my current charges even tho I've never used the service, saying it had already been loaded on the "sim" card. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE - WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. I am really disappointed that this was on Oprah Winfreys "10 favorite things" and that she would support a company like this.

Fraudulent charges for over a year

I received the Ryoko device and it did not work. I contacted the company and they did not answer my email. I did not know they were going to renew something I did not have i.e. the UAB Viaota and have now scammed me for over $600 Aus$. I have finally received correspondence from them and they have told me they will not refund any money even though I have NEVER been able to use the product or data. Fraud.

After Terminating Acct. in Writing; FCC Complaint

After terminating my Viaota SIM card accounts in writing on 1/2/2025, Viaota.com representative Khrizza said, "Upon checking it is non recurring, so you don't have to cancel." However, after termination, Viaota.com proceeded to continue charging my Charles Schwab visa debit card for recurring charges totaling $326.98.
I attempted to get Viaota's/Ryoko's (same company) Head of Customer Service (J. Torres) to resolve this matter on 5/13/2025, but have yet to get a response.
I had to cancel my Charles Schwab debit card to stop the fraudulent recurring Viaota.com charges, and filed a dispute with Charles Schwab last month regarding those charges.
I recently filed a formal complaint with the FCC regarding Viaota/Ryoko: "The FCC’s Consumer Inquiries and Complaints Center is contacting you about the complaint you filed recently, which was assigned Ticket No. 7857396. Thank you for your submission. Following our review, your complaint was served on your provider on May 20, 2025."
I have yet to hear back from Viaota/Ryoko.

This is a total scam

This is a total scam. Speeds no where near what they say you will get. Want to return? Nope, they don't allow it once you open that box, they won't allow it. Even if you just received it that same day. Unlimited data for 6 months, nope. Not even close, three days in and they are saying you are running out of data, even though it was advertised as unlimited. Save your time and money, avoid this scam.

I’ve been scammed too like the other…

I’ve been scammed too like the other reviews. My unit hasn’t connected to any network since I got it and their support is a bot. Don’t waist your money. I have two emails that I use for things and when I go to change my password because I forgot it. It says to put in the email you used for you plan and a reset email will be sent if your email is on file with them. Well no reset email!!!!!

VIAOTA is a SCAM - DO NOT BUY RYOKO

If I could give negative stars I would. They advertise that I was paying for 6 months of unlimited internet use. After less than 4 days of use it cut off. I actually had it for a week but for 2 days it didn't work for other reasons and it had been cut off by them for a day so only 4 days total of use for "unlimited" internet use. When I called customer service they said that even though I was paying for an unlimited plan, I had used more than my "fair" share so it was cut off until the next month. This is something that after the initial price they were going to charge 179 per month billed 6 months at a time for had I not cancelled. 4 days of internet for 179. I don't game. I don't download. All I did was watch a little netflix in the evening and have my phone connected because my phone service isn't very good out where I live. I told them I wanted my money back because they offered a 30 day money back guarantee and I was told that was only good for unused and unopened products. When I asked for a supervisor, I could literally here crickets in the background so not sure where this was or if this Customer service rep was operating out of their home but she gave me the runaround about high number of escalation calls - that part I believe - but would not allow me to wait on hold for a supervisor. She took my number I was supposed to get a call back...still waiting for that.

VIAOTA AND RYOKO IS A SCAM

I purchased a 4g unlimited plan.."UNLIMITED". 1st the network is spotty and only works at times. So when I finally got it to work. Started connecting my Roku TV and my laptop and after a few days, it didn't work anymore. I waited for a couple of days for the service to reboot and come back, and it did not. I called customer service, so they told me I had more than usual usage, so they throttled my service. I told the rep that I purchased an unlimited plan so there was no way I could have been throttled. They told me that I am using the service for business purposes and that is not allowed.....WHAT....!!!. I asked them to cancel my service and refund me, mind you that I've only had it for two weeks. They refused to cancel my service and refund me. VIAOTA AND RYOKO PORTABLE HOTSPOT ARE SCAMMERS. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.

Bad Company, Stay away…

I agree fully with all previous reviews…. Viaota/Ryoko are both thieves…

I bought an item last year for my holidays in September, and only used it in September…. Locked it in my safe when I got home and haven’t used it since, until I was going to on my next vacation abroad….

But these rob dogs have been taking monies extra to subscriptions for calls and data used each month…. It’s not possible when it’s locked in my safe, you wouldn’t be able to connect anyway through the safe…

Asked for explanation and ‘Lily’, who was about as useful as a chocolate teapot, kept reflecting from the questions and said that in my contract I had agreed to these payments, to which I said, yes I would if I’d used the dam thing, but I haven’t.

Alas, I got no help and was so angry and just cut her off before I did something I regretted later….

Stay well clear… they are just rob dogs… I’m reporting to Trading Standards

Bad customer service

I ordered two Ryoko mobile units. One of them allegedly came with a “free” SIM card. I was being charged $42.99 monthly for each device which only included limited data.

I upgraded one of them to an unlimited data plan, and now get billed $42.99 twice, PLUS an additional $89.99 every month!

I’ve had to provide my bank statement to prove the charges, and am still being told that I have three active SIM cards though I only possess the two devices.

Their customer service is the worse I’ve ever experienced!!! This issue has not been resolved despite multiple emails detailing the situation!

Crooks!

Crooks!! They sell you products without any instructions. They charge you for services that you did not ask for. If you try to get a hold of them, they never answer their phone. Never never work with them.

Would give them nothing. Edit*

Would give them nothing! Ryoko, I'd detach from them ASAP. Because of them, I won't even use your product. Tried to get service for the ryoko portable, never got a tracking number or anything. Then contacted them and they said it was delivered and it was the mail carriers fault. I can understand, IF I would of gotten a tracking number. But nothing. No help at all. Viaota, I hope your scamming business goes OUT of business. Edit*** So after giving them a second chance, I got a card with no instructions, how to activate, where to go, ect. Then Maureen from the assistance was just horrible. Wouldn't even reach back to help. I'll stick with my review... save yourself the time...
