No Longer Interested in Serving Their Customers

I have done a fair amount of business with University Bicycles (ubikes.com) since the mid 80's. This includes taking my current bike (Specialized Crossroads) to them ~3 yrs. ago. Today I called them to find out how long I would need to wait to receive service. The service center did not even bother to find out what service I needed. The tech just asked how old the bike was. When I told him I did not know and that I bought it used, his response was that University Bicycles could not work on old bikes because they could not get parts and did not know how to work on them. My bikes needs a new chain, brake adjustment and possibly new tubes. Any bike mechanic can do this. What University Bicycles really means is that they will not do it. The message is clear, people who work for a living are not welcome.
