Is It Really Worth It?
Operating under the name THRU BIKE TRANSPORT this bicycle shipping logistics company markets itself as a premium, white glove, delivery service. Customer receives the new bike fully assembled and ready to ride sans pedals. Not the cheapest option but something to consider vs. UPS or FedEx when shipping very expensive products. Do you get what you pay for? With THRU not necessarily. They fancy themselves a concierge service and as such you expect premium customer service. My experience was not that.
PROS:
*Fully assembled bike hand delivered.
*Tech who delivered the bike was great and
communication here was much better.
CONS: In my case THRU failed to respond to either voice or email message where I requested confirmation of the delivery date. I got no reply to either request that is until late in the day before the scheduled delivery date informing me my delivery was pushed back a day. When you juggle a busy work schedule to be home to receive a pre order custom bike you've waited for over 6 months the simple expectation is that you either meet the deadline or reach out well in advance to reschedule. Not too much to ask right. The dealer where the bike was purchased defaults to THRU so I didn't really have a choice. I personally would have chosen BIKEFLIGHTS. And yes bike is shipped partially assembled via a common carrier but I've not had a bad bike shipping experience with UPS or FedEx to date and you get reliable tracking info with delivery to my doorstep in 4-5 days vs. 2 weeks with THRU. Would I recommend THRU, yes but with reservations.
