Insurance fraud
I purchased AIG travel insurance (AON) through Expedia. When ITA Airlines canceled the final leg of my flight, I was forced to buy a significantly more expensive replacement ticket with another carrier. Upon filing a reimbursement claim, AIG requested "Documentation from carrier verifying the reason of the cancellation/delay."
However, ITA Airlines has stated that it does not provide such documentation. I relayed this to AIG, yet they continue to insist on receiving it. This raises serious concerns about AIG’s claims process, as they are knowingly requesting documentation that cannot be obtained — effectively denying valid claims through unreasonable demands.

This company is a scam
This company is a scam , BIG-TIME . My trip was delayed 6 days travelling to Mexico due to two snow storms back to back in Montreal/Ottawa . I was stranded in Fredericton for 6 days having to pay for bed and breakfast , plus cab fares back and forth to the airport 5 times, due to cancellations . I lost 6 days on my vacation out of 14 days, which was prepaid . I was only claiming my out of pocket expenses during my stay in Fredericton for the 6 days stranded ,as I lived in Grand Barachois, near Moncton . I submitted all cancellation documents from Air Canada and receipts during my stay in Fredericton totaling 1,250.00 . Travel Guard sent me a check for 100.00 to settle the claim and said I had 30 days to dispute it . What an insult . A total RIP -OFF this company is .

I strongly advise against using this…
I strongly advise against using this company for travel insurance. I submitted a legitimate claim for a trip disruption, and the experience was extremely frustrating. They requested an unreasonable number of documents, making it nearly impossible to complete the claim process. It felt like they were doing everything they could to avoid paying. Very disappointing service.

Buyer Beware - Terrible Company
I recently planned a hotel stay for a night in New York. I purchased the insurance policy just because I have had to cancel trips in the past. According to the policy I purchased,
Trip Cancelation
The Company will pay a benefit to reimburse the Insured for covered expenses up to the maximum limit shown in
The Schedule or Declarations Page, if an Insured cancels his/her Trip due to any of the following Unforeseen
events:
(a) Death of the Insured, or a Family Member, Traveling Companion, or Business Partner;
My former foster mother passed away, and her Celebration of Life will be held the weekend of my trip. Upon canceling the hotel and filing a claim, I am now not allowed to cancel for that reason. I have lost $268.05, which may not be a lot for some, but I am in my 60s and living on a fixed budget.

ONE AND ONE WITH THIS SCAM TRAVEL…
ONE AND ONE WITH THIS SCAM TRAVEL INSURANCE POLICY. I WANTED TO CHANGE MY RETURN DATE OF MY POLICY BECAUSE I CHANGED MY FLIGHT DATE AND I WAS ON THE PHONE WITH A COMPLETE IDIOT ASKING ME SOME OF THE DUMBEST QUESTIONS AND I SAID JUST LOOK UP MY NAME AND YOU SHOULD HAVE ALL THAT INFORMATION. IT TOOK ONE HOUR OF CRAP AND THEN SHE SAID I OWE THEM 30 CENTS. I SAID WHAT? IT'S THE SAME POLICY JUST LEAVE A WEEK LATER. ANYONE THAT READS THAT AND PURCHASES A TRAVEL INSURANCE POLICY FROM THEM HAS TO BE AS BRAIN DEAD AS THE WOMAN I SPOKE WITH. LIKE I SAID THIS IS ONE AND DONE FOR THIS COMPANY.

I had to cancel trip but I had insurance
I had to cancel trip but I had insurance. The hotel refused to give me a refund. I reached out to my insurance. They emailed me and said my claim was denied because I had no insurance and then in the SAME email said they had refunded me for the insurance. Make it make sense. $1300! I reached out to my credit union. Hopefully I’ll have more luck!

I’d give zero stars if I could
I’d give zero stars if I could. I bought very expensive travel insurance on ann international flight only to have them refuse to help me change my flight and tell me I had to pay for a new flight and file a claim that would take 4-6 weeks. This is pathetic service at best, fraud at worst. I’ll never buy trip insurance again.

If there was less than a 1 star
If there was less than a 1 star, I would leave it.
We purchased travel insurance to attend a wedding in Mexico for my son. My step-father was admitted to the hospital for a tripple bi-pass and we were unable to travel. I submitted all of documentation including a lengthy dr note.
I have been dealing with this for over one month and my 81-year-old mother is out her insurance cost.
Constant calls only to have to leave a vm, constant emails asking for things that have already been uploaded. one can only assume this is done intentionally to avoid policy payment.
I am telling of my experience to save someone the cost of the policy only to be ghosted by this horrible company

Travel Guard Insurance Is a Scam – You’re Better Off Without It
I canceled my flight due to a medical emergency and got nowhere—Travel Guard, Expedia for TD (who sold me the insurance at check out), and the airline all passed the blame. No help, no coverage. I’ll never use them again—you’ll save more by skipping the insurance.

DO NOT use this travel insurance company.
Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT use this travel insurance company. They do not deliver on their mandate to provide reimbursement due to delay/interruption or cancellation. A delayed flight resulted in a missed connection. In order to get home on same day, $2,500 was spent on 2 one way tickets on another carrier.
Each correspondence has had at least 6 different agents replying and each time this issue has to be repeated. They have denied the claim.
Isn’t this example the reason why we take out insurance. I’d love to hear more them about this situation and I will keep pursuing.

Do not by their insurance
Do not by their insurance, it’s the money grab. They literally will only cover you if there’s a natural disaster or someone in the family died

SCAM DONT USE
Had a trip booked for march of 2025. My travel partner ended up getting sick and having emergency surgery. The surgery was botched and he almost died. This company still refuses to issue a refund even with doctors notes, proof the the hospital, and every other form submitted.
Huge scam. KRYSTLE BURCLAW has been completely useless in assisting us and just continues to give me the run around and tell me I need to send in forms that I've already sent in at least 4 times.

Making it impossible to get your money…
Making it impossible to get your money back.
Asking to fill complicated long forms. Asking you to contact the airway and get docs which today are impossible to get.
Hard to reach.
DO NOT PAY THEM A SINGLE DOLLAR

This company has no soul
This company has no soul. I paid for a trip that I was going to take in Oct 2025. I had some bad news and had to cancel the trip. I sent an email to Travel guard explaining that I had to cancel and could I get a refund on the insurance payment I made. I received an email back telling me that my claim had been denied, that I had 15 days to cancel. I NEVER USED IT. THE TRIP WANT UNTIL OCT.
Stay away from this company at all costs. Just lost over $200.

Purchased Insurance and had to cancel Plans 3 weeks after purchased tickets which they recommend I purchase Travel Guard Insurance. I submitted all documents . Had someone assist me and her comment was well this is less than 30 days should be NO problem...I was denied for basically unless you died no refund

TRAVEL GUARD KEEPS YOUR MONEY ON CANCELLED FLIGHTS
Travel Guard is a terrible company.
Under no circumstances use their insurance when booking a flight.
If your flight is cancelled they do not refund you. They hope you don’t know you have to ask for your money back within 2 weeks or they keep it.
Apparently something magical happens to your money and it becomes theirs after two weeks.
That is their policy. It’s a policy of theft.
I was refunded immediately by the airline on a canceled flight and assumed since I paid for the insurance when I bought my ticket I would get that back as well.
They are a bad faith company with reviews that are all under 2 stars.
Maybe they should be investigated by Elon Musk.

Coverage denied for illness prior to trip
I had to cancel a trip 4 days prior to the start date because of severe shortness of breath, documented by several MD visits, which was soon diagnosed as lung cancer. The trip was a winter trip to Norway/Finland and required being outside in the cold, and being able to walk moderate distances. With my shortness of breath, which led to severe coughing spells, I could not do the trip. Travel guard denied the claim, saying it was not covered under "Trip Interruption"

We traveled to South America had…disgusted with Travelgard
We traveled to South America had Travelgard insurance. We could not get to Machu Picchu in Peru because of political unrest and a transportation country wide strike. The US Stare Department advised of not traveling in Peru after we got to Chile. Travelgard would not pay the upcharge in return flights home even though things such as this were covered. They skinne out trying to find loopholes.
We thought they were a reputable division of AIG. WE ARE FINISHED WITH TRAVELGARD AND TRAVEL INSURANCE. Now, I just but medical travel insurance from the airline.

I purchased a one way plane ticket…
I purchased a one way plane ticket along with travel insurance. When I learned I needed a return ticket bc of the country I was going to, I called to add a return ticket policy. It was really ridiculously complicated to add that on but we finally were able to. And the woman that helped me said repeatedly that the new charge was Only for the return flight. My first charge was for the flight there, and second charge for the flight back. I understand that. I changed my flight in January so I could visit another country. I went ahead with a different company for a year long travel insurance plan. I contacted travel guard about cancelling the policy for my return flight. They refused saying it was a package. Which I was told repeatedly that it was Not by the agent that assisted me.

No integrity: SCAM alert
Per the policy I am eligible for insurance on my changed new flight itenerary as stated:"If the request is made prior to your travel dates (of the new flight) you may modify your insurance policy and apply the entire premium paid to a new booked trip. In order to make a change to the travel dates listed on your policy, the new travel dates cannot be more than one year beyond the original travel dates. Your new premium will be calculated based on the details of your rebooked trip. If the new premium is greater than your original premium, there will be additional premium charged. If the new premium is less than your original premium, no amount of the original premium will be refunded. Please note that once you modify your policy, you will not be able to file a claim against the original policy or trip. To modify your insurance policy, please click here."
The request has been made prior to my new travel dates and within the year. I did not miss a flight therefore my insurance is still applicable as it covers changes and cancelations.
They have yet to resolve the refund and are not being accountable to their lack of transparency in informing me of my insurance not being applied to my changes in flight plan nor willing to reimburse the purchased policy. They only asked me to re-purchase and file a claim.
