Be warned and move on do not use Travelers for your homeowners policy!
First time using our homeowners insurance with Travelers and last time using them!
I’m assuming during some high winds or storms over last summer, the flashing around our chimney loosened a little allowing water seepage to get behind it.
Can you believe that we don’t walk around on our roof or look at the flashing around our chimney?
It wasn’t until spring when we had our chimney cleaned that the chimney swift noticed that all of the stone was starting to crack and pull away from our 35 foot chimney.
I called the stone Mason to come out and give me a quote to have it all torn down and redone.
At that time we didn’t know about the flashing. We couldn’t figure out what was wrong with the stone because we had it around our foundation and around our garage doors and none of it had pulled loose?
When the workmen were up on the roof, that’s when they discovered that they couldn’t step between the chimney and the back gutter because the roof had gotten soft from water leaking under the flashing and under the shingles.
I called our general contractor, and my husband and him both looked in our attic and saw the saturated plywood under the shingles.
Lots of pictures lots of documentation and then a lot of runaround!
It took Travelers approximately 2 1/2 weeks to tell us no no no!
Apparently, the only way they cover water damage is if it’s a sudden birthed of water as in maybe a pipe or an appliance leaking and the leakage is less than two weeks.
So I’m out $21,000 between the roof fixed and the stone resurfacing and our homeowners policy is a damn joke!
The only investigation they did was send a kid out with a drone to fly over our house, which showed nothing because the chimney was tarped off once the stonemasons saw the loose flashing.
We had to bring in roofers to correct the roof problem before the chimney could be finished.
This homeowners insurance policy is a little used to me. Our house is costly and they basically picked our pockets because they didn’t cover a dime.
Please, please please do not use this company!

Deeply Unfair Claims Process – Treated Like a Suspect, Not a Policyholder
Avoid these sharks. I submitted a theft claim with full supporting evidence, including proof of purchase, security compliance, Datatag verification, and even voluntarily attended a recorded interview with an investigator. Despite this, I was subjected to invasive and irrelevant questioning that went far beyond the terms of the policy — including why I’m not on the electoral roll and personal questions about my family.
After fully cooperating, I was then told a second third-party investigation would be required — without any explanation of what was missing from the first. When I asked for clarification, I was told I wouldn’t receive one until after the second interview, and that my claim would simply be “put on hold” if I refused. Consistently being given information that completely breaches FCA rules.
Still awaiting a decision on my claim. Even when trying to find out if they have received my formal complaint, the switchboard states they have no complaints department!? Emails and phone calls to the so called 'complaints department' listed online that does not exist go unanswered.
This is not how policyholders should be treated. I feel bullied, ignored, and left completely in the dark. I am now escalating to the Financial Ombudsman and reporting to the FCA. Travelers has shown no regard for fairness or transparency.

Travelers should not even be in…
Travelers should not even be in business. I wonder why consumer protection is allowing this people to remain in business. They are very poor with handling consumer relationships. They are manipulative and act illegal.

Travelers insurance is the worst car insurance company I have ever experienced in my life time. They will mess up your policy and when you cancel your policy and find another insurance company they act like little children and report you to the dmv plus report you to collection agency
because you dumped there sorry butts and got a real insurance company to fill your needs. Would never recommend Travelers insurance not even to my worst enemy!!!

Avoid the Travelers Insurance Company
Travelers Insurance Company, Bearing Insurance Group, Bankers Insurance.net
I was a long-term client, as they provided the policy for property I had in Virginia. I informed the many days in advance that the property would be sold and I needed to cancel my policy. They said they wanted to wait ‘til the actual day in case anything went wrong. I agreed.
The closing day came, and then seven more days passed. I heard nothing from them. I carefully explain to them once again that the property had been sold and I wanted to cancel. They gave me these lame excuses about having to go down this path and that path, etc. etc.
Long story short: they're playing the float with my money. They hang on to their client's money for as long as they can, making all kinds of excuses. Then, after you go through the ordeal, apparently get your money. It's been 12 days since I closed on the property I still don't have my refund, so make your own assessment as to whether you want to work with this group or not.

The Fine Insurance Group
Been with the Fine Insurance Group for years, once we switched to another insurance company I guess we were not worth shit.
Changed over to progressive in November of 2024, BECAUSE IT WAS CHEAPER, told Stacy to cancel our policy with Travelers.
She didn't, because I didn't send her an email, but she was told on the phone!
Now we are getting collection notices for a policy Stacy should have cancel, no email should have been required, she was told on the phone and said she would take care of it! We have text to comfirm.
I guess that email bullshit gives them some extra money for their condo in Florida.
After all the years we have been with Jason and Stacy, and came back to them after the Farmer’s incident, that they would do this to us.
BEST THING WE DID WAS TO GO TH PROGRESSIVE!!

Underhanded billing practices
I recently moved from Nevada to Connecticut where I had previously been a resident for 62 years. I got a 6 month quote for auto insurance and paid in full on February 7th. I got an additional bill in April because my coverage was not the same limits as I had in Nevada. The problem is I upgraded my coverage limits in Ct which reduces Travelers liability. My agent tried to go to my defense but Travelers would not remove the extra charge. This is not right I consider Traveler's ins to be a corrupt company who abuses there clients simply because they can.

Absolutely Horrible Customer Service By…
Absolutely Horrible Customer Service By Far The Worst I have Ever dealt with in my life. I called In April before I billed for May , I had a death in my family and wanted to know the last day to pay my policy to avoid a lapse in coverage. The CSR advised me to call and pay on 4/30 he failed to mention that I would have to pay My May bill on the same day even though that bill is not due until 5/20. So I called to speak with another CSR Rebecca, she lacked professionalism she was very rude, could not answer my questions she kept talking over me and then had the audacity to hang up on me. I called back she answered the phone again I asked her on a recorded line why she hung up on me? She Hung up on me again. These are the people Travelers have working for them do yourself a favor and select a better insurance company Do not make my mistake. I Deeply Regret Calling them to start my auto policy their customer service is poor and they will not give you correct information.

I had the best experience with my Travelers adjuster!
Scott McCormac is the insurance adjuster for a water damage claim to my home. He was punctual for our meeting and very friendly, informative and helpful in answering my many questions. He also provided me with the name of a company for the restoration process, and this company turned out to be a real gem. Scott's communication was excellent and I highly recommend his time, knowledge and professionalism as an adjuster to others.

Travelers Insurance - avoid
Travelers is a terrible insurance company. I am a 100% disabled veteran and our home was destroyed by a hurricane. 8 months later we are still trying to get reimbursed for work we had done. They made us jump through a million hoops, made us get all of the repairs done and prove they were done to code, then we sit around and wait for almost a year now to try to get fully reimbursed. Unfortunately I think it may take the help of an attorney to recover the money that is owed to us. Meanwhile, our premium has increased and they dropped us on our auto insurance, despite us having no at fault accidents in the past 5 years. Oh, they also tried to cancel our home policy because they said we failed to respond to one of their requests for photos, but we were able to prove we sent that info and that we called to verify that they received it, the day we received the request. After proving that and jumping through more hoops they were gracious enough to continue the coverage we pay for.

Disappointing Claims Experience – Lack of Transparency, Shifting Dates, and Denials Without Justification
I’m writing this review to share my experience as a paying customer with Travelers Insurance during a recent homeowner’s claim. What began as a standard roof and interior water damage claim turned into a frustrating ordeal marked by inconsistent communication, delayed responses, and a complete lack of accountability from the claims team.
Here are the key issues I encountered:
1. Travelers Changed the Date of Loss Without Explanation
After reporting storm-related damage on February 12, 2025, Travelers originally recorded the correct loss date as February 11, 2025. Later, without notifying me or justifying the change, they backdated the claim to May 2024. This arbitrary adjustment was never explained—and was used to deny or limit parts of my coverage.
2. They Denied Code-Required Repairs, Despite Proof
Despite their own field adjuster and my contractor confirming that my roof decking was structurally unsound, Travelers refused to cover its replacement. The local city code requires decking to be replaced if it fails inspection, which mine clearly did (we provided photos, a pull test, and a code citation). Still, they denied the repair, even though my policy includes coverage for code-mandated upgrades.
3. I Was Given False Deadlines with No Policy Support
A Travelers representative told me I had “two weeks from the date of loss” to report related damages—an arbitrary deadline that doesn’t exist in my policy. When asked to cite the source, they admitted they hadn’t reviewed the policy and that the instruction came from management. To this day, no one at Travelers has been able to show me that clause in writing.
4. Policy Language Was Withheld Repeatedly
I made multiple formal requests for Travelers to cite the exact language in my policy used to justify their decisions (splitting claims, denying decking, imposing deadlines). Every time, they either deflected or ignored the request. If a customer asks how a decision was made, they deserve a clear answer—not a runaround.
5. Refusal to Provide Adjuster License Information
I asked for the full names and license numbers of the adjusters involved in my claim. Travelers refused, telling me I needed to request that from the state directly. This lack of transparency is deeply troubling.
In short, Travelers Insurance made this process harder than it needed to be, treating me less like a policyholder and more like an obstacle to minimize payouts. I’ve since filed a formal complaint with the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI).
I’m sharing this not out of frustration alone—but to inform other homeowners of what to expect when filing a claim. If you value clear communication, accountability, and policyholders being treated fairly, I recommend reconsidering your choice of insurer.

Would 5/5 not recommended
Would 5/5 not recommended to anybody. I’ve been with this same company since I began driving and it’s truly been a less than enjoyable experience. Just in the past year they’ve increased my rates 5 times, although I haven’t had a single driving infraction. They tell you if you get your G your rates will drop. They didn’t. They tell you when your ticket comes off your rates will drop. It’s been 2 years since any ticket has come off and my rates have only increased. The employees are less than helpful and quite frankly difficult. They are robbing their customers and don’t bat an eye at it. Truly disappointing experience especially as a long time customer.

Dreadful company
Dreadful company. Will not cancel policies when you request, then put you through torment to get a policy cancelled, and will continue to debit your bank account after you cancel. I still have not received a refund from a premium they debited my account for after I had cancelled my auto policy.

I experienced two water-related damages…
I experienced two water-related damages at my rental property—one from roof wear and tear and another from a pipe feeding a spigot in the front yard. Travelers denied coverage for the roof, citing wear and tear, so I had to cover the full replacement cost myself. However, they did cover the interior damage.
Five months later, I filed a claim for the pipe issue. Travelers informed me that filing two claims in the same year would result in a premium increase the following year. Despite this, I chose to proceed, paid my deductible, and had the repair done.
Eight months later, I received an email stating that my policy would not be renewed because I had filed two water damage claims within a year. When I called customer service for clarification—asking why I was being penalized for unforeseeable events and why they continued sending mail to my old address despite multiple updates—the only response I received was a dismissive "These are our rules."
In the meantime, I purchased a second property and moved my business elsewhere. I will soon be switching my auto policy as well. I will never do business with Travelers or its affiliates again.
