Great reformer classes

Great reformer classes and really want to shout out Nehir's beginner classes. I'm new to reformer and have loved her sessions, they've been an amazing workout to help me recover from an injury.

Kings Cross - PT and Phsyio female health

Kings Cross - Jeanna K and Caitlin I - amazing!!!
I really can’t thank them both enough for the incredible support and guidance provided during one of the most challenging times in my life. After a traumatic delivery due to severe pre-eclampsia and the early arrival of my premature baby, I was physically and emotionally drained. Jeanna K from Kings Cross Ten Health helped me navigate my post-partum recovery with compassion, professionalism, and deep expertise.

She tailored every session to my needs and recovery pace, always listening to my body’s signals while encouraging me to rebuild strength and confidence. Her professional approach didn’t just help me regain physical fitness-it played a crucial role in my emotional healing too. She also recommended I see Catlin I in parallel (Physio) which really was a game changer in my recovery.

Jeanna as a PT truly understood the challenges new mothers and their bodies face, especially those recovering from difficult births. I felt supported, seen, and empowered every step of the way. I am beyond grateful for her help and would recommend her to any new mother looking for a knowledgeable and empathetic personal trainer.

Superb dynamic whilst safe Pilates

I have been visiting the studio at Kings Cross now for some months and I just love it. After trying other Pilates studios in London I was a little hesitant but this place is wonderful. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable, Sarah in particular is so gifted at delivering a challenging but safe workout with emphasis on form and technique. The physio services are also brilliant.

I have been receiving PT treatment from Samantha Rule

I have been receiving treatment from Sam for a trapped nerve in my neck which was, from the outset, extremely debilitating. With ongoing treatment and a structured exercise regime I have been able to regain my strength and mobility to be able to get back on court competitively

I was referred for physio following major abdominal surgery

I was referred for physio following major abdominal surgery which I underwent in December last year. So, I was feeling quite fragile and flattened before I started my sessions with Samantha Rule at Ten Pilates in Chiswick. Samantha is really great and spent a lot of time listening to me (she is also very knowledgable in the area of Women's Health which has also been very helpful and useful) reassured me about my fears and also agreed upon what I was hoping to gain from our sessions. Slowly but surely, I have regained confidence and built up strength with a series of exercises which are closely monitored by Samantha. I just wish I had started physio much sooner as it's made a huge difference both physically and mentally to how I feel about my body. Samantha has a very relaxed approach, is patient and makes you feel comfortable and at ease. I am getting stronger and feel more confident all the time now and I would highly recommend considering Samantha for your physio needs.

I was referred to Ten (Joana Carmo)…

I was referred to Ten (Joana Carmo) following reconstructive surgery on my ankle, she was brilliant in getting me back to running.

She didn't want to see me three times a week like some physios would and if I had not done the required exercises then she would move appointments out to save wasting them.

I've been signed off by her and am back to running, doing pilates and in a much better space.

for the work I had done on my ankle I was not hoping for too much, but was ver pleased with the outcome.

Horrible experience

Horrible experience, my appointment got cancelled when I was 2 min from the door becauce the physiotherapist was to lazy to wait and I’ve still got charged the full amount. Also worth mentioning that I’ve called in advance to mention that I’m running 15 min late and they told me over the phone it’s fine.

I currently attend Ten for it massage and class offering and can not recommend it enough to my friends. The trainer quality is excellent and even their new trainers seem to be a level higher than other providers.

Really sensational

I had a Sports Massage with Monika at King's Cross, and it was undoubtedly the most professional pair of hands that I have ever experienced for physical therapy. She quickly identified where my issues were and wasted no time in remedying them. I left the session feeling notably different, and carrying significantly less tension.

Monitor expenses if they have access to your card details

In August, I encountered an issue where I was unexpectedly charged £500 for 20 classes on my card, with no prior email notification. This situation became increasingly frustrating.

After a month of back-and-forth emails and finally receiving a full refund, my last email to them expressed my disappointment:

It's disheartening that Ten isn't taking responsibility for mishandling their customers' bank details and processing payments without proper confirmation. Upon reviewing their emails, it's evident that my £2000 annual contribution doesn't seem significant enough for them to value a loyal customer. Trying to shift blame onto a customer, especially when there are no recorded calls, is simply unreasonable.

I won't be continuing my membership with Ten. It's appalling to be treated so poorly, especially when I was the one highlighting their wrongdoing and didn't even receive an apology.

For fellow Pilates enthusiasts, please exercise caution and closely monitor your expenses at Ten. They don't seem diligent when it comes to charging your cards, and they don't always send email notifications for your purchases.

Hi Celina
Sorry for the slow reply. We'd lost out login for this website and it took a while to sort that out. I've now had some time to find out what happened here. I’m sorry you to hear that you had this experience. I can see that it’s frustrating and worrying, however, I’m not sure that it’s appropriate to blame us for what happened.
Apologies for the lengthy response but you’re raised a number of issues and it’s important to address them.
As I understand it, someone called one of our Studios using your name, and confirming the phone number we have on file for you, to buy a block of classes. You already had a monthly membership so buying more classes on top is unusual, but it does happen. As the classes were in your name and we had been given two forms of identification, there was no reason to be suspicious. A massage was also booked a little later by someone using your name. This is when you contacted us to say that these purchases were not made by you.
You alerted us to this on Aug 17th, and received a full refund on the 21st - not an unreasonable delay.
It’s hard to see how we have mishandled your bank details, as it was your credit card not your bank account that was used. It’s also hard to understand why someone else would pretend to be you in order to book services in your name somewhere where you’re an existing, regular, and recognisable client.
It’s true that the calls were not recorded. We don’t always record them and I’m not keen that we do - it’s not really the personal approach we like - but given the times, it seems we may have to. I will raise that with the team. FYI, the number used was withheld so I’m not sure what would be gained by recording the call (other than to demonstrate that we had done what we said we did).
It’s also true that you didn’t get a receipt for the first purchase. We have already explained why, but have now changed the process, even though it is likely to irritate the many clients who specifically ask us not to send them receipts.
Lastly, and perhaps most important, I’m also sorry to hear that you don’t feel valued by us. I can assure you that this absolutely not the case. But as I hope you’ll appreciate this is a strange and complicated situation that has taken some time to unravel.
Let me be clear, there is absolutely no intent to 'shift blame’ on to you for any of this, but on the other hand, it is also hard to see how we’re at fault.

Another great service from Ten Health (Notting Hill branch)

I went to Ten Health for the second time this year, where Ilias saw me quickly for a slip disc made worse by muscolioskeletal symptoms. Ilias (Notting Hill) provided effective treatment including a massage suited to my condition. The exercises he recommended to do at home were incredibly useful in relieving the excruciating slip disc pain. After only a few appointments my back was getting better and the road to recovery was in sight. Really grateful to Ilias for such a speedy and professional service.

Ten Pilates Recommended

I've been going to Ten Pilates 2-3 times every week for 18 months now and highly recommend them. I have found all instructors to be knowledgeable and helpful. As all the trainers learn the Ten Pilates way the classes are very consistent, and there are new moves added all the time so that I always learn something new in every class. I have moved up through each level and even though some moves are challenging I've never had an injury as they provide plenty of advice about the correct form.

Public Health Hazard

Public Health Hazard - Hatton Garden

Be warned, this “health club” is based in a water damaged basement with no windows and poor ventilation!

I am natural health practitioner, working with clients who suffer from chronic fatigue – for anyone who does not know what this is, it’s extreme fatigue which can last for decades. It's often due to environmental exposure to heavy metals, mold, or other environmental pollutants, and is incredibly difficult to treat.

During my second visit I noticed that the hallway floor was damp and spongy, which suggested that the building was suffering from water damage that needs to be addressed. When I asked about this, adding that the building smells of damp, one of the team members grimaced and nodded her head.

I raised the issue with management on 1st September 2022, along with several other issues, however, I’ve had the misfortune of dealing with an unhelpful team of people who have no real care or regard of my custom.

I purchased an unlimited package, however, after my second visit I was unable to make the class – when I tried to cancel, I saw a message saying I would be charged £15.00, and did I wish to proceed? This was at 10am and the class was at 6pm, so I ignored it thinking it doesn’t apply to me since I had pre-paid for an unlimited package. However, £15.00 was debited from my card, so I went in to ask to see my contract and was told that it is written on the websites T&C’s.

This surprised me as no one mentioned that there is a 24-hour cancellation period or a £15.00 penalty when I signed up, and the T&Cs were not sent to me. I was also not told that I would not be allowed to enter a class without grip socks which cost £14.00 – the reception team seemed happy to tell me that they are cheaper on Amazon, however, it would have been helpful to tell me that they were required upon joining, along with the 24-hour cancellation fee and £15.00 penalty charge.

As a side note, I am also a member of Gym Box which is 5 mis walk from Ten Health Fitness – they have a one-hour cancellation period, and a 3-strike ban preventing you from booking a further class, which ends within a month, (you can still attend a class, you just can’t pre-book), so this 24-hour cancellation notice, and £15.00 penalty really took me by surprise.

The gym agreed to refund the £15.00 as a gesture of goodwill on 6th September, and my money paid for unused classes – it took 3 weeks to receive the £15.00 and 6 weeks later I am still playing email ping-pong whilst waiting for the remaining balance. A quick look at their accounts on Companies House shows that they are in dire straights!

Moral of the story, if a gym doesn’t offer you a contract or highlight their T&C’s they can change the T&Cs at their discretion and charge you without notification. If a gym has poor ventilation, or any signs of water damage or smell of damp do not enter!

I am hopping that this gym will eventually honor their word, in the meantime, I’ve raised the issue with the Citizens Advice Bureau who also contacted Trading Standards.

Unexpected charges and no refund

I bought one month for 7 pilates classes in Mayfair studio in June for £135 and finished the package.
Then I saw £135 out of my account in August. I called up Ten and asked, the person who picked up the call said he would contact his office to set this straight as the Mayfair studio is closed from August and this shouldn't happen. I waited but didn't get my refund so I emailed them a couple times, also dispute with my bank.

Yet, somehow they told my bank that I bought 3 months membership and they won't refund the money.

Firstly, if it was really 3 months membership (which it wasn't), then they would have taken the money in July, when my first month ends in June.

Secondly, I bought for Mayfair studio and the studio closed in August. Should they ask the customer if they want to continue to join other studios before charging them? They didn't contact me and just charged me in August for £135 without an explanation.

I think this is terrible customer service but also rip off when you charge someone without providing them the service and without notice.

*** An update:
A customer service person from Ten Health said that they would refund after my complaints. However, until today 28th Novermber 2022, I haven't received any refund from them. I emailed her but no reply.

So poor! Receptionist is JUST AWFUL!

So poor! If I could give less than 1 star I would have. The receptionist is awful and there is absolutely no understanding from their behalf. I was looking for where the "gym" was and when I finally found it, the receptionist said that regardless of the fact that it was my first time, that I have already paid for the class and the fact that I was already dressed for the class- she will not let me in as I was 1 minute late after their 5 minute policy (i.e. 6 minutes late). Of course they not only did not let me attend the class, they did charge me and they did even consider the possibility of allowing me to reschedule the class. The service is so poor and the receptionist staff is clearly lacking any humane attitude and competency to be in this position. Since I work in the City, I could have been a potential client for a long time, however, with this kind of attitude and lack of understanding, I will never go back there.

AVOID THIS PLACE!

AVOID THIS PLACE!
I signed up to a reformer pilates Sunday class in your Mayfair club. I booked it on Saturday night as there were available spaces. Somewhere I understood but I also found a bit strange that I couldn't book an intermediate class without doing a beginner class first. When I arrived to the location, the girl at the reception (who was the instructor) asked me if I brought grip socks. Before booking a class it was never stated or flagged that I need to prepare grip socks! I have done reformer pilates before and I was barefoot, it was never a problem. The girl offered me to buy your £12(!!!!) grip socks. I was shocked! I told her that she cannot be serious. After paying £30 for one 60 minutes class I am not going to spend another £12 ON SOCKS! First I asked if I can get a refund and then I asked if they have the grip socks in size small. They ran out of sizes and I told her I am not going to buy a pair of grip socks for that amount that's not even in my size!
At the end I was okay to do the class in my own socks. The class was below average, I am not even sure if the girl was an actual certified pilates instructor. She hardly mentioned anything about breathing - when to breath out and breath in. As far as I know it's an essential part of pilates. She hardly acknowledged me, I had to ask her regarding my posture if it was correct. It was only the five of us so she could have corrected everyone in the class, she was more occupied what songs are playing. At the end of the class, she didn't even ask me if I liked the class, she asked talked to two regulars and then disappeared. Horrendous experience, never again!
For Mayfair, you would expect high standards, I am surprised how you can be still in business if that's how you treat your paying customers. I'm glad I am part of a pilates chat on Instagram where girls are keen to try classes in London, I will make sure they won't go to your classes and not waste their money!
