They fit well but I don’t really like the jagged edge. It’s normally smooth.

The customer service is excellent. I sent my impression kit back, and it took a month to process. The new set of retainers came in a beautiful package with nice amenities, and the retainers fit perfectly. No jagged edges to deal with and very little discomfort with the first set.
Very happy with the process!

Retainer Subscription Review
I continue to buy retainers from SmileSet on the subscription plan. I started the completed the aligner treatment while they were still Smile Direct. They were Dr Direct for about 6 months before becoming Smile Set in January 2025. The retainer trays are the same quality as before and my last pair made it all 6 months without cracking. They use a little less plastic up towards the gums than they used to I which is a good thing because it leads to less irritation in the first week. Consistent use of the retainers has kept my teeth from reverting and I am still happy with the results. My recent order shipped on time in a protective plastic case. Some people had poor experiences with this company for a variety of reasons related to either the original smile direct bankruptcy or just not being a good candidate for this minimally supervised treatment, but if you had a good experience like I did and are in the retainer phase, I recommend continuing to use them to keep your progress.

The Night Guard Nightmare
I sent imprints and pictures to SmileDirectClub and was approved in three days. With SmileSet, I've sent five imprints and photographs, and the company sent me another imprint kit. I've been trying to get my nightguards since April 2025. I spoke to the customer service reps several times. They were polite and helpful, but the situation was beyond their pay grade. The last conversation with the customer rep mentioned that it would take two weeks for the manufacturer to make and ship my night guards instead. I received another imprint kit. Smh.
I'm still waiting for the delivery of my night guards to arrive. A person's teeth will be separated by the time you get the finished product. No night guards. I'm still waiting on the delivery. A person's teeth will be separated by the time you get the finished product.
The patient portal is not updated regularly to track the progress. I'm not sure if the night guards are being created or lost in transition. The TBD status has been there for a while. I would recommend that the company streamline its process to obtain the night guards efficiently.

Bait and switch for old smile direct…
Bait and switch for old smile direct customers to purchase retainers. Old scans are “corrupted” and they are just trying to send you an impression kit to loop you back into the scam.

My requests were disregarded and it took for ever to resolve issues
The intake survey asks what your "smile goals" are. I said I wanted to move my molars outward because they were crossing my tongue, and I didn't care what the front teeth looked like (they're almost straight already). After waiting about one month after sending in my silicone impressions, they have finally come up with the digitized simulation of my plan and sent out the aligners. The simulation shows zero change to my molars and minimal change to the front teeth. I requested a Zoom consultation with my SmileSet orthodontist. They missed my appointment time but I ended up speaking with someone else 15 minutes later and they told me that SmileSet usually only treats the front teeth because they don't typically work on molars. They told me they would speak to the orthodontist and get back to me in a few days but they told me to not get my hopes up because the answer is usually no for molars. So, that was a whole waste of time. I wish they would have just looked at my intake form and saw that I only wanted molar modification, and then they could've told me to go get regular braces instead. I'm going to try to get a refund.

Your work is not comprehensive
Your work is not comprehensive. It requires follow ups, which is time-consuming. No insurance coverage at work cause you don't have a doctor even look at your mouth to consult which is another issue overall once you get your treatment, it works OK until at the end you find out you have to do touchups which could take forever to get done?
