We had a great and easy experience booking with Savvy! Website was easy to use and once we picked our place the communication with the host was quick. The host did a great job with emails and telling us all that was needed. Loved communicating directly with the host.

The process to get reimbursement for…

The process to get reimbursement for gift cards is cumbersome, confusing, and time-consuming. After one month of back and forth correspondence, resends of information, resent emails, I finally received reimbursement. It shouldn’t be that difficult. Less “Savvy” technical people would probably give up.

Because on Savvy, you pay the host directly to avoid service fees, we can only offer them as cash back instead of at the point of sale, which also makes things more cumbersome.

Little confidence in this service

I received a gift certificate from my kids for Christmas. There was a bonus gift certificate that came with it. I've been trying to find a way to use it, but it is not easy. First of all, the property must agree to accept the gift certificate, otherwise I have to put the money out and then get reimbursed by Savvy once I have completed my stay. It's nearly impossible to locate a property that accepts gift cards. It would be helpful if there were a sort function that shows only properties that accept gift certificates. Secondly, only one gift certificate is permitted per stay, which means the total amount that I received as a gift can not all be used in one stay. I don't have a lot of confidence in this service and wish my kids had not wasted their money on it. :(

Savvy works a bit differently from traditional booking platforms. We’re a book-direct marketplace, which means guests book directly with professional hosts. This setup is what allows us to save travelers 15–20% on service fees compared to other platforms. However, it also means that hosts must opt in to accept gift cards, which can sometimes make the redemption process more complex than we'd like.

We do want to make it easier to find properties that accept gift cards directly. That’s why we’ve added a filter to our site that lets you view only listings that accept Savvy gift cards directly. You can find more information, including instructions and tips for redeeming your card, at:

Regarding the one gift card per stay policy, this is in place to help prevent misuse, such as purchasing a card after selecting a property simply to stack discounts. My issue is that Savvy requires hosts…

My issue is that Savvy requires hosts be with one of their software partners. These software programs are very expensive, so not good for small businesses which is what Savvy seems to be promoting with their no fees. Unfortunately, this is too costly for us - at around $800 per month.
