I am a Salipen user. Persevere!

I am a Salipen user.
I find that it needs persistence.
I have been using it since early 2024, so 8 months.
I use it - and continue to do so - for the maximum recommended time: 5 minutes each time, five times a day.
It took a long time to reach a perceptible effect.
Back in July, so after 5 months, I did 2 DNA tests.
The Ancestry test required the filling of 2 vials.
I just managed to do so, but in each case it took about an hour to reach thr required quantity.
I used the device in between filling the vials.
The MyHeritage test required the use of two cheek swabs, for 1 or 2 minutes per swab.
I decided to go for the longer period.
I was thrilled to discover that I actually *drooled* when using the swabs.
Another anecdote: After months of use, I was walking along, on a reasonably hot day, and suddenly felt the difference. I didn't feel the need to constantly swig water. It was a very sudden feeling: gosh, I don't have a dry mouth any more!
My conclusion is: persevere.
Don't expect miracles, but the device does provide relief.

Totally satisfied with Salipen!

Well, first of all allow me to say that since the first time I used Salipen, my saliva came back in about 30 seconds. Then, I started using Salipen three times a day, for 5 minutes, and it has lasted, at least, from five to six hours, meaning that my dry mouth symptom has been getting better and better with this miraculous device that has been invented by Dr. Andy.

Does not work

Does not work. Battery seems to have failed and it's impossible to even open the battery compartment to change that out. Totally useless.

I wish I could say it has worked better

I'm having a very hard time with my Salipen. I've talked twice with Dr. Wolff as well as with my dentist and my rheumatologist about ways to make the device less painful. Nothing has really helped very much. The electrodes are too sharp; even using some of Dr. Wolff's adjustments (coating them with toothpaste, for example) did not make it manageable.

I think it is an interesting invention

I think it is an interesting invention. Unfortunately I cannot use it because I have erosive oral lichen planus and my doctor does not recommend my using the Salipen. I wish you could invent another device that does not have to be "stuck" into my gums.

Still waiting for long term relief

I have been using Salipen 5 times a day for 5 minutes per session since March 2019. It stimulates salivary flow when used, but the effect does not last long. Over time I have seen a slight improvement in mouth dryness. Overnight, I still must sleep under a sheet to create a micro-environment with enough moisture that I don't wake up from a dry throat. I am hopeful that ongoing use may rejuvenate salivary flow.

no help

The Salipen did not help me although I used for about 8 months. It didn't help in the short run or in the long run. I tried many ways of holding it . My mouth is small and the arms of the instrument are too wide so I tried tying them closer together but that was not successful.

I recommend salipen device!

Now, I am using the salipen the way consistency every single day, for 5 times a day, 5 minutes each time. I have learned a lot about dry mouth at site saliwell.com and with the user guide manual. I would like to order a second device. It’s been four months since I have started using salipen and has improved my quality of life. So salipen is the best thing that could happen! I’m so grateful for Dr. Andy and Mr. Beiski.

Not great

I found the metal parts that you apply to your gums to be very painful and irritating. I used it multiple times a day as instructed. The gum pain never subsided. It did increase saliva output, but ONLY while using the device, so it certainly doesn't solve my dry mouth problem.

As long as I use the unit 3 to 4 times…

As long as I use the unit 3 to 4 times a day I have much less dryness, but night time is a problem as I wake up mid night with very dry mouth and throat, even though I used Salipen right before bed. But all in all much better during waking hours
