Quite messy but they might be ok...
I will update in July after I actually get the car. If it works very well I will add a star, but I won't probably go over 4 stars.
I have just finished the process of booking my car and I must say it was a struggle ! A bit because of my bank but also a bit because of rentingcarz.
To summarize, they seem ok, but their website is a bit messy, we don't have a proper profile once logged in, the web pages loading often gets stuck, and the payment process is messy.
I think it should be correctly booked but I am not even sure yet and I am waiting for a verification by the staff. UPDATE: I received the confirmation email about 7 hours after doing the payment correctly.
I had to try many times to pay because my card wouldn't get accepted, going through support chat several times to see what was going on. UPDATE: As suspected this was a problem from my bank and not rentingcarz. But even after paying with a different card that worked, it did take quite a bit of time and a couple of errors.
The support staff in the chat seems to be willing to help but they are not really sharp and clean in their doing... Their answers are often slow and generic, they sometimes change the language of the conversation, I suspect them of using a translator to speak in French, then speaking in English a bit, then in Spanish, all those changes for no reason (but luckily I am French and I speak both French and English). They also tend to end the chat conversation without prior notice.
After being refused with my first card, I asked for my reservation to be put on hold until I can pay, the link given for that didn't work at first, they repaired it, then I got a server error when I attempted to make the payment with a different card. They tried to repair that and they kept me waiting on the chat for about 30 minutes, then the payment seemed to have been made but the confirmation page was kept in the "loading" pop-up state, and it never ended, so I contacted the staff to make sure the payment was made. In the meantime I received an email for the confirmation of the payment but it had an error message in the title of the payment, which was the error message I sent them when I first failed at paying with my first card. Hence me asking them if there wasn't a problem. They kept me waiting in chat for a hour this time, and told me the verification was taking time and they would reach me later by "message" (I guess it's an email). UPDATE: I did receive a confirmation email about 6-7 hours later.
So currently I am supposed to have paid but I am still not 100% sure my reservation is correctly made.
Under my profile on the website it says "Soon account" and the reservation tab is empty...
UPDATE: I received the reservation confirmation email. But my profile on the site is still empty.
Also for some weird reason, my rental is from Paris airport to Paris airport, when I changed the day of giving the car back to 2 days earlier, the price was more expensive... So I decided to keep the car until the end of my trip in France even though I will probably not use the car in Paris during the last couple of days...
