Carla cash is not what it seems

They had good rates, but I had to cancel and rebook due to Fox not allowing a time change after the original rental contract was booked. I took the Carla cash refund option since I was going to re-rent a car. Carla cash can be used right away instead of waiting 7 days for a card refund. I then discovered that I could not use all my Carla cash unless I bought all the offered options that you can purchase when renting any car. My problem was that my first rental used all the options, so my prepayment was several hundred dollars, which I credited back to Carla cash. When I tried to rent my next car with bare-bones purchased options, I could only use $20 worth of Carla cash. Seeing this would be forever to use up when renting, I made several calls and then wrote a nice letter explaining my problem and asking for a refund to my card account. I was emailed back that this was not the normal procedure, but that they would review my circumstances. I received a nice refund email and was credited the money within a week. While not happy with the number of calls I needed to make, nor the confusing Carla cash refund learning curve, overall, I would need to give them a favorable rating. I had no problems with customer service, but then I was not combative in tone. I believe that if they explained the whole refund procedure better on their refund page, it would have prevented my whole problem.

Scam

Scam! Scam! Scam!
I have been hung up on and blocked from contacting the so-called customer service number after 4 weeks of back and forth trying to get a refund for $600+ for a rental I was never able to pick up prior to booking they told me major debit or credit card were accepted... This was a lie! Terrible customer service in fact supposedly speaking to a supervisor I was hung up on them blocked then trying to call from another number the line does nothing????? Please save your time and money and DO NOT USE CARLA!!!!

Carla Car rental is a absolute scam…

Carla Car rental is a absolute scam company. €320 is what I lost. Unbelievable. the only thing I can and will do is call them dailly to make them refund me. Diana who works there is a absolute liar.

If you refund me, I will change this one into a 4 star review.

Car unavailable

The car they were offering was finally unavailable. The solution? They offered another car in a more expensive company (this happened almost the day before of my trip)
I strongly do not recommend this company, I had to cancel my trip because of this

Possible scam

Waiting refund for membership

Hi my name is Fabrizio Zampieri I booked a car with this company. After making a reservation, I found charged on my card, in addition to the expected rental fee, an unexpected subscription fee of 149 euros. I contacted them for a refund, and despite sending numerous emails, I continue to wait without any result regarding the refund to my credit card..

If i could give less than one star i would.

Went to Italy (Turin) and rented a car through Carla (their app). All went well with the rental process. Picked a car and chose to insure it through Carla.

I then got to the airport and tried to pick up the car. The cashier (Noleggiare) said everything was fine, they just needed some information because i booked through a broker (Carla).

In Carlas webpage it is stated (in their FAQ), that you either need a credit card or debit card. So didn’t think i would have a problem with having VISA debit card with me.

The cashier asked to see my contract from Carla where it said on the third page, that a credit card and my drivers license are required.

It seems like a scam, when they write that either a credit card or debit card is sufficient on their webpage.

I was standing in the airport not alle to get the car, unless i paid for the full insurance at the rental office (approx. 600€ more) than i already paid with Carla. So or was possible for me to rent the same car without a credit card, i just had to spend 600€ more… and get a redundant insurance because i already paid for insurance.

I then proceeded to mail for a possible refund, but the refused because it was “clearly” stated in the contract, that a credit card was needed…

Keep away from this scam company and rent the car directly from the rental company… i had to pay twice…

They are based in Turkey and take no responsibility.

Do yourself a favor and steer away from this scam.

Fraude

Upon getting the car, I was charged with 50% more than the amount shown at the moment of booking. Even with the proof at hand, it was not possible to change the mistake.

Carla Rental Left Me Stranded Overnight — A Warning from a Senior Traveler

I'm 67 years old and had just flown all the way from Hilo, Hawaii. After a long, exhausting flight, I arrived late at night expecting a confirmed rental car from Carla. But there was no car, and the rental counter had no idea who I was. I was shocked.

I tried everything—no help from Carla, no alternatives, and no way to reach a real person. I ended up stuck overnight at the airport car rental center, cold, tired, and completely alone. It was one of the worst travel experiences of my life.

I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. I later found out that many people have had the same problem with Carla. Please—do not trust this company. They take your money, leave you stranded, and disappear when you need help.

If you’re a fellow senior, traveler, or anyone who values peace of mind: book directly with a reputable agency. Carla is not worth the risk.

I reserved a car through this app from…

I reserved a car through this app from thifty. When we arrived, they said they would not have a car for 4 hours. We were number 26 on the list and it was 10:00 pm. Thifty closed at 11. I called and did not get anyone on the phone. We rented from another company. I have been trying to get my refund for days. finally, they said they couldn't offer a refund but credit. the credit was lower than the original rental. i will never reserve from here again. this was not my fault, they did not honor their contract commitment. I currently work for a law firm and will file against this company.

I am extremely disappointed with your…

I am extremely disappointed with your recent response regarding the cancellation of my booking (Confirmation Number: CN863661944436). As I have already mentioned in previous communications, the reservation was cancelled within less than 30 minutes of being made. According to consumer protection laws and fair trading practices, such a cancellation clearly entitles me to a refund, regardless of the standard cancellation policy.

I have already filed an official complaint with the Consumer Ombudsman, and if the matter is not resolved promptly, I will proceed with legal action for fraudulent and unethical business practices. Your refusal to refund a payment for a service that was never rendered, and under such circumstances, is completely unacceptable.

This is my final attempt to resolve the matter amicably. I urge you to reconsider your position and issue a full refund of €238.60 immediately. Otherwise, I will escalate this case without further notice.

THEY STOLE OUR MONEY!

THEY STOLE OUR MONEY!
We ordered a vehicle through them with THRIFTY to pick up at 23:00 hours. I phoned ahead and was assured they stayed open late and that the rental was right in the terminal. Well the location was a 10 minute wait and then shuttled out to a rental location. Because of this, we arrived right at 11pm.
The Thrifty desk was closed and the lights were off. There was no one packing up or any sign that anyone had been there or waiting, no note for us, nothing!
I tried calling and emailing with no response. Three other desks were open. Two of them had no cars available and the third had one SUV for $330 a day.
It took us two hours into the night trying to get the Uber or Lyft apps to work in the USA. First thing in the morning I let them know what happened and they assured me my funds would be returned, upon review. They then responded that after a thorough review our funds would not be returned!

Skip the line option of Carla

n 2nd May 2025 i needed to rent a car urgently, found Carla rent car and have seen in app that they have available cars and there was option Skip the Line
(Only €19 Get your car in minutes, no matter the long lines, and start enjoying your journey right away) and add it and pay a total of 161.96 Eur. I booked it at 10.00 A.M, passing 22 minutes still i see in app that car has not been confirmed and i am late for trip. So i decided to cancel and to go for a meeting with a taxi which cost me much more. Although 2 weeks passed still they did not accept their fault, refused to refund

Worse car rental company ever

This has to be the worse car rental company I’ve ever used. While visiting Florida, I decided to rent a car, last minute. I came by there company as I was doing searches for rentals in the area. Making the reservation was simple, once I downloaded the app. The reservation had been made and paid for on the App. On the day I was supposed to pick up my rental, I took an Uber to the address given. Unfortunately, that’s when it all fell apart. I could not locate the office and when I questioned the workers in the parking lot, no one had even heard of the company. As it turns out, they’re a 3rd party company that rents out cars from another company. I’m still not sure how that works and, it seemed no one else working at that location knew either because no one could even point me in the right direction. I attempted to call the company, using the “contact us” tab on their App, but was immediately placed on hold three times and got nothing more than music for 10 minutes before being disconnected. After wondering through the designated location for over an hour we counted our losses and gave up. I also made attempts to cancel the reservation and requested a refund. The response was delayed, at best and basically stated that they would not be refunding my money. Needless to say, I will never use this car rental company nor will I recommend that anyone else does. Their business is shady, at best.

Scammed by Carla rental

I rented a car here, and upon arrival at the company, it turned out that the agreed credit card deposit was €1600 — even though it had been clearly confirmed by email beforehand that it would never exceed €500.
I had to rent a different car elsewhere.
The €139 I had already paid to Carla Rental was never refunded.
I have sent multiple emails without any response.

There’s only one word for this: scam.
Never do business with this company!
They are intermediaries, and they rip you off.
