Avoid Avoid Avoid

Avoid, Avoid, Avoid.
Public Storage will entice you with a really good rate in the beginning. They will be extra helpful and attentive but don't buy it! I rented a unit and there are 2 prices: an online price and a "walk in" price. The online price is about 50% less than the "walk in" price. You have to rent the unit basically sight unseen. You also will be pressured to use their Orange Door insurance. Everything seems good in the beginning until a few months later WHEN YOUR RATE INCREASES on BOTH THE STORAGE UNIT AND THE INSURANCE. It's a crappy thing to do and who has time to move again in 3 months and hire movers? NO ONE. This is a crappy company - do your research and go with a "mom and pop" storage place who will actually work with you and actually care that you gave them your business. AVOID THIS COMPANY.

The worst place

The worst place. No care, no customer service. In one months time, my rental increase was over $60.00. What a bunch of thieves. Do not rent from this place. I’m moving out as soon as I can.

We stored our belongings at the Public…

We stored our belongings at the Public Storage on 23 Mile and Hayes in Shelby Township for over five years. When we first signed the lease, we were told rent increases would be minimal—maybe $10–$20 per year. We started at $167/month, but within just six months, they raised it to $437/month, and the following year it jumped again to $533/month. That’s over triple the original price with no improvement in service or facility conditions.

Even worse, when we recently emptied the unit, we discovered all of our furniture was completely destroyed by mold. Mold was growing up the walls and had embedded into our wood pieces beyond repair. The climate-controlled unit we were promised was anything but—every time we visited, it was hot and extremely humid. It’s clear there was zero effort to maintain proper temperature or humidity levels, despite that being part of what we were paying for.

We trusted Public Storage to protect our possessions and they failed us. Now we’re left with thousands of dollars in damage and no accountability from the company. Avoid this location at all costs

Unethical Practices and Theft at Public…

Unethical Practices and Theft at Public Storage
I rented unit #316 in Indian Trail, NC. My unit was broken into on June 26, 2025, and valuable items were stolen. The auction was canceled shortly before its scheduled end, and I was not informed. The manager told me I could only claim compensation if I paid my debt and signed a waiver releasing the company from liability. I believe this is unethical, and possibly an inside job. I do not recommend storing valuables here.

I agree 100% with all of the negative reviews here. Too many price increases, my current rate is 4x more than it was when I rented the unit. Absolutely ZERO customer service. Good luck ever speaking to a live person. There isn't even an option to speak with a live person when you call "customer service".
"CUSTOMER SERVICE" is non-existent at this company.
Don't waste your time with "live chat" either, that will get you absolutely nowhere.
Find a different storage facility, there are better, more reputable ones out there.

Absolutely horrible! Zero customer service. They do not see you, hear you, nor care about you. Less than 2 years there my fee has increased 4 times. Bye! I'll be moving my stuff somewhere that does reputable business.

To Whom It May Concern,

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction and utter contempt for Public Storage Chickasha. My experience with this company has been nothing short of a daylight robbery, and I feel compelled to warn others to steer clear of these crooks.

I initially rented a storage unit from Public Storage in 2019 at a reasonable rate of $175 per month. Over the years, I accepted incremental increases, but nothing prepared me for their latest stunt. In the span of just 12 months, they've jacked up my monthly rate by an obscene 60%, from a horrible $380 price to an outrageous $608! This kind of price gouging is not only unethical but also preys on loyal customers who trust them with their belongings.

I urge anyone considering Public Storage to look elsewhere. There are plenty of other storage facilities that offer fair pricing and treat their customers with respect. Do not fall victim to Public Storage's predatory practices. Save yourself the headache and the financial burden—choose any other storage provider. You'll thank me later.

Stolen property from public storage

I had rented a storage unit from public storage on 1960 & kuykendahl north Houston Texas for a little past a year also paying insurance. After I moved my 3bed room home out of the storage unit me and my wife discovered missing items mostly her clothes and name brand purses and some garden equipment maybe more just haven’t realized it yet since we haven’t seen our items in a while now. After realizing thing was missing we came to a conclusion that these items was taken from the lady’s that work up front they would cut the locks off if we was late and then throw them in the unit we would pay put a new lock on it this happened only two times the whole year I didn’t think anything about it until I seen the locker unit next to me would never get there lock cut but they would add their own new lock so my first question is why cut mine and open it to throw the old lock in my unit and once I remember paying, and she made a remark about my things in my locker unit so after questioning myself I decided to have a conversation with someone about my issues to only be run around not getting any answers or having anyone to look over the cameras they also have a moto say your stuff is safe with us I just don’t understand why I can’t get in touch with anyone who can go over the camera and find the person who took my things so to conclude this, I would say never to rent here from the public storage. They’re not guaranteed the insurance I paid did not help. They hire these to steal your things to go in your locker. You cannot trust them. They cannot be trusted and if you do, hopefully you can get in touch with somebody because we couldn’t

Too Many Rent Increases

This company will give you a great rate going in and will go up on your rent every couple months without telling you up front . When you call to question the increase in the bill they will tell you that it’s in the lease.
Life storage does not go up on the rent
The facility is clean but I don’t like the increase in prices and additional fees

DO NOT RENT FROM PUBLIC STORAGE Unless…

DO NOT RENT FROM PUBLIC STORAGE Unless you’re OK to pay 60-70% more after your first three months!!!

Their call center quotes you a price and tells you that these prices will remain until you leave the space when in fact they raise your rates systematically after the first three months, no matter what!!!

I am contacting an attorney to bring a class action lawsuit against these idiots for misleading advertising among other causes of action

Avoid Public Storage like the plague

Avoid Public Storage if you can. My experience has been nothing but frustrating.

When I first signed up and paid for a unit, no one was even present at the office during business hours to onboard me. The keypads at the facility are frequently broken, Bluetooth access rarely works, and the front gate has been disabled for weeks—everyone is forced to use the exit gate for both entering and leaving.

I also received a rude phone call from an employee accusing me of staying past access hours, even though their logging system was clearly malfunctioning. I’ve tried calling the office several times during posted business hours—no answer. I’ve left voicemails with my number, but nobody ever calls back.

On top of that, the pricing is deceptive. My unit was advertised at $49, but after all the hidden fees, I ended up paying over $80. Then, without warning, my rate was raised again to $97.82 just a few months later.

I’ll be filing formal complaints and reaching out to corporate and the BBB. I sincerely hope Public Storage addresses these issues, but based on what I’ve seen, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

BEWARE!!

BEWARE!!! I originally left a glowing review as the agent was so helpful and everything was clean and secure. Boy was I wrong. I am in end stage heart failure and every dime goes towards medications and medical bills. I rented a unit for around $147/month. I saw in the contract there is a clause saying that they reserve the right to make occasional slight rental increases. That seemed fair as we all know prices go up everyday Well only six month after struggling to find help to move the last of my possessions into the unit since I had to move in with my sister because I am dying, they raise my rent by 34% to almost $200.
That has to be illegal. I will be contacting the BBB and Consumer Affairs and anyone else who will listen. There are storage places popping up everywhere. They are surely not the only game in town. BEWARE .

Rent Elsewhere predatory business practices

I was told when renting my units (I have 5) that Public Storage doesn't raise rates for 6 months and then there is normally a 3 months buffer of increased rates, upon request, issued directly from the on site agents. I just received an update that my monthly storage rent is going up more than 40% in month 4. While Andrea and Shay are amazing, they have no control over price increases and can no longer offer than 3 month buffer. And while their customer service is top notch, Public Storage has tied their hands and their owner hands so I have no choice but to provide a review for this particular facility as I have been negatively affected by this price increase. I knew I needed these storage units for more than a year and asked if I could pre purchase a year in advance initially to hold my price. I was also told I could not do this. This industry is beyond pitiful and specifically Public Storage. I would highly suggest sticking with Mom and Pop facilities or those who are willing to work with good customers. If I had the choice of choosing another company, I absolutely would and now I'm on the journey to do just that. The business philosophy that Public Storage represents TAKES ADVANTAGE of people. It's one of the worst business models I've seen in a long time. Quite disappointing. I highly suggest choosing any other company you can. This is the perfect example of when someone/an entity has power and they choose to use that power for evil. Steer clear if you can. If you can't, make sure to leave an honest review. The more people who leave negative reviews, the more Public Storage and those who utilize this same predatory business model will consider changing for the better. There's absolutely a way to make good money and not take advantage. The way Public Storage does business is not that way. It's like surge pricing. And I urge all those reading this to immediately boycott any business that utilizes surge pricing. Oh yeah, and if you have to use Public Storage, whatever you do, don't rent a 10x20. Just rent 2+ smaller units that equal a 10x20. This is how they take advantage of people. Your price WILL go up sooner if you choose the larger unit and for a crazy new price. It will also be easier to move units when they raise your rate. It's really quite a despicable business model.

If I could give 0 stars I would

If I could give 0 stars I would. The customer service (is non-existant. I called and put a unit on hold over the 800 number. The rep (Jeff in AZ) said the unit and price were locked in for 7 days and the specific location (Southborough, MA) would call me within 30min to finalize my reservation. They never called.
I called that location 2 days later (within the 7 days) and that rep (Diego) had no info on my unit at all and said the price was $40 more than I was told by Jeff. I called the 800 number again to get it sorted out. They did find my reservation, but they misspelled by name and couldn't find it earlier (646192709). After speaking with 3 different rude reps who wouldn't listen and continued to talk over me, I finally get the rep to put in the reservation and he was going to charge me $15 more per month that originally quoted. I was so aggravated I just said fine. He sends me 4 different text links and an email asking me to check the boxes to agree to the rental agreement. I did all 4 times within a min of receipt. After getting through that, he tells me, "Sorry, the unit is no longer available because I took too long". I requested a supervisor numerous times and he refused to transfer me. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY! They will change the pricing on you repeatedly, get you to sign off on an agreement multiple times, and yet you still don't get a rental. I have wasted so much time talking to the most unqualified customer service representatives. They will take your information and I can't trust what they will do with it. SCAM and a SHAM of a business.

I’ve been renting a 6 x 10 storage…

I’ve been renting a 6 x 10 storage space for over 8 YEARS from Public Storage on Bloom Lane in Richmond, Va and I can tell you that this is a company that doesn’t care whether you get to eat or not, their rates will consistently go up and maybe out of the 8 YEARS, you might get 1 or 2 managers that will work with you to give a decrease in rent and that’s it. Only One that was named Harriet that was there in 2016 or 17 gave a decent decrease in rent by at least 60.00 dollars and she was gone within a year after that. I need you to understands that I’ve lost EVERYTHING that matters but GOD, especially to my daughter whom I rented this space for. So far she’s had kept up until last year then after asking over and over for decreases being that she hardly filled the space, she couldn’t afford it anymore and she had to let some medications go that weren’t covered and after explaining this to Public Storage, WE prayed that they could give her a FREE month after paying so much over the years (this was RENT but no way they wouldn’t budge) so she’s been trying and failing to keep up so now THEY AUCTIONED HER UNIT A071 OFF, and while she’s in the hospital at that. This is gonna KILL HER. I just want people to know that IF you’re looking for COMPASSION and some COMMON SENSE besides just “give me MONEY” consecutively from customers who’ve PAID DILIGENTLY FOR OVER 8 YEARS, then DON’T GO THERE AT ALL. STILL OWE almost 600.00 NOW. A MESS! GOD be with ME but these RICH people are GREEDY and DON’T CARE about those “struggling” to even buy medication. 190.00/monthly for a 6x10 space??? JUST HEARTLESS. And GOUGING to say the least.
