Protect My Car (PMC) Scammed my father of $12,500

Ok. This started three years ago. After I signed up for the service, the person who took my information either used it or sold it to a scammer who scammed my father out of $12,500. I kept the service because my car is old and I did not attribute this act to the company. Two years later, last August, I got my brakes repaired. When I tried to contact the company before the repairs they did not respond claiming they could not because there was a hurricane in Florida. (Phones?) So that was useless. I cancelled the policy last September using the method outlined on their website of simply disconnecting the payment method. Simple, no money, no policy. This August I noticed they were still charging me on a different card. I don't know how they got it, but I did not authorize it. I immediately called and talked to a customer service person. (different than the billing dept.) They cancelled the policy. I cancelled the credit card. I just checked my statement. Again, I don't know how, they got my card number, which I did not authorize, after I cancelled my policy, and charged me again. I am going to contact the billing department now and see what happens, but this is very suspect, predatory behavior. Anybody know a good consumer protection lawer?

Very disrespectful.

This company has is a TERRIBLE Claims department. Which is the most important department since that’s who you need to deal with to get your car repaired. My car’s dealership spent hours on hold waiting to speak to someone. They couldn’t reach anyone to file the claim, so I had to call them directly and spend hours trying to reach them. After the dealership was finally able to get in touch with PMC, they were told they need to send an inspector. The whole process will take about a week and a half if we are lucky to get our car back by then. The rental allowance is only $30 per day, which is not enough for even a compact car. We are a family of 5 with little ones, so we are full of car seats. Which means we need a bigger car, but of course with that allowance we wouldn’t be able to get it. With that allowance we would not have enough for even a bicycle… nowadays it’s ridiculous they pay so cheap towards rentals when we know with inflation rentals start at $85 for the smaller car. At least in our area.
After calling the claims department and wanting to know all the details, I couldn’t understand why they would take so long to send an inspector and to approve the claim, he started laughing at me and telling me “you are so funny, you should become a comedian” you could imagine how upset I was, cause my situation obviously has nothing to laugh about…. After laughing and laughing and calling me “funny person” he just hang up on me. I called back the “customer service” department and asked to speak to someone to make a complaint, they transferred me to the same guy…. It was very frustrating, I didn’t want to talk to that guy again, cause I don’t want him to retaliate against me and deny my claim…. This is a very disrespectful and worthless company that I have been making payments every month for over 3 years. Now that I’m finally trying to use them, they are literally laughing at me…. Just HORRIBLE. Save yourself a headache and get someone else. This company has a C in BBB for terrible customer service. I guess I should have checked those reviews before falling for it…
After my car gets fixed I will be dropping them.

Protect your money don't use this company

After buying a car from browns car company in maldon essex and paying for the protect my car warranty ( an extra £450 ) for the year , I then had a problem so the car went in for the repair at a place of my choice , the car was fixed promptly but I had to front the money! Now 2 months down the line I'm unable to make contact via the contact number and I've had no reply from my last email, spoke to browns car company about the problem who sounded uninterested and couldn't wait to hang up. Do not use either compamy. customer service is non existent! I will be paying a visit

Protect my Car Sucks

I've been needing my car repaired since the first of this month. I wouldn't recommend them. They've been dodging us, putting us on hold for hours on the phone, and won't call the shop to ok the repairs trying to make us pay the bill so they won't have to. And we've never missed a payment in 3 years. Terrible customer service

THEY ARE GOING OUT OF BUIZ!

THEY ARE GOING OUT OF BUIZ!! They are attempting to refrain from repairing any vehicles while also pushing loyal customers away (a tactic used to not repair). Please everyone report to the BBB. Do not just write a review on BBB website, but instead File A Claim on the BBB website and submit it! They are trying to balance books and not have more money going out than they have coming in. All while using very disrespectful employees to upset customers and push them to the point of canceling their policies. Please everyone we have to stand up to this company and not let them get away with this.

This place screws you, take your money with out telling you that you are no longer covered!

This place screws you! I went to get my car looked at and when I filed a claim they said my car is over miles. I mentioned they have been charging me for over a year now that I have been over miles as I saw that my contract expires November 2024. They said they have no way of knowing when we go over miles. I told them they did as I always for my 3 free oil changes. During those oil changes they get my miles. I had 3 done this year. They told me the last one they have on record is December 2022 and I was at 118K but they still did the oil change. I told the rep that is when they should of told me that I am no longer covered if I was $4000 miles over. They didn’t they just kept collecting my $68. Now when I need something done to my car they say I am not covered and have not been covered since December since that is when my miles were supposedly over with. So now I am out a bit over $800. When I tried to tell the rep all the things I have on record he kept talking over me and saying he needs to explain. I told him he already did and I kept trying to tell him the records I have showing they knew where my miles where at that oil change and still didn’t cancel. He kept talking over me and would not let me say anything. This was the second guy. The first women I talked to she said she had to talk to a manager and then she will call me back. She never called me back. That is when I called again and got the second guy. I had to hang up after 20 minutes of him arguing with me. I called back and got a third guy and he said it was my fault I got charge for a year even though my mileage expires. He said I should of told them. I said they did my brakes and knew it was over. They said they didn’t because during that time in December of 2022 they had something wrong with the machines and couldn’t get it until after. I said they still received the mileage but still charged me. I told them I will contact the Attorney General, my bank and others to get my $800 plus that they charged me if they are not going to cover the work I need. They customer Service Rep said it will just cost me more money for me if I sue them. Seriously! The beginning when I first started with them they seemed great until you need work and they just keep charging you until you decide to tell them your over miles. Do not do business with them!!!! They should have tried to figure a way to solve this. Instead they put blame on me!

When you call for customer service know…

When you call for customer service know one answers the phone. I called several times and I was on hold for more than 10 minutes with no response. I was told that I needed to call before getting an oil change.
