Olio is mostly great
Olio is mostly great. The idea of making food available to avoid waste is commendable. However the ads situation spoils the app. Sometimes it won’t let you move on from the page that wants you to pay for adverts. …and if you don’t agree to paying towards the adverts it won’t let you access the food on offer. Sort of negates the free food concept. Other times it will make you sit through a lengthy advert and when you get back to the point of requesting a food item, it’s gone. 🤷🏻♀️

Disappointment.I've been working with this company for a few months now. I pack the food, describe the allergens, and ask for it to be picked up. I have confirmation that a volunteer will pick it up and... no one picks it up. They're wasting my time and food. I'm had enough. No more

The way the app is designed is fine…
The way the app is designed is fine it’s great, but someone spoke to me so condescending when I collected and listed my first collection.
What’s more the expectations for some free food that’s out of date is ridiculous, having to take photos of everything one by one the expiry date and the allergens even though it’s evident the food is out of date. Time consuming for most people hence why very few people bother

A great way to reduce waste
I have recently been using the app as a way to give my unwanted items new homes. For that it has been great, a very simple process to list them and a far better hit rate than other platforms that I have tried. I have so far experienced no time wasters at all, a huge benefit.
I originally signed up hoping to score the odd left over loaf or bag of rolls but sadly the local food waste is all collected just a bit too far away to make that practical. I still feel that the food waste prevention aspect of the app is its biggest strength though.

A great app which is easy to use
A great app which is easy to use.
I was able to get my items added in moments, and within seconds they were listed and online.
I thoroughly recommend this app if you have items you don’t need anymore.

The Olio experience
I've had a really good experience with Olio and the food offerings have helped me recover through this difficult time I've had post domestic abuse and resultant mental illness.
In return I've managed to offload surplus items of furniture ready for a fresh start somewhere new hopefully soon.
