CD opening process is excessively long.
I tried to open a CD. After three days, they still had not reviewed my application and approved it, and when I called, they said they still have a lot of applications ahead of mine. I understand high volumes, but in 2025 it shouldn't take days to open a CD. I'm sure the bank is fine and the CSR I spoke with was reasonably friendly, but I'm not interested in a digital bank that can't quickly get through a CD application.

Above and Beyond Customer Service
I'm a new customer who had some questions about their CD policies so I decided to give them a call. I was on hold for only a few minutes before a human being picked up. Mark Squires answered all my questions quickly and with pinpoint accuracy. He even went the extra mile by explaining what my options would be when the CD term ends (9 months into the future). Mark did all this with a delightful attitude and was a pleasure to speak to. I left the call feeling reassured about my new account. I give Newtek Bank's customer service 5 stars and would definitely recommend it to others.

Excellent customer service
I needed to wire some money from Newtek Bank to another bank to pay for a bill that was due in a day. Because of various reasons I wasn’t properly set up to wire the funds immediately. Fortunately Agent Katie Houston with her patience and skills was able to shepherd me through the process to get the funds wired to my bank in time.

Christopher Bou was very helpful with problems I was having with my CD account. The bank itself however is a waste and I decided not to put my money there. Days and days of going around in circles, I don’t recommend this bank, but. Christopher was great.

I would like to commend Birdi for her help with me and sending a wire which was started yesterday.
On the first call she sent me the necessary form and talked me thru it. Then
later she called and confirmed everything with me and told me it should be sent this am.
She again called me today and I checked and the wire went thru successful.
She went far beyond what was required and especially since I was wiring money out of your bank.

Do NOT waste your time
This bank lured me in by offering high interest rates on deposit accounts and low fees. Once deposited, their banking processes make it very difficult to get money out. E.g. I've been trying for over a week to set up transfers, both business and personal, to my external accounts, but have been unable to do so. Error msg: "You've exceeded your transfer limit." Transfer limit = $25,000. All attempted transfers were for < $20,000. Previously, transfers in and transfers to an external account (they only allow one linked external account) have taken several days to be "processed", during which the funds are not available at all. Additionally, while they offer a broad suite of complementary products and their reps are courteous, every product I explored (business insurance, invoicing, etc) is ridiculously overpriced. Currently, my deposits, which are not insignificant, are literally being held hostage. My suggestion: Don't waste your time or risk disruptions in cash flow by engaging with newtek bank.

Marcia' Luke!!! She was outstading. She responded to my request immediately and sent me details about my request. On Saturday I had additional questions and decided to proceed with a wire transfer after I told her I would not need to wire funds. She resent the Wire instructions and the docusign document over the weekend and let me know she would be available to review the details Monday morning. She confirmed the wire instructions and processed the wire with the NewTek team. She validated my identity and confirmed ALL wire instructions (which I appreciate because I work for a bank and support attention to detail) She also followed up once the wire was completed. Fabulous CS experience. Great job Marcie!

I was notified my cd was maturing in…
I was notified my cd was maturing in plenty of time to make a decision on what to do with the money. I received reminders in a timely fashion. Katie was the rep who sent me messages and kept me informed about the renewal and how long it would take. She also notified when the renewal was completed.
