Stay away from this company for loans

I just check all 3 of my scores. Your associate said all three were below 600. He lied.
There wasn't any miscommunication. The loan officer said he needed permission to run my credit again even though it was still in the normal timeline for the original credit pull. But since that original credit pull expires in a week, he'd pull it again.
No permission was granted and he pulled it again.
He asked for permission, went ahead anyway, no permission given.

When you start the loan process they of course check your credit score. But then when they go to change from pre approved to finalizing the loan, they check it again. Even if it is still withing their timeframe of accepting the last check, they run it again. Yup, they will knock points off of your score deliberately.
They check it again WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION!
Oh, and they don't care that you're a federal employee that has had a scape or two in your past. The scrapes count for everything. Your federal employment counts for nothing. Even if you've passed your clearances and are in good standing in your federal placement, NOTHING. Scrapes are everything.
Stay away from this company for loans!

We'd like to clarify what happened with your credit inquiries. Your loan officer pulled a soft inquiry on 03/07/2025 for your preapproval - this particular type of credit report doesn't affect your credit scores at all. When you located a property, we then pulled a tri-merge credit report on 06/26/2025, which is standard practice for final loan processing. The important point is that only one inquiry from nbkc bank actually impacted your credit score.
We absolutely value our federal employees and appreciate your service. It sounds like there may have been some miscommunication about our process and requirements, and for that we sincerely apologize.

Excellent customer service
When I was reaching out to any lender to refinance my new VA loan, Matt contacted me immediately. After discussing the ins and outs and how I had to wait a period of time, Matt promised that he would call me back several months later. Guess what, he did. Once we started working together on refinancing my loan, it went by so fast. Matt kept in touch with me, texting and sending emails to make sure I was informed of everything that was being done. He even had my refinance day moved up 4 days and had a travel notary sent to my home. If being financed through NBKC is anything like Matt's customer service, everyone needs to be here.
