All fur coat and no knickers!
Bought a Mondaine watch 24/3/25 for my husband’s birthday on 17th April. The parcel arrived promptly and was beautifully wrapped, therefore as it was for a gift, I didn’t undo any of it, thinking the whole “box new” experience would be nicer that way. Unfortunately the contents of the box did not live up to the expectations promised by the presentation - the watch hasn’t kept time since the beginning! When my husband contacted Mondaine, he was told (quite abruptly) to contact their authorised service centre for repair. He then went back to them stating we were dissatisfied with this solution as the watch was brand new. Mondaine came back to us saying that they couldn’t do anything else as it was outside their 14 day refund period. FOURTEEN DAYS for a £200+ watch that promised quality and workmanship but delivered a useless, faulty product. Fourteen days didn’t even leave time between purchase and birthday!! Hugely disappointing customer service for an item that ought to exude quality on all levels.

Title: Mundane Face, Firmware Farce – Swiss Precision Ends at the Casing
The Mondaine Stop Go wall clock turned up with spot behind the glass and customer support that was on a skiing holiday in the Alps. Gave up and accepted Swiss actual standard of quality control and chucked the box away. Decide to highlight to them their support was as good as their quality control and made one attempt and got please send back in original packaging. Yeah, we all know what that actually means.
Now experience in real life found it is accurate only if you measure accuracy by ice ages.
Swiss tech loves to drape itself in the prestige of Mondaine railway clocks—a timeless symbol of order and precision. But when you get past the brushed steel and Helvetica, it’s often a firmware disaster zone.
From vanished devices to unstable updates and dysfunctional companion apps, the user experience feels less like Swiss engineering and more like a dodgy firmware internship. For a country famed for horological excellence, it’s staggering how often their “smart” products forget what they’re supposed to do.
Don’t sell us the myth of the red seconds hand if the backend was coded in haste and never tested.
It simply loses it connection to wifi and then its native accuracy makes a fifty year old two bob mechanical watch look good.
Looking at the reviews not alone and support must be listening to the “Sound of Silence”.
Put bluntly it is not fit for purpose but do not expect a refund or replacement unless you are a box hoarder.

After less than 2 weeks
After less than 2 weeks, the hour hand was misaligned. I was told by customer services to send it for a repair. A repair for a watch that is barely 10 days old? I thought Mondaine watches were purchased for quality and longevity - for exceptional workmanship. Clearly not. Deeply disappointed all round.

If only the customer service was as good as the design.
Whilst I love the design aesthetics of a Mondaine watch I just can’t recommend them at the moment. I own one which has a manufacturing fault whereby the case back pinged into a concave shape upon removal, this renders it impossible to re-apply so therefore the watch is unwearable (a fundamental function you’d argue). Online customer support initially recommended buying a new watch (not helpful) so I contacted them again.
After lots of ignored messages they eventually responded and they basically won’t do anything as it is just outside the warranty period. I’ve wasted my money on the watch as Mondaine will offer no recourse… I have reminded them that a manufacturing fault is on them and not the customer.
So if you’re happy to take a chance that you get a non-faulty one good luck to you. There are other quality watchmakers in this price bracket that would I’m sure offer a much better customer experience and certainly better customer service.
I’m just trying to offer some of my experiences in a transparent way so others can make an informed choice on their next purchase.

Beautiful watch to look at BUT advised by my local watchmaker that the movement is cheap. Not only this but because of the design of the watch I have the glass is very flat and easy to break, I have replaced it four times now at huge expense.
My daughter had a Mondaine watch but gave up on it, every time it went wrong it cost her a fortune.
Awful after service, such a shame and very dissatisfied. Do Mondaine actually care about customer satisfaction I wonder? A lot of jewellers don’t sell these watches and certainly don’t want to repair them because it’s probably more than their reputation is worth.

Bought a ladies wrist watch in June and cannot wear it as the metal strap repeatedly comes undone, no matter how much I try to secure it. I have tried to contact Mondaine and get a reference number to inform me they have received the message and will respond within two working days. Then I never hear back from them and am at a loss as to how I can contact this awful company. There are no contact details on their website so a letter is not possible. This really is unacceptable.

Awful customer service
Awful customer service - having informed Mondaine that the crown had broken off their 50mm clock (after having adjusted it just three times in one year), I was told the warranty does not cover accidental damage. Having assured them that this was not accidental and that the crown was faulty and poorly made, I was told it was not a "common problem" and they would therefore not fix it - having read a few other reviews, this does indeed seem to be a common issue. Having then responded to them, I didn't hear from them again. Very poor quality product given its price.

Ppppst Wana buy a watch......
I bought a watch online for delivery to my home. I paid and waited. After 4 days sensed that things were not right contacted customer services, was told they would look into it. According to DPD it's disappeared in the Bicester area of their company sorting warehouse. Mondaine customer service have been unable or unwilling to give a refund. Contacting credit card company to get satisfaction.

From. The current official Swiss Mondaine website
Cheaply and exceptionally badly made despite its high price. Not up to the high manufacturing standards normally expected from Swiss products and especially from the watch and clock industry. It runs on a single AA battery but the clock has not lasted.
The design, based on the Swiss railways clock seen in every major railway station in the land and many more, is a wonderful souvenir of Switzerland and rail travel there and representative of Swiss precision and punctuality. Although the clock, made of steel, looks good but it is hard to understand why it could not be replicated in higher and lasting quality.

A Garbage Brand
Garbage brand. Do not buy as you will get no service. Their distributors love to claim that they are the sole repair centers and then try to wiggle their way out of providing service as Mondaine do not appear to support them.
My watch is an older model. I needed the seals replaced. Sent to their UK service centre who were vague about the service scope. They kept saying no warranty on the water resistance when I specifically asked for seals to be replaced. I took a chance and sent the watch to them and just before I committed to the service, I asked again if the seals would be replaced. And then they stated that there were no spares.
Why drag me along for this when they could not do the job?
The whole Mondaine operation is shady.
They do not provide any contact. This would be the first redflag.
Use your money elsewhere. This brand should not exist with the poor level of support they provide.

A beautiful watch but only lasted for 2 years before breaking down. My £20 Timex hasn't missed a beat in 10 years.
Really love the look, but these are not quality watches

Watches nice to see but bad to use
Support doesn't exist. They have only one center in the world to repair their watches. They don't answer to questions and procrastinate. Very arrogant in defending their peculiar date system, that oblige you to change the day every month (in other watches, it happens only when month is less than 31 days, five times a year) and because of the poor quality of the inside movement, the repetute stress, breaks the movement very easily.

no more leather straps
Until recently I would have given Mondaine 4 or 5 stars. I have owned a Classic Ladies Mondaine watch for some decades and am very fond of it. The only issue with until now has been the cost of the replacement straps - they have gone up in price over the years. The last time I ordered they were £30.
Now I find that Mondaine have stopped producing the genuine leather replacement straps for this size watch. The only option is to purchase "vegan grape leather" straps for £33. The supplier I've used says they are only guaranteed to last 2 months. I feel very angry about this!

I think this is a scam.
Ordered and paid 3 weeks ago.
I start to think this is a scam and they will never deliver. Sent an email to customer service, got an automail but then nothing.
It would have been a Christmas gift, ordered in November.
The whole experience is a grotesque parody of Swiss precision.
I will contact my bank and ask for refund early next year.

Ordered a watch october 26
Ordered a watch october 26, supposedly to be shipped in november (2023), nothing yet. Send two mails, no reply, at all.
Update: received the watch december 27. It is broken, if you move the watch the minute hand jumps 5, 10, 30 minutes or something like that, in any direction. Have send them yet another mail, got yet another auto-reply. Doubt if they actually have any customer service at all.

My Mondaine Big Date slipped out of my…
My Mondaine Big Date slipped out of my hand and fell onto the tiled floor and stopped working. I decided to replace the Ronda 519 quartz movement after I found that I could by it for as little as £11 (including shipping), and my watchmaker fitted it for me for the equivalent for another £20. So for a total of £31 I fixed my watch which I had bought a few months before when the retail price was £265.
I always thought that this Mondaine watch was a good Swiss product, but all it had inside was a very cheap movement. I certainly won't buy another watch from this rip-off company again.

No point in a watch if you can’t get a strap!
It is now almost two months since I sent information and images, asked for by Mondaine, after I enquired about the availability of a replacement strap. I like my Mondaine watch very much and being unable to source a strap for a functional and much admired watch is rather frustrating. There’s not much point in having a great watch if you can’t get a strap to fit it!
