My story with my superhero dentist at…

My story with my superhero dentist at Midwestern University Dental Institute, with  Nicolas Broadway!
I'm here for students, teachers, and also customers who have been working or have work done at the Midwestern University.
I'm close to 50, and everything I'm saying here is the reality and the simple truth about my experience as a customer at the student's dentist practice at Midwestern University. I've been treat in my life in 3 countries, 2 continents and more than 5 doctors, but in 2024 I got a special situation, the last tooth got a cavity and my dentist said needs root canal" and after start to work and in worst case scenario, if will be necessary, the tooth will be extract. I was frozen in the moment and asked if it was possible to work with the cavity and if it was getting worse to extract the tooth, and stay away from the root canal surgery ($1000+).  My dentist, with 35 years of experience, said he is not willing to touch that tooth and does not try to work on it, because it is very complicated. Ok, got a second opinion from another experienced doctor in dentistry, wich said almost the same and asked for more than the previous approximately $2000 with no guarantee of success! My wife started to search, and after 2 weeks, we got our first appointment at the Midwestern University Dental Institute . I was very skeptical at first and very doubtful if the student would do the procedure without surgery and just to clean and fix the cavity. Guess what, my hero, future doctor in May 2025, Nicolas Broadway from Midwestern University Dental Institute, said we will start with cavity treatment, and in the worst-case scenario, he will take it out with no surgery at all. And " YES", my hero Nicolas Broadway, back in 2024, did it, more than perfectly, without any surgery, he confirmed it was hard work back there, but he likes the challenge, and he did " the first miracle for me"!!! Back in 2024, after this first successful treatment, he proposed to take care of my other problems, and he did it for 6 months. In April  2025, the second miracle in my life was done with the same 2024 student, Nicolas Broadway, who made my front denture one by one, a work which was, as I said, the second miracle in May 2025. I got the NEW front denture, which may be the hardest work in my mouth for the next 20-30 years. Everyone was impressed:  my family, my friends, and also the other doctors were impressed by the perfection, for me it was a miracle, and more than "  I was thinking", LOOKS NATURAL AND BETTER THAN MY ORIGINAL DENTURE. I met the student Nicolas Broadway in 2024, now in 2025, he graduated and is a Dentist. Nicolas Broadway will also he'll start work in Texas, but for me it was the best decision to come here and trust the  Midwestern University Dental Institute with all students and teachers, and doctors in dentistry. I recommend coming here and seeing what they can do for you, if you are dissatisfied with other places, here at the  Midwestern University Dental Institute, everyone today is a student who can be the best dentist tomorrow, and the teachers, the best professional dentists,  are more friendly and treat you like a family. I wish you the best in life, Dr. Nicolas Broadway, and for the Midwestern University Dental Institute, we will see you in the fall of 2025, with the cleaning procedure schedule with Erika.

An appreciation letter: I would like to say that I actually…

I would like to say that I actually look forward to my appointments at mid-western dental university. I have had excellent dental students work on my teeth over the last couple years. Sophia and Mattie in suite J, are amazing. They explain everything to me before a procedure. They work well together as a team, and are both gentle and compassionate. Thank you for all your hard work. Barbara Murray

BEWARE FLYER OF FREE SERVICES

BEWARE FLYER OF FREE SERVICES. (Remember you usually get what you pay for and your teeth won't grow back, you get 32 to last your entire lifetime)

I was at the gym in our subdivision today and I saw a flyers on the billboard for "Midwestern University Dental Clinic" . They are offering seniors/veterans free dental Etc.
BEWARE!!!! DO NOT GO UNLESS YOU ARE DESPERATE AND HAVE NO OTHER OPTION.
I went last year to check it out and while I was in the waiting room a man had a follow up appointment and was complaining because they had CUT HIS TONGUE!!!
These are students needing to PRACTICE, they couldn't even figure out how to do my blood pressure. They kept screwing up the X-rays and took double or more X-rays a dental office takes. I decided to only get a dental cleaning and the student injured my mouth and gums twice.
They called me continually to go back for a root canal and wanted to redo fillings...no way, no thanks.... They are obviously desperate for clients...

BEWARE OFTEN SOMETHING FREE ENDS UP BEING VERY EXPENSIVE. If you get a bad haircut your hair will grow back. If they break your tooth and have to pull it, it won't grow back and it's thousands of dollars for an implant... If one is even a candidate to get an implant...

Very friendly but they are in training

Very friendly but they are in training. My denture cracked after a few months and they put in a metal mesh in the acrylic then from one and half years after a tooth fell out of my denture in front. They use very cheap material. One of the training dentist there is like a salesman trying to get you to spend money you do not have. Watch out when they clean your teeth, a grinding tool was used for cleaning my teeth that removed the enamel then i needed to get fillings. Each of the students need to do so much work like pulling teeth, fillings and so on. I would not tell anyone to go here. I am very disappointed with my denture and other work that was done here.

Do not go to this place for implants

Do not go to this place for implants! The students were friendly and nice, as were most of the doctors, but the students were students, as to the doctors, the old saying applies "He who can does; he who cannot, teaches". I ended up having all my teeth removed at the School over the period of two years, and did have implants inserted in my upper jaw, and was talked into a snap in denture to determine if I would be satisfied with that and not fixed denture. During this period of time (2 years) while having various procedures, I talked to other patients in the surgery waiting area, and out of maybe 20 patients I talked with, three were waiting for surgery because the implants had failed. (I should have realized something was wrong!) The implants they use are a brand called Bicon, and not the more common brand Nobel Biocare. Nobel Biocare is the implant used by most dentist. After I requested to meet with the dean of the school, concerning delays in appointment scheduling, I was told the school would not longer treat me, and had a guard escort me from the campus! One of my later dentist said the though I was discharged because of the poor quality work that had been performed on me. Back to Bi-Con implants, I called Bi-Con and asked them for a list of dentist in the Phoenix and Denver areas who used their product. Their only customer in Phoenix was Midwestern Dental School and they gave me the names of two dentist in Denver who used their product. Several dentist have refused to work on the Bi-Con implants. I have since had Nobel Biocare implants and a permanent denture place on my lower jaw, and I love it! Please heed my advice and don't go to Midwestern for implants!!

A Nightmare Come True

I used to have nightmares about losing teeth. This place made my nightmares come true. My quality of life has diminished because of the tricks they played on me to get me to agree to let them pull a bunch of teeth out. They made a lot of promises about what they would do for me. Each step of the way I confirmed with them that the work I requested would be done, but there was always something they needed to do first. I make very clear that I did NOT want certain teeth pulled until we were ready for implants and a bridge.

I was assured are reassured time and again that all was well, we were on track. Once they pulled out all of the teeth they wanted to they suddenly changed their policy and would not finish the work as agreed. They then proceeded to change their story 3 more times about why they were not going to do the work they had promised. Note that each step of the way, instructors were approving and agreeing. Once they could not justify pulling any more teeth, they were done with me.

Clearly their main goal is to give the students pulling practice. They know that if you are coming there for service, you do not have resources to sue them. I would love to know how many people they have done this to. I know that several were screwed over as I was during the time I was there.

I highly recommend this university …

I highly recommend this university having a diversity of very professional students, ready to work on your teeth, dentures, crowns, or implants. I have been with the Downer's Grove, IL institution since 2014, and am proud to say that the two students I've seen graduate, "Jeff & Nicole"did such an excellent job on my teeth. From what I hear the students say, the program is very intense, and requires them to go to meetings with other students and their Dental Faculty, and discuss the cases they are treating. They have clinical rotations at different sites, where they learn about different disease processes, and complex cases, extractions, etc. The students are excellent "teachers," since they over-emphasize proper oral hygiene to preserve a good set of teeth. The grounds are beautiful; ample parking lot; check-in is computerized (if you are an existing patient), and the lobby is very clean, cozy, and modern. The restrooms are always clean and fresh! The dental cubicles are the cleanest I've seen in over 50 years that I've been a dental patient at various institutions and dental clinics. I am very impressed with the care I have received at Midwestern U. The University also has other healthcare specialties whose services they offer to the public (e.g., optometry, plus more). The work done by dental students is always presented to the Dental Faculty. They are continuously monitoring the students, and providing recommendations and sharing their expertise with the students. The clerical staff is also very warm and welcoming. As you register for your appointments, the clerical staff may be on the computer, but they never fail to make eye contact, smile, and greet you!
