My father purchased a vehicle from Mecum Auctions. On delivery, one of the vehicle windows won’t close and there are transmission issues. I definitely don’t recommend buying a car from Mecums.

Spent 3000 towing and fees to do Mecum Paperwork for nothing
After jumping through about 20 hoops and being assured that spending $2000 on towing, would not be wasted, Mecum swore the car would sell for 50 and suggested a reserve of 55. The high bid was $38,000 so $2000 towing plus the $1000 listing fee was just pissed away for nothing. Thanks Mecum!

I just finished trying to sell my car…
I just finished trying to sell my car at the Glendale Auction. It was one of the most disappointing experiences I have ever had. I sent documentation and all information I could to them 6 months before the date. They assured me I could easily get my price. My appraisal was available for them and showed how high of quality my build was. After traveling 1500. miles one way Mecum to the auction there was no communication or guidance for a 1st time seller. I paid for a Star spot on Saturday and there were very few bidders and it was rushed across the stage like it was on fire. The "helper" if you can call him that tried to get me to accept an insulting bid after less than 1 minute then immediately shut the bid off. I will never go again or reccommend Mecum to anyone.

All lies and they never pay you
Before I decided to write this I have made 4 calls to Mecum
I gave them plenty of warning and notice with constant mis information and lies.
The whole auction itself is filled with bad information and promises that Do Not Happen
If you have pride in your vehicle Do Not bring it to Mecum. Nobody cares. You are just a number (left windows down after moving my truck)
If you think you will have Anyone helping you when it’s time to go across. You Will not.
As you watch on TV and see them stall for the million dollar cars trying to get the most money for them.
That will not happen
You will be pushed through and No One Cares
After it goes across there is no paperwork No documents. They tell you Check will be mailed
You will receive it within 10 days
All lies
Called to find out after 14 days. Told oh we don’t start sending them out till after 14 days in groups called at 16 days asked where is the check. Oh we don’t send them out till after 3 weeks.
Asked for a supervisor for the third time
Was told check was in the mail on Monday. Called Friday No check. We have no way of tracking your money.
So. After giving $5000to Mecum Auction they can’t send a second day air envelope for $18.
I would keep writing my horrible experience however I need to call Orlando police file a stolen vehicle report. Email the Better Business Bureau. The Attorney General and the local news channels

Lousy TV coverage compared to previous years
The new format for TV coverage is horrible. I used to love to watch Mecum, and I've been to their live sales in Harrisburg PA many times. Sorry but I'll switch back to Barrett-Jackson. It sucks that Mecum does not show the bidders or the crowd anymore, just run the cars across the block as fast as possible

I landed up having to buy a Volkswagen…
I landed up having to buy a Volkswagen bug because I waved to a friend of mine and the guy came over so will you just did this last bid you have to go ahead and buy it you have to do this. I went in the office complained and thought everything is well will take you to court. Will do this. We’ll do that and ran it up costing me money and I finally the guy talked to the guy that put it up for bid any offered me $8000 less for it then I paid them for it But I had to take it so I was out $8000 waving to a buddy of mine to come over and sit I hate Mika auction. They’re liars their thieves and you gotta be careful cause I’ll take it for a ride and the bug was a piece of junk

TV Coverage Getting Worse
My complaint is with the TV coverage, which is getting worse with each televised auction. It seems like the goal is to show fewer and fewer vehicles actually going through on stage, what with all the previews of vehicles coming up “later” or “tomorrow”, all of which will get ample time once it’s their turn on stage. I can’t count how many times I’ve watched a vehicle coming up the ramp that I was looking forward to see, when they switch to another “preview”, go to commercials, then come right back to “preview” another one. I know commercials are a way of life, but it’s frustrating to hear the auction going on in the background while Bill or Chris is telling us all about something that will get plenty of attention when it hits the block.

this only for the broadcast, when you…
this only for the broadcast, when you have a auction and 2/3 of the cars don’t meet the reserve and nothing sells,it get really boring, dont put cars up for auction from owners who have stupid expectations on what there cars are worth, make it be no reserve like the other guys,no reserve makes it fun.

I have purchased 9 cars from Mecum
I have purchased 9 cars from Mecum. Don't trust a clean carfax from them as 3 cars needed serious repairs. In my case they said I could get repairs fixed and they would support that, so far, they refuse to provide any resolution to any of them and will not return calls. McCollister provided delivery of a Bentley and cracked the bumper, transport fees are ridiculous and they make up their own rules and fees as they go along. In my case, they never provided any invoices for transport until after the fact, over-charging for each one. Look elsewhere when looking for cars!

Be aware there selling you a circus…
Be aware it's about a circus experience not about the cars. I purchased 11 cars. 6 had problems to major problems, (thats not Mecum's fault they cannot vet condition). Absolutely everything is a charge and up charge. They corner you into using there transport for cars with tight timelines to remove the car from the lot and charge more than other transports. Food vendors complain about getting overcharged by mecum and they say they have to charge a lot for food. Auctioneers jump pricing on bids and you dont know that the actual bid is tens of thousands less. The auctioneer will misrepresent car values indirectly as if the cars are worth so much more. I dont feel i was treated as a customer ever that there only concern was to get more money from me to enter, sit somewhere , sit closure to the stage, push me to bid more and charge me more for shipping than i pay other companys to ship cars. I feel They could care less about me as a customer Just my money and how to get more of it.

One of the worst experiences of my life
The Same exact thing that happened to Stacey Dressin happened to me.I had registered my car back in March about a good spot on saturday. I was assured I would have that.I went with N/R because I was told byJamie McCloud that there was no way they would let a car go cheap and ruin their reputation.Well everything I was told was not what happened.Dozens and dozens of cars that signed up after me were put in front me so I ended up 281 which was 6:30 on Saturday. There was no one there except a few. 98% of the people were gone to a dinner reservations. A car like my hammered at 104,500 at Mecum Summer Kissimmee the month before Harrisburg. Mine brought 20,000.A 6 year build went up in smoke. It hurt bad! Anyone know a law firm that does this kind on lidigation? My car was detailed by their in house detailer who agreed the engine compartment and interior were all nice. I had his people do the body. Leroys' company did a great job. The car looked beautiful. Mecums comment about maybe it wasn't as good a car as the black one was a comment made off the cuff and dumb. I want to know why Mecum made this desision to do what they did and not notify me as to what they were doing.

title problems
I bought two cars on May 18th,I received both on May 27th,which was good, now comes the bad part, was supposed to send titles out two weeks after auction, I called June 3rd to see when I would get the titles, they said they would be sent in a couple days,Friday June 7th came still no titles.I called again Monday June 10th,they said they would send one the next day and the other car title in a couple daysI finally got one on Thursday.now I am trying to get the other cars title now,its Monday June 17,I called again they said they will check on it and call me back, waited till 5:30 and I called back, she said the title people left for the day and I would here from them tomorrow,With The high fees they charge you would think they would have their act together,First and last time I use Mecum to buy a car(live and learn) I guess, who knows when I will get the other cars title, not honest people

Please get rid of the brunnette…
Please get rid of the brunnette Brazilian girl at the front entrance, so rude. Mecum should have polite smiles welcoming the guests in, not yelling at them on which way they should go. We just had walked in, let us breathe! There was no reason at all to yell at us because we walked the wrong way. She needs a chill pill, it’s not HER auction!

Don't trust Mecum listing agents do your own research.
I listed a fully nut and bolt restored 1969 Chevy C10 truck and was assured by Danile that Sunday was a great day for this. What a bunch of lies. Sunday was mother's day and the bidders weren't in the room, a fully restored C10 got to $19,000 on Sunday when on Friday a rusty oil leaking C20 Chevy got to $17,000 and Saturday a 1969 C10 in the same condition as mine except I have AC and the other truck didn't got to $29,000. Daniel's assurance did nothing but cost me $500 consignment fee plus transportation of the truck to and from Indy. Thanks for nothing Mecum. I usually buy and this was my first and last time selling. The experience left me so mad I dropped the interest I had in 4 cars from one collection loaded the camper and left.

TV Coverage has become unwatchable!
This is about the TV coverage. Boy, has it gone south in the last few years! They should rename the show: "Mecum Auctions Commercial Extravaganza" (which may or may not be followed by a car auction). There are soooo many commercial breaks (and they get longer and longer it seems). And why do they waste OUR time on these useless "car previews" when John Kraman is going to tell us everything we need to know when it crosses the block? It's just stupid! Do car auctions; cut-out the extraneous BS; and maybe, just maybe, you can cut-down on the commercial interruptions! NAH! I'm gone!

Always a smooth experience with Mecum
I attend 2 or 3 of their auctions a year. Sometimes I buy and sometimes sell. Very professional and fair company that is why I only deal with them. I have never had a problem. For someone to say they did not know there was a 10% fee to sell with a reserve is either not truthful or totally in a brain fog. Everything they do is thoroughly explained weeks before and even that day prior to the sale or purchase.
