300EUR wetsuit tears after 4 uses.

I bought a ~300 EUR wetsuit from Atlantis. After the 4th dive, there was a tear just above the ankle. Mares said that this along with the back zipper are two spots that they do not accept returns for. I am always careful with my gear (it is stored in an airconditioned unit) and have previously had no issues with other brands. It seems baffling to me that the warranty should cover the whole wetsuit except for two specific areas. I found the fit of the wetsuit to be perfect too, which is such a shame. Unfortunately this is not the first item I buy from them that doesn't last. The fin strap broke after 25 dives and the dry bag is not dry at all. I'm going to suck it up, pay a bit more and switch to scubapro from now on. Dissapointed.

A Deep Dive into Disappointment with Mares - From Equipment Quality to Customer Service

As a professional diver, I've often turned to Mares for reliable diving gear, expecting a level of quality and service commensurate with their reputation. However, my latest encounter with their customer service and equipment quality has compelled me to share my experience, aiming to shield others from similar frustration.

Encounter with Defective Equipment: My ordeal began with a malfunctioning dive computer, necessitating a return for servicing. Anticipating a straightforward and efficient resolution, I was instead greeted by a disheartening silence—emails vanished into the void for weeks without a trace of acknowledgment.

Service Inefficiency and Inaccessibility: When contact was finally made, the response was underwhelming. My inquiries were only partially addressed, leaving critical issues unresolved. The servicing of my dive computer seemed to be in limbo, and the company struggled to locate a dealer for its return. This lack of efficiency and the inability to provide clear answers or solutions was startling.

Vanishing Promises: The cycle of unkept promises became a recurring theme. Assurances of follow-up communications dissipated as quickly as they were made, leaving me in a perpetual state of waiting. The ongoing delay has put my diving activities on an indefinite pause, amplifying the frustration of being ensnared in a seemingly endless loop of inefficacy.
Absence of Accountability: The most disheartening aspect was the evident lack of responsibility taken by Mares. Problems were shuffled around with no visible intent to resolve them, creating an impersonal and detached process that starkly contrasts with the diving community's spirit of camaraderie and support.

Reflecting on Trust and Quality: Trust is the cornerstone of diving—reliance on your equipment, your abilities, and the integrity of the brands we choose to support. Regrettably, my faith in Mares has been significantly compromised, not just by the initial equipment failure but more so by the subsequent service inadequacies. A brand that I once associated with dependability and high standards now serves as a stark warning of the potential consequences when customer care and product quality falter.

A Call for Improvement: To Mares, this critique is intended as a constructive prompt to reassess and enhance your customer service and quality assurance processes. To my fellow divers, let this serve as a cautionary tale, reminding us that even the most esteemed brands are not immune to significant shortcomings in the areas that matter most.

Just visited the Dutch Mares site

Just visited the Dutch Mares site, looking for new fins. Forwarded to anlage with the fins I wanted to check out. When you look for details of a product the answer is ‘false’ no idea why this is stated but of no use whatsoever and I still have nil technical info. I then tried to go back in the menu to look at more fins but each time told that there are zero results? Tried to contact the site, using the ‘contact’ link but nothing happens…
Big pity and so annoying I decided to place this review.

Inferior quality, customer service non existent.

Purchased the Mares Icon HD with tank transmitter a number of years ago, completed 5 dives, stored it properly, had one battery already replaced, and now there is an issue turning it on and with the screen. Had it checked locally by an agent, who said they can't fix it and it needs to couriered to Italy which will cost $$$$ just in courier cost, not to mention the repair cost. Not just the computer, the rubber compound on the transmitter has become sticky and seems to decompose. I have contacted Mares customer service; they are slow to respond and not customer friendly. As a diving instructor will not purchase Mares again, and neither will I advise any of my students to purchase.
