The auction itself was good, but when I arrived to pick up my items I had to find a way to take down my items from a 10ft wall. If I had been informed I’d have to disassemble the items, or that I ne... See more

Honest, Fair, Smart

Easily the most honest, knowledgeable, and responsive restaurant auctioneer I’ve ever worked with. If you are in the market for commercial restaurant equipment and have been burned before; David is someone you can trust. I did, and shaved 5k off our opening budget

Decline Customer Without Communication

Yesterday, I tried to bid within an online Hibid.com auction run by Madalyn Auctions. After my registration showing as "Registered", I proceeded to begin bidding. When my bids showed as not accepted for the amount which followed the bidding guidelines, higher than current bids and below $20.00, I attempted to phone the auction company to learn the reason. They refused to answer any of the multiple calls. Also, there was no reply other than the automated acceptance email with David Thompson signature block at the bottom. At the time, my Hibid reputation score was 75. For several years it has been a perfect 100 with hundreds of bids and numerous successful purchases.

I reviewed my Hibid reputation score personally to learn that Madalyn Auctions had declined me as a "difficult" customer when they read about two (2) prior incidents (see below).

I phoned again the day after the online auction and spoke with David Thompson of Madalyn Auctions. He stated he had read my email explaining and confirmed I was permanently declined. If they had accepted my phone calls and allowed an explanation, I would feel a bit different. For them to decline without contacting me at all AND place that on my Hibid reputation score is quite disturbing to me. I'm not sure how you would feel if it happened to you.

EARLIER CITED INCIDENTS:
1) Rustic Ridge Online (Wisconsin) who sold plastic as 14k jewelry and then placed a bad reputation for me on Hibid. The investigation is still ongoing.
2) Estate Consultants 123 Inc from New York which still has Timothy W. Conroy handling communications, shipping, and maybe more. I purchased a piece of jewelry posted as 14k gold when it was not. Mr. Conroy agreed to accept my return and refunded my purchase. He then proceeded to impugn my Hibid reputation score.

Please see https : // www. syracuse .com/crime/2019/04/elbridge-auctioneer-who-cheated-customers-out-of-400k-found-in-contempt-of-court.html which the New York Attorney General's office showed as he was never to be doing auctions there again.

The big ticket item that we purchased…

The big ticket item that we purchased was a cooler. Yes, technically it "worked" and that was by just turning on but it did not cool at all. Had a tech look at it and told us it would need alot of work. Feel like it was misleading.

It was a helpful auction and I…

It was a helpful auction and I certainly would buy again. The products were not described as perfect and they certainly were not perfect. You will get what you pay for and that’s a positive.

David is first class

David is first class! My wife and I had never done an auction before. It was easy to sign up to the platform and on the day of the open house, David have me a quick rundown of what to expect. It went great! We couldn't be happier with our bargin treasures and the ease of business! I highly recommend!

Helpful staff

My favorite local bar/restaurant closed and I bought some memorabilia. The staff let me borrow a full-size ladder when the one that I brought was too small.

Deceiving pictures and pricing

Items were not as pictured at all, quite deceiving actually. Lot numbers were not on items when we arrived. Made for quite a scavenger hunt at times. Did not find auction staff to be very helpful at all, especially when he sat right next to people standing on items we had purchased. Spent most of his time outside smoking.

No problems.

No problems.
My lot was as presented during the bidding.
Uneventful pickup.
Most of the lots I bid on sold for more $$ than I would pay...
Maybe these folks will host another local sale soon.

The auction pickup was at a restaurant…

The auction pickup was at a restaurant that was full of mold. That should have been revealed. Was told equipment tested and worked but the restaurant had no electricity, plus the equipment had missing parts. I tried texting and calling before bidding for guestions. The number given for a David no answer and no response.
