$73.80 for a $232 lab test that my insurance won't cover... wow!
I'm 73, male and concerned about becoming diabetic. I'm "Pre-diabetic" now and do not want to progress to becoming diabetes. So, I've been doing intermittent fasting and keto-diet, and have lost 55lbs. But, my blood glucose has not dropped. I need to check my insulin sensitivity and my doc refuses to prescribe a HOMA-IR test. Quest labs has a test for insulin sensitivity called [36509] - Cardio IQ® Insulin Resistance Panel with Score Online they range from $82 to $232. They set you up with a local lab, in my case Quest Diagnostics. With their 1st purchase coupon I paid $73.80. I did have some trouble scheduling and called them, it took their CS about 1 minute to fix this. I am IMPRESSED! Screw my doc telling me what labs I can have and what not, I know what I'm doing, and sadly, him, well, not so much (or perhaps so overworked he no longer will bother). If you want data and your doc won't test you, use labtestingapi.com (Note: I've used paypal to pay, so if anything goes wrong, they'll protect me) I'll update this after my lab draw, but for now, double thumbs up
