Argument For A Higher Tech Current

The lower star rating is due to Kim's overly aggressive push of her newsletter. There is a much better approach. Like her, I read lots of stuff for my job. I am hardly a lazy reader. When it is time for consuming podcasts, I view them as entertainment and the last thing I want is more to read. The only rational is that if Kim has to do all this reading, then a Komando fan has to, at least, read one daily newsletter to get all the latest tech info. If Kim does not take any of my suggestions, then it is Kim that will be left in the digital dust. Some ideas:1. Create AI voices that sound kind of like you and Andrew, yet just a little off, so listeners can tell the difference, then have these phony voices read the newsletter using email or made into a separate podcast. 2. Use electronic voices, not to sound anything like Kim and Andrew, that will be completely made up characters that tell Kim-like jokes and use Andrew comebacks along with original content that is monitored. As Kim warns, AI does hallucinate. Whatever the method she chooses, Kim has to make it more fun for the subscriber than simply reading it. If anyone can come up with a winning approach, and monetize it, it should be someone who brags about being a digital goddess. While she is at it, she can share the result with Clark Howard, who also has a newsletter. Granted, there are purists who will resist change. Kim, herself, says that the tech is here to stay. The audience can be polled and keep the Current, as is, for those still would who still want it. Yet, why not use this developing tech to make the Current as fun as possible? This is also likely where most of the future subscriber growth will be realized.

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback!

I’ve mentioned on my shows several times that we’ve experimented with AI voices to read The Current. The truth? It’s just not up to my standards, not yet. When it is, you can bet I’ll be all over it, in a way that’s fun, useful, and true to my style.

As for promoting the newsletter, we reach over 700,000 people a day. You don’t grow something that size by whispering. 🙂 It’s Marketing 101 and if I didn’t mention it on the shows, I’d be doing a disservice to the folks who rely on me to stay tech-savvy.

I genuinely appreciate your ideas, especially the creative spin with character voices. It’s on my radar and I love when smart listeners push the conversation forward. Thank you!

I’ve learned sooo much reading this newsletter

Love reading KK’s newsletter daily! It’s filled with so much great information on tech stuff and keeps me in the loop on new scams, computer hacking and great discount recommendations. I really enjoy the multiple answer questions she lists at the beginning of the newsletter. Keeps me on my toes. Definitely recommend signing up for her newsletter, especially our older population, who, like me, may not be so computer savvy. Thank you Kim!

Kim has solved several difficult problems for me. I have listened to her amazing radio show and podcast for many years. I think she was smart to add Andrew to the broadcast to bounce ideas and jokes off of. I look forward to the newsletter each day and her weekly show as well. I trust Kim Komando.

Love this website

Love this website. Not tech savvy, so have used lots of her ideas with my pad and phone. Also forwarded her to my children who are savvy, but still check her daily shows and like them as well.

Love "The Current" newsletter, but had problems canceling my membership to Komando Community

As a subscriber to "The Current" newsletter "powered by Kim Komando," I was offered a free 30-day trial at Kim's Komando Community. In order to activate the offer, I was required to enter my credit card to join. I did not find the Community helpful so around 10 days before my free membership expired, I requested to cancel it. No response. Over the next several days, I emailed Kim at her "Support" email a few times as well as at her "Cancel" email a few times, emailed replies to the newsletter address, and called the phone number provided to cancel memberships 800 566-2636. No one answers at the 800 number and callers are advised to leave voice messages which I did. I also posted a message to Kim Komando in her Community. All of this was to no avail, and this morning I discovered that my card had been charged to renew my membership yesterday. I would like a refund and for my membership to be canceled asap. I do like her daily free newsletter "The Current".
Update/Edits: A few days after posting this, the refund was issued and membership was canceled. Thank you.

Hi Laurie,

First, thank you for being a loyal reader of The Current. I’m so glad to hear you’re enjoying the newsletter!

I’m truly sorry about the trouble you had trying to cancel your Community trial. That’s not the experience we want anyone to have, and I appreciate you taking the time to let me know.

To process your refund and ensure your membership is fully canceled, we just need one last detail, your last name on the account. When you have a moment, please send me a direct message at komando.com/contact-us/askkim. I personally read every note that comes through there.

Thanks again for your support and again, I’m sorry this didn’t go smoothly. We’ll make it right.

Warmly,
Kim Komando

With more than 25 years of listening to her show no longer will I

With more than 25 years of listening to Kim commando today was my last day three hours of self promotion with her cohort, no content no interest, no takeaways of excellence. The worst part was when she mentioned Trust Pilot and said how great her reviews were and for everyone too, give her a shout out and how great her reviews were. I have to say that after decades of listening to her and gleaming, some sort of fact, I came away turning it off after the three hours and was disappointed that she was trying to influence Trust Pilot. The last 15 minutes were self promotion not content!

Hi there,

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and for being a listener for over 25 years. That kind of loyalty means the world to me, and I never take it for granted.

I’m genuinely sorry to hear that this recent show didn’t deliver the content and value you’ve come to expect. Every episode is meant to inform, entertain, and empower with a healthy dash of personality and, yes, some promotion when we believe in something.

As for the Trustpilot mention, you’re right, I did talk about it.

It was about two minutes long where I shared how honored I was that we’ve earned a 99% five-star rating. That wasn’t about patting myself on the back. It was a thank you to the community that’s supported this show for so long, and a little encouragement for others to share their voices too.

I truly appreciate your honesty. I hope you’ll give us another shot soon. The next show might just remind you why you listened all these years.

I'm retired and I could not keep up with all the new scams/shortcut keystrokes/Tec knowledge/and tips. Kim is my best go-to for information and she keeps me smart and safe. Plus her newsletter has some good chuckles too.

Very timely and helpful information

Very timely and helpful information and "tips" - sometimes difficult for non-tech people to follow. However, they're there and she's always willing to hold your hand. Pretty good puns, too!
