Appalling service

Bed frame delivered damaged. 'Support' agent lied telling me a replacement would be delivered on a certain day. Never arrived. Impossible to get straight answers from semi-literate chat 'support' agents. Stupidly long wait times to even connect to anyone. Frankly, shockingly bad online experience. This is a case study in how to lose previously loyal customers.

Order not delivered

Order not delivered – lost £75 in income and only offered £15 compensation.
I paid £30 for delivery of IKEA PAX wardrobes on 4 July. I booked a day off work (worth £75), cancelled a doctor’s appointment, and waited all day. Delivery never came. I was repeatedly promised it would arrive by 1:30pm, then by 7:30pm — all false. Finally, the driver told me at 3:45pm it wouldn’t come.

I had a joiner booked for the next day and everything got pushed back. IKEA rescheduled the delivery without even a confirmation message. When I chased it again, they said it won't come today either.

Customer service has only offered me £15, which is insulting after all the time, money, and stress this caused. As a high blood pressure patient, this has seriously affected my health. I expected better from a company like IKEA.

Still waiting for a proper resolution — otherwise will escalate to the Furniture Ombudsman and Trading Standards

Big consistent disappointment on delivery

On the day of delivery of a wardrobe, was notified just before the afternoon slot that the delivery had been rescheduled, no explanation. Had to call them to find out that the item was apparently “damaged”. On redelivery day (afternoon slot confirmed), called up to find out about tracking link and was notified that the item apparently had “missing parts”, so delivery would again need rescheduling. If this wasn’t highly inconvenient and representing incredibly poor service, it would be laughable. Should have used Wayfair instead - very similar item and lower cost, but thought Ikea would be reliable, regrettably not. Incredulous that they mess up but the customer has to chase them to find this out. Won’t use them again after this circus.

Damaged to property during delivery

I recently had an Ikea bed delivered to my property and caused significant damage to my recently fitted wood floor. I have approached Ikea regarding compensation for this and they are denying any accountability as it was a contracted delivery firm. This lack of accountability is against their own conditions which clearly states they will remain accountable regardless.
The delivery firm (XPO, Leigh) have ignored all communication for the last few weeks and one of their employees actually swore at me on the phone.
I am taking legal action.

Where to begin

Where to begin? A simple order for a 12 quid clip-on lamp has been so monumentally mishandled. Original order was "available for collection" at nearby Tesco car park but then it was mysteriously cancelled. A phone call to IKEA to arrange delivery to my home via DPD had a similar outcome as the driver "missed me" - I was at home and in any case he was instructed to leave in a safe place. Another phone call to deliver a replacement to my home today went the same way, despite tracking my delivery slot on the DPD app. You couldn't make it up. Another phone call to IKEA to cancel order and request a refund. I have also written to UK CEO but am not expecting much. Two international companies that couldn't organise the proverbial in a brewery, let alone handle a basic
commercial transaction.

Home delivery/ collection

Paid 45£ for home delivery, furniture doesn’t fit. Booked a collection for return, paying 25£ for booking collection in 2 weeks time! Missed one call the day before, therefore no collection!!! Booked again in 2 weeks time another collection. How long more to wait???? Can you arrange a collection before 2 weeks time?? Can you call 1h before collection, not 1 day before??

Purchased a Pressure Cooker from Ikea a few years ago, an item you would think would last a long time but unfortunately it didn't and now I find there are no spare parts available, surprise surprise. Such a waste of materials all because it was designed with a plastic fitting on the lid. Do they care? I doubt it. If buying a pressure cooker from anywhere make sure it has the old fashioned weights on top cos it works and lasts.

Terrible Service

Ordered for collection at a pickup point, took the afternoon off to collect and assemble.

They delivered someone else's stuff. Great.

Customer service then promised a delivery for Wednesday, only half the stuff shows up.

They did give me a £10 voucher though. Great.

Company policy at Ikea

Be careful when returning goods for a refund if they agree you can return and ask if you would like a voucher or back to your original card, always choose card as if you take back your now goods for any reason and they are on excellent condiotion you only receive another voucher. You can complain using their online number for complaints but they never escalate it to you receiving a call back to sort , you have to contact the store manager.
Not good

I had the worst experience ordering…

I had the worst experience ordering from IKEA. I scheduled my delivery for 4th July, but they attempted delivery on 30th June without my consent—when I wasn’t even home.

When I called to sort it out, I was told the order would be refunded. It’s been over two weeks now and still no refund or proper update.

To make things worse, IKEA’s customer support is shockingly rude. Every call has been a nightmare—agents speaking over me, being dismissive, loud, and completely unhelpful. I simply asked to reschedule the delivery for 10th July, but instead, I was met with aggression, harassment, and threats to cancel my order.

Absolutely unacceptable. IKEA, do you not value your customers’ time or basic respect?

Avoid at all costs if you value your sanity. IKEA used to be a trusted name—now it’s just a massive disappointment.

E mailed IKEA to send a replacement…

E mailed IKEA to send a replacement wardrobe door .. door arrived ...plus a full wardrobe frame .. Emailed them again requesting they pick up the wardrobe frame as it was blocking my kitchen press door ..email back telling me to keep the frame .. showing how much they value their merchandise . Received a date when they would pick it up after umpteen e mails .. they didn't turn up and are now not answering my e mails and cannot get through on the phone . I would charge them for storage but eventually it cost me £49 for a bulk uplift from the council .They wardrobe was a nightmare to build and I have been building flat packs for over 20 years .. very unsteady as the only support for a 7ft high wardrobe was the flimsy back board ..no middle support so as I was going to have visitors from abroad arriving I had to reinforce it myself with angle irons and a middle MDF support . I was supplied with bigger and stronger dowels for a set of drawers .Needless to say I won't be using IKEA in the future .

Very poor experience

I ordered some bedroom storage and paid to have it assembled. The items arrived. Subsequently the assemble date was cancelled. I contacted Ikea, they said it was nothing to do with them (despite having paid them). I contacted task rabbit who said it was ikea’s responsibility.

I am nearly £400 down and Ikea have no interest in resolving the issue.

Never using ikea again

Ordered a bed and mattress and paid the 40 pounds extra to get it express, took a day off work unpaid and sat around all day only for my order to be cancelled half way through my delivery time frame, terrible company and genuinely will never use ikea again, I’ve had problems before and it seems their shipping logistics service just isn’t good enough, if you’re charging people that much for delivery it should at least be delivered on time, Amazon can do it why can’t a massive company like ikea?

UTTERLY DISAPPOINTED

I'm only giving a 1 star because there's no option for zero. The store in question is Ikea, Ashton Under-Lyne, Greater Manchester. We bought a Brimmes guest bed and realised that some parts were missing when assembling. We rang Ikea and we were advised that we could get spare parts at the store. However, when we got there we were told that it will be least 2 before the parts are delivered. I explained that we had already got rid of the old bed and that my would have no bed to sleep on. To make matters even worse we had visitors coming to sleep over the following day. The member of staff attending to us was very unsympathetic and only said it's unfortunate there's nothing else he can do. I even suggested that they pull out the parts from one of the boxes in the shop and he didn't even entertain the idea. This is not the first time I've had a bad experience at Ikea.

Stay away from the canteen and meatballs

Waited months to visit ikea Warrington after the kitchen refurbishment and what a disappointment! The food was half cooked the kitchen was filthy the staff were so unprofessional and unmotivated. We left our food and went to the showroom to buy our furniture which was out of stock. Ikea used to be so good. It’s gone downhill fast

Brimness bedroom chest of drawers

I bought a Brimness chest of drawers, got the whole thing home (peak hour traffic in Glasgow) moved everything out the way, started setting it up and discovered I had 5 RHS drawer runners and 3LHS. I phoned customer service, extremely annoyed and was told yet they could send a new one but it would be 14 days till a driver would come. I would therefore have to tramp back through Glasgow to get a replacement. I asked if there was some sort of compensation as it was their fault was told it was up to the store manager and IKEA themselves couldnt authorise anything. I am not impressed that I am out of pocket for their mistakes. I will return to the store for the missing piece and if I dont receive adequate compensation for my time, hastle and frustration I will be taking this further. I was given a sob story that thousands of units are sold and this one must have slipped through, but if one slipped through then many many more must also have also slipped through and their quality control must be lacking in some way and needs reviewed!

YOUR STAFF ARE LIARS......

YOUR STAFF ARE LIARS......I am utterly shocked at the blatant lies of one of the members of your staff and apparently he looks after your security and customer service. No interest in helping a young girl who was in bits in your store after a theft of a personal item. Lied directly to our faces. IKEA, you should be ashamed of yourselves. I appreciate that everyone is busy but surely if someone asks for help, then someone will help and not lie. What has happened to compassion and helping each other. I for one will NEVER be using IKEA after this.
