Deceptive Business Practices

IDT Energy apparently enjoys operating entirely through deception. I was approached at my home today by a very personable young man named Jerome, who intimated that he was here to speak with me from PPL (my local utility company) in order to clear-up a rate discrepancy in my favor. (Obviously I should have known better at once, but alas, he caught me just home from work with five other things on my mind!) At no point did he say he was from IDT Energy, nor reveal that his actual purpose there was to deceive me into signing a contract with them, and yet that is what he suckered me into doing, unaware and unseen. The entire conversation he spoke solely about PPL, not IDT; indeed, the words "IDT Energy" never left his mouth, nor did "contract" nor "alternative energy supplier." He was very careful to make sure I never saw beyond the signature box that he had zoomed-in on to hide the fact that the signature was for a contract, not a confirmation box from PPL. He filled out everything, making it seem as though he was just going through my account with PPL on his device, moving through it all so fast that I never caught a clear glimpse of what he was doing, yet with the phone turned at just such an angle that it didn't SEEM like he was hiding anything...except for the few seconds now and then when he had to turn it another way, just for a moment, to do something else. It was very shrewdly done! (Honestly, Jerome deserves a raise, he's an extremely accomplished deceiver.) It wasn't until he left, and I saw the text message in my inbox with the link to the contract to be signed, that I realized what had happened. IDT Energy are liars, and fraudsters, and they ought to be shut down.

Created a fake email, phone number, and forged my signature

A man showed up and presented himself as working for Pepco and asked to see my bill. He had Pepco attire on, so I trusted him. He then used the info on my bill to get my electricity supplier switched to IDT. He created a FAKE email, a FAKE phone number, and used that to forge the documents.

Scammers

Scammers, be careful, cause at our house no one signed up, and our electricity and gas bills went up 3-4 times charged by them.
