Very poor

I booked afternoon tea to celebrate something special with my in-laws who travelled especially to London for the occasion. The booking was made two months prior, a confirmation email two days before the booking, only to receive an email the day of to say they weren’t doing afternoon tea. Very poor show.

Just what the dr ordered

We recently stayed at the hotel du vin Wimbledon for our “minimoon”. We found our room to be everything we wanted it to be. The bed was comfy, room service was prompt and the staff were polite. We only had breakfast at the hotel but there was lots to choose from and indulge on.
Would we return - definitely.

Best Bristol City Centre Hotel

I’ve stayed all over Bristol for work, and this has been the nicest stay by far. Rooms are clean and well finished, even for a standard room they’re a good size, and the bathroom is really quite impressive. Will absolutely stay again.

The sad demise of hotel du vin.....

Ripped off by not being advised to book dinner 30mins earlier, therefore having to pay a la carte menu prices for the same dishes we chose on the prix fixe menu at around £40 more. Also, late check out was impossible to consider due to constant drilling ruining our stay. We used to use this hotel frequently as our business was based in Fawley just up the road. It was such a disappointment returning after a few years. The hotel looks old and worn out and needs a major facelift.

Cream/Afternoon Tea, Brighton

Wasn’t over enthusiastic about the cream tea, Top level: Apple pastry was nice, chocolate pot was nice but would have been nicer if it had cream on the top instead of condensed Milk, crème brûle was amazing, Profitta rolls were hard but nice.Middle layer: The sandwich’s weren’t sandwiches Brioche roll, wrap, croissant, and French stick, they were bland as had no cucumber or lettuce in them and the ham could have done with a bit of mustard, the chicken had tarragon in it so tasted a bit like soap this one came in the French stick which was dry. Although the tomato and feta cheese wrap was too wet. They were too small for my husband who doesn’t really like the deserts. Bottom layer: Scones were good, but had to ask for more butters as they only gave us 2.. Choice of tea’s were good and could have more if wanted. Shame there were no choices in the sandwich’s, would have rather had egg or cheese instead of the feta and tomato.
The staff were lovely though. And the restaurant was clean and nicely decorated.

Lovely Experience for Afternoon Tea…

Took my partner's mother for afternoon tea on mother's day. The food was terrific and I had stipulated in advance that there were 2 vegetarians, so they catered for that very well. We also had a fantastic seat in some beautiful armchairs in front of the fireplace. My partner's mother absolutely loved it. Waiting staff were helpful but not intrusive. Overall, one of the nicest afternoon teas I've had.

Well that was a £220 disaster

Well that was a £220 disaster. We stayed at the Cambridge location expecting the usual Mal Maison type experience , how wrong could we be. Started with the cold water on the bathroom barely a trickle , dusty and dull room , and finished with hard yolk eggs masquerading as poached. Put a dampener on what was supposed to be a celebration.

So why wait a month to post ….. well after complaining to reception and the lady saying the manager will be in contact , I tho k a months wait is reasonable time for a response , but nothing !

AVOID

Please avoid. First time in this chain Hotel. We have been robbed in our room, £6k of items been taken. Management colude, only 1.5 hours in Hotel having dinner in their restaurant, they got into our room exactly 2 minutes later after we left (police told us) they knew me and my wife left to have dinner downstairs and only they have access. No response from their side, no talking to us for 5 hours while we wait for answers. I had to call Police as they refused. Professional, they used gloves as forensic showed. Again management never came to talk to us or apologise or give any explanations. We feel like we have been raped, no cameras in corridors, we do not feel safe, they offer a free drink in the bar as if that is going to make us feel better. No one word to make us feel as a Human being. Zero customer service. Be careful to visit this place. We were targeted by Hotel staff, that is obvious. You could be next

Anna - Hotel du Vin Wimbledon 5 stars she is amazing

Hotel du Vin Wimbledon - Anna

Me and my husband have stayed over with Hotel Du Vin Wimbledon mid Feb for my husband’s birthday. One of the loveliest hotels I’ve even seen. However Anna has been so so helpful as she offered to help me with my lactose intolerance and supported me with vegan or lactose free options and I felt so looked after like nowhere else! Her customer service skills are admirable! Thank you Anna and Hotel Du Vin Wimbledon!

What a disappointment

My wife & I stayed at the Poole Hotel to celebrate our upcoming 45th wedding anniversary. After a warm welcome we were shown to a freezing room the outside temperature was 2-3 C, no heating apart from a very small electric radiator. This was unacceptable and we asked to move to another room, non available all that they could do was put in another small electric radiator. We moved to another room the next day this was warmer but no heating the bathroom as the radiator was broken. The room was also near the kitchen so we were disturbed by some kitchen machinery turning on and off all night. I wrote to tell the CEO about how disappointing our stay was, needless to say no response. We won't be staying at a Hotel du Vin again

Very interesting and entertaining

Taken by my daughter for wine tasting as a birthday treat at Hotel du Vin, Cheltenham
Had a lovely time tasting sparkling wines with very knowledgeable sommelier (Tom?), who gave lots of interesting details on how to get the best flavour from wine, information on different varieties etc.

Hotel du Vin in Exeter

Hotel du Vin in Exeter. We booked a junior suite and we got a room which was small for a suite ie not a suite. The bath was behind the bed. The wardrobe was spilt with a door each side of the room. We could not enter either door of the wardrobe as it was too narrow.. Shower was open to the bedroom which made it hugely uncomfortable to shower. There was zero privacy for anything. This was a badly set out room and certainly never was a suite.
Parking could not be pre-arranged and was charged at £20 per night. Food was average but waiters in their amazing attitude and service made up for food. Rules on bar/library were hilarious, could not sit in bar until 3.00pm despite being empty. In the evening, could not sit in library for drinks as it was quite time even though the small bar was full. Had to sit in corridor. . Overall, will never go back, overpriced, too many rules and rooms not up to standard. The hotel does Exeter a shame as it is still an eye and ear hospital. Unbelievable that it is a 4 star hotel - what a rip off and a joke.

Sneaky hidden charges

Sneaky hidden charges. Hotel Du Vin - Newcastle. Excellent rooms and very stylish. Staff all very welcoming and helpful but ..like others no mention of the £15 parking charges when I rang up beforehand to see if they had parking. Had to ask for the itemised bill. The default is not to offer it. That way you don't see the odd hidden charge.

The food was excellent apart from the cheeseboard. Imagine 4 squares of cheese ...1" square and 1/8" thick. Dry. Tasteless. Fortunately due to an oversight in the dining room, it was brought later to my room at no charge.
