I get constant compliments on this Functional Technique gi I have been training in! As I do know Damien Wright personally I can say his considerate, giving and hard working character is fully reflected in the thought and design of this gi; including to the extent that he is a savage on the mat is on full display in the reliability, dependability and common sense design of this gi. With this Functional Technique gi Damien and his business partner have committed to coming up with a truly one of a kind premium setup for any grappler.

The gi jacket is very durable, breathable and comfortable for me due to the well constructed materials and smart stitching patterns in the sleeves, collar and skirt.
However, this gi really shines and dominates in the pants. These pants have a little stretch in them but are still firm to the grip due to the percentages of various materials considered in its construction. The stitching for me has never failed and while rolling I do not lose my pants due to the very unique design of the belt. This is a real belt with a reliable, lightweight and well designed strong, plastic buckle system. The belt is a flat, lightweight belt strap that feels invisible while wearing and for others rolling with you. The buckle design is very smart that it has mobility built into it, does not pinch or hurt and is nearly impossible to get caught on any fabric including your training partner's. These pants are also practical to wear either before or after training if need be either to run errands or be elsewhere as they look more like a regular pant than a typical gi pant. These pants also include convertible pockets which can conceal up completely while rolling or open up to be used. These pockets are deep and very usable! Even with pockets left open and accessible during rolling they do not interfere at all as they are sleek and modest from the outside.

I also want to mention that I have many hoodies, but picked up a hoodie from FNTQ (Functional Technique) and was very impressed. It is super comfortable; roomy in the right spots and functional where needed as it has a slightly oversized hood on it and a zipper pouch on top of the hand warmer/pocket in front. This 'kangaroo pouch' has been absolutely amazing and something you do not realize you needed until you have it. I picked a second FNTQ hoodie up in another color. They are amazingly perfect for hanging out and securing your personal items, travel on a plane or to wear as a warmup before a competition in which you can zip up your mouth guard in pouch (as we've all seen many lost mouth guards on floor at a comp). This is one of the best hoodies on the market.
If you're thinking about it, do it. Get yourself some gear and see for yourself. At FNTQ they will also accommodate you by being able to mix and match jacket and pants sizes as needed for you personally to build your fit. Again, I still get many compliments every time I train in the gi and everyone is asking how to get one. The assurance of purchasing from such good people and amazing customer service at FNTQ is priceless peace of mind. I will be back! Especially for more colors being released in near future!

Definitely the best gi I’ve owned! The pockets in the pants are a game changer. Instead of having to carry a bag with me in the morning, I can throw my phone, keys, mouthgard in the pockets and go straight to the gym. The top is very lightweight (not bulky like the other gi’s i own) and they have some cool design options so you can mix and match your top/pants.

I didn’t know that when I started training jiujitsu, that I’d be stepping into a world/culture of its own. One huge aspect of that culture is the training gear. And one of the hardest aspects of training gear is finding the brand that fits your body type. I’m a heavier dude (some would say “high calorie” LOL), and finding rash guards that don’t ride up while you’re getting folded is hard to find. I was lucky enough to have found Functional Technique; their rash guards are longer torso, with an elastic band at the base of the torso to help prevent it from riding up. I wear an XL, and it fits just right 👌🏽. I now own and rotate through several of the rash guards because they’re just that good!

Soon, my next purchase is the Gi, I tried one on and they’re comfy as hell. Functional, if you will. This is a great brand, local to the Sacramento area, and their support team is quick to respond. They got stickers and Hoodies too!

Just picked up my new functional technique gi! Fits like a glove and it’s great to not have to worry about tying strings on my pants. Immediately wore it during class and it feels very comfortable yet durable. You can tell it’s made from high quality material. Get you one !

I am a lifetime martial artist competed at the highest levels. Been dealing with the stand-up arts for all my life and have started my Jujitsu journey. These are the best on the market. The most functional is the most comfortable and the best looking geese high-quality high-performance and they look great and feel great. They are extremely durable, extremely lightweight and they allow for full range of motion and they allow you to get the most out of your workouts. Since beginning my Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) journey, I have had the opportunity to train in Gis from numerous renowned brands such as Shoyoroll, AP, Kingz, and Ctrl Industries. Each brand offers its unique features and qualities, but none have impressed me as much as Functional Techniques.

Exploring the world of jiu jitsu, I searched for the perfect rash guard for skin protection. When Functional Technique introduced their product, I had to try it out. After a few rolls, I was impressed by the quality and comfort of the material, and I ended up buying more rash guards that I also use during my regular workouts. A product which I would highly recommend.

The functional technique gi is a game-changer. The weave jacket is incredibly comfortable without sacrificing durability. The pants are the perfect weight, allowing for unrestricted movement. The fit is spot-on, with the jacket striking the ideal balance between mobility and coverage. 2 additional features I absolutely love is the belt and pant pockets. A lot of thought went into the design. This is a top-tier for both training.

I've been training for over 14 years and the quality, comfort and functionality of these gi pants are unlike any other I've ever owned. There's no restrictions in any of your movements which is my favorite thing about the pants. The Gi top has a great thread count and is equal to any other high end Gi that I've ever owned.

I am a 5’10, 150lbs female purple belt. In general a gi that fits is an expensive joke! My FNTQ sizes are A1 Top and a A1L bottoms and it fits great! I really love that I was able to mix and match. I don’t dry it though, long limbs don’t allow for it, in just about ANY gi. The pockets are cool but my favorite feature is the belt. My FNTQ gi is the only gi that I own that STAYS on my narrow rear end.. I would recommend this gi to anyone.

I wasn’t sure which Gi would fit me best and Damien was amazing about helping me figure out the sizing.

Love being able to flip out the pockets in the gi pants when I’m on the go and the sweater having the zipper pocket gives me peace of mind when it comes to my glasses.

After having used several gi's this is the one that hits all the marks. It fit amazing, it's durable, and comfortable. The pants are versatile to wear before class. And I can't express how much I enjoy the hoodie having both the hand warmer pocket and the kangaroo pouch pocket. Best gear all around!!!

Functional technique has some of the most comfiest Gis and functional BJJ apparel on the market! I highly recommend if you are shopping for your next Gi. They even have belts for your Gi pants. No more tying your Gi pants between rounds!

I have been through a few gis from training jiu jitsu and I have a big issue with fitting. Either the sleeve and pants are too long or too short or the they're too baggy or too tight. Functional Technique allows me to get a custom fit on my gi so the top and bottoms fit perfectly. Plus the pants easily turn into everyday pants. Works out perfect when you need to go to the store afterwards because other pants don't have pockets. I honestly can't wait for other innovative ideas they have to come.

Custom sized gi's thar fit perfectly. These aren't like the traditional baggy gi's you're use to. They're unique to your specific shape. The pants are super comfortable and you can wear them for every day use. I use them when I ride my bike no can tell they're gi pants. 10/10!

These gi's are vastly different than regular gi's. Their pants are innovative, made with a belt that keeps the pants on tight without getting in the way during rolls. The fabric is very sturdy. The gi's are made for a multitude of different body types taking into account different proportions which is hard to find in regular gi's. Highly recommend!

I wear a handful of different brands, and always go with Functional Technique as my first choice. The fit, quality, and durability are superior to my other gi’s. I’d also like to mention their pants are practical and useful on and off the mat with foldable pockets and belt.
