As a roofing contractor
As a roofing contractor, I feel compelled to share my disappointing experience with Fixr.com's lead generation service. The results have been far from satisfactory, and here's why:
Significant Drop in Conversion Rates
Our lead-to-appointment conversion rate plummeted from 70% to 33% after implementing Fixr.com
The quality of leads was consistently poor, with many unqualified prospects who were "just taking a look around" and "Curious" about the roof calculator.
Poor Return on Investment
Substantial marketing budget wasted on low-quality leads
Cost per acquisition was much higher than promised
No meaningful return on our investment
Impact on Business Operations
Wasted valuable time following up with unqualified leads
Had to allocate additional resources to screen and filter leads

While you suggest a 25-35% appointment rate as acceptable, this falls significantly short of our standard 70% lead-to-appointment conversion rate that we consistently achieve through other channels (which convert) and our referral program. The quality of Fixr.com leads resulted in a dramatic drop to 33% conversion, creating significant operational inefficiencies for our team.
Your suggested marketing cost calculations based on 10-15 leads per closed deal don't align with our market reality in Rhode Island's coastal regions, where we serve communities like Newport, Narragansett, and Jamestown. Our data shows that higher-quality leads from other sources convert in less than half the time, demonstrating that better lead quality directly impacts closure rates and ROI.

We understand your frustration with the lead generation service and the impact it has had on your business. It appears in this case that the consultant you talked to before buying leads may not have set clear expectations.
Our expectations at Fixr with respect to roofing leads are:
You will be able to contact 75+% of the leads:
You will be able to sit 25-35% of the leads as appointments; and
That you will close between 15-20% of appointments for an overall close rate of 6-8% of all raw leads.
This means buying around 10-15 leads per closed deal. With the average new roof cost being around $12,000-$14,000 this is around a 10-12% cost of marketing.
It appears from the appointment set rate that you mention in your review you were on track to achieve this.

I happen to be burning the midnight oil and the FIXR ad came about while I was looking at home improvement things. I completed the quick and simple intake form and got a call from a reputable local contractor the next day. They came out the very next day and made me knowledgeable of all the things I needed for my house project. It was the best contractor experience I’ve had since owning a home. No cap! We sealed the deal that same day. Therefore the FIXR site is great and I’ll definitely use again.

Bad Advertising Site for Contractors
We use a lot of advertising platforms and no other site currently has the requirements or flaws this site has. This is so 2010!!!
Here is a quick summary of how this platform works for a contractor.
-Spend a lot of money up front on an unproven advertising product
-Be told that your leads are going to be exclusive but find out that 6 other contractors are making calls at the same time as us
-Be told that about 40 leads are given per month in the 5 counties you work in but for some reason we have only received 8 plus
-Have your phone on speed dial for when the call comes in you and get to it in time and pray like heck that you win the lottery of the customer answering your call.
-If you miss the call and return it within 5 minutes, you are then to late and the customer will not answer because they had so many others reach out to them
