Disorganised, unprofessional, and a thoroughly disappointing experience.

I used the Enterprise branch on Uxbridge Road, Slough, for a hire car provided through an insurance claim while my own car was in for repair. The entire process was shambolic from start to finish, and I would not recommend this branch.

The collection from my home to pick up the vehicle was fine, but that's where the good service ended.

The problems started immediately at the branch:

Vehicle Not Ready: The car hadn't been prepped or cleaned, and I was left waiting for half an hour for them to sort it out.

Wrong Vehicle: We were supposed to get a like-for-like replacement for our seven-seater family car but were given a much smaller five-seater.

Poor Condition: The car they provided was pretty battered, with numerous scratches all over it. Thankfully, I was advised to take plenty of photos as proof.

Filthy Interior & Exterior: The inside of the car stunk of stale smoke, and the windscreens were filthy. The exterior was so dirty that a warning light came on for the parking sensors, stating they were blocked.

Unhelpful Staff: When I asked basic questions, like what fuel the car took, the representative had to get in the car to check and then completely veered off the subject without giving me an answer.

The return process was even worse. I arranged for them to collect the car from my home, and they gave me a window of 8 am to 5 pm. We waited in all day, only to receive a call at the end of the day to say they wouldn't be collecting it until the following day. A completely wasted day.

On the second day, I was told I'd get a call an hour before collection. That call came at 2 pm, but the driver didn't arrive until almost 6 pm.

Upon inspection, he pointed out a deep scratch, which I was thankfully able to prove was pre-existing with the photos I'd taken. He then insisted the fuel tank had less fuel than when I collected it and that I had to top it up to the original level - a requirement that was never mentioned to me at pickup. I then had to drive to a petrol station to refuel the car and bring it back.

Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. What concerns me most is that by failing to collect the car on the agreed day, Enterprise was able to invoice the third-party insurer for an extra day's rental. While it wasn't my money, it feels like a very sneaky business practice. Had I been a private renter paying for this myself, I would have been absolutely furious.

Simply the best

Over the last month I have been involved in the hire of two vehicles, a van and a car. The staff were polite ptofesional and extreemly helpful. The entire process for both was so efficient. I dealt with a number of staff members, all new their job so I can only conclude that the training is the best and their systems are ace. Well done to all at enterprise Wexford branch if only I could say the same about the Autobody repair shop.

We broke down

We broke down. Roadside assistance left us stranded with no tow truck available, no uber, no Lyft, no replacement car and no help. Stranded in the middle of Virginia with no options.

The worst car rental experience ever

The worst car rental experience ever – avoid at all costs!

Please, do yourself a favor and never rent a car from this company. I had booked and paid full price a vehicle with them two months in advance for our family holiday, just to avoid any hassle on arrival day. But when we got to the Enterprise counter in Berlin, we were told by the staff member, Mr. Tuerk Onur (supposedly the assistant manager), that they had no car available for us. We were very confused, since they didn't give us any notification prior to the arrival.

We were a group of six with five large suitcases and children, yet the only option they offered was a 7-seater, which clearly couldn’t accommodate us. When we asked for help, Mr. Onur casually dismissed us, saying there was nothing he could do and that we’d have to contact the broker ourselves for a refund. He then abruptly walked away and went inside while we were still trying to resolve the issue.

There was zero assistance, empathy, or responsibility from their team. It was shocking how unprofessional and rude the staff were. Despite our obvious frustration, they laughed and chatted among themselves in their own language, showing no concern at all.

To make things worse, they became extremely defensive when my 71-year-old father was using his phone—they assumed he was filming them. They also accused my 6-year-old son, who was simply playing on an iPad, of filming. How can a 6 years old boy filming? Very ridiculous. They even called the police over this ridiculous claim.

Ironically, once the police arrived, Mr. Onur suddenly became very polite and professional. The police ended up forcing them to write an official cancellation letter, which we needed as proof for our broker.

In the end, we were able to cancel thanks to the police we have a written proof from the company, which they refuse to give in the beginning. We ended up book another car from a different rental company at the airport and pay an extra €1,000 because we booked very last minute. This entire experience was stressful, upsetting, and unacceptable—especially when traveling with kids and elderly family members.

Avoid this company at all costs. They are unreliable, unprofessional, and showed absolutely no customer care.

Do not trust! It’s a racket to sting customers.

Having used them for a few years, I generally trusted their representatives to be diligent in highlighting damages to vehicles and adhering to their policies. On collecting a van from Belfast, I was assured there was no damage, asked to sign then handed the keys and left to it. In the pouring rain I could not see any obvious damage other than a small scuff to the lower front bumper. On arrival at my destination I was informed that the scuff on the bumper was major damage (the branch who provided the vehicle initially disputed this but later retraced that) and that a scratch on the bonnet was also billable. I feel this may have been in intentional setup (trick a customer to cover up damages missed previously) or just the original branch having a different understanding of damage just not recording it. The customer support has been bitty and inconsistent, other than when they were happy to charge me 2k for the pleasure of repairing pre-existing damage to their fleet. My advice, avoid like the plague or be prepared to get stung - do not trust!

I made a reservation for July 4th…

I made a reservation for July 4th holiday to visit family well in advance of the holiday. I called to confirm the mini-van I needed was available. I then got a call 3 days from pick up saying there was a recall on mini-vans. Fine these things happen without notice but what I did not appreciate was the only solution offered was to rebook another reservation online. AND there was no offer of any way to resolve that fact that I now had to scramble for a rental. The person was quick to get off the phone after delivering the news and offering nothing. DO BETTER!!!

Picked up a State of a Luton Van, now being harrassed for damage claim

Picked up a Luton, keyed all over, smashed centre console, I questioned it, and they assured me the damage had all been recorded on their system. When I dropped it off the guy had no record of the damage and opened a claim, the original branch phoned twice after, said nothing to worry about I wasn’t liable, and it was clearly logged in the system. Now their Damage Claims team are harassing me for the Bill. Lied to 3 times by the branch, stressful and appalling treatment!

Reserved a rental car in Sun City…

Reserved a rental car in Sun City Center Florida. We were given a confirmation number and email for a mini van. Showed up to the Enterprise car rental location in Sun City Center and was told our minivan “reserved” at 12:00pm was not available at the time promised. The attendant told me they expected the minivan at 2:00pm. At 3:45 I called and was told it could be a little longer. As I pressed for a more accurate time the attendant informed me at that time that the car would not be available until Monday, this was Friday. Hotel reservations lost for the first night and lost. Broken promises and bad business is all this company does. Don’t ever book Enterprise…Horribly managed business. I will go out of my way to avoid this business.

Ridiculous Experience from Enterprise

We reserved a truck rental a month in advance. Spoke to a sales associate the day before the rental was to be picked up to confirm everything. All was on schedule, per the sales associate. We went to pick up the rental and they had multiple excuses as to why they didn’t have the truck rental on the property. They even tried to get us to wait 2 hours for them to get it brought to us from a different state! Ridiculous! This truck rental was for a family vacation that was severely impacted because of the poor business conducted by Enterprise.

ABSOLUTE COWBOY COMPANY

ABSOLUTE COWBOY COMPANY, DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND GO ELSEWHERE JUST TO SAVE STRESS ALONE!! I went to collect the vehicle to be told my rental had been cancelled, they couldn't say who by or the reasons why but we continue... I was showed around a vehicle and I asked if I was able to pay the security deposit on my debit card, I was told yes of course. I had also been told the security deposit would not be taken, ONLY HELD, until the car is returned, great! The vehicle itself was given to me with an EMPTY tank, never had a rental company do that before but ok. The day before the rental was due back I noticed the security deposit had actually been taken out of my bank but didn't give it too much thought due to what I had been advised by their staff. I returned the car to be told my security deposit had been TAKEN AS A PAYMENT DUE TO ME USING A DEBIT CARD AND I SHOULD HAVE READ IT IN THE TERMS & CONDITIONS!! THE MANAGER EVEN AGREED THAT PEOPLE DON'T USUALLY SIT AND READ THEM ALL BUT INSINUATED IT WAS TOUGH LUCK AND A ME ISSUE AS I HADN'T MEMORISED ALL THE T&C's!! I had an anxiety attack as that is money I needed to feed my children and now had to walk away with NOTHING but anxiety, worry and stress and no available funds to feed my children. The manager either acted dumb like there was absolutely NOTHING he can do to help me. This company is all about take, take, take! They do not care about their customers nor their reputation. Had I of looked here and saw it only had a 2* review I may have looked at other options. I don't normally leave reviews but the amount of stress they have caused and also the disregard that company have treated me with, I had to leave a review. If you choose to use these cowboys, go through every

Enterprise refused to hand over a prepaid car, broke the contract, charged me for their own refusal — 10 days without resolution, preparing legal action.

I am deeply disappointed with my experience at Enterprise Kassel. On May 20, 2025, I rented a car via Rentalcars.com (contract no. 897T90) with a 4000 km limit. Anticipating an overrun, I proactively visited the Kassel office on June 6 and was clearly told by an employee that I could extend the rental by one week under the terms of the original contract — €201.76 with 1000 km included. I was even encouraged to make a second booking, which I did via Rentalcars.com for June 17–24 (booking no. 736209773), prepaid in full.

However, when I returned the car on June 17 and attempted to activate the second booking, I was shocked to be refused the car. An employee named Tyler F. claimed that because I wanted legal clarification regarding the additional €198.49 charge for mileage, they no longer "trusted" me and cited a vague "security concern." This refusal came despite:
- full prepayment
- a clean rental history
- confirmed availability of the same car
- and their own prior verbal assurances.

Even worse, I was not shown the mileage reading at return, and the return form was completed without my signature. The mileage charge appears arbitrary and unverifiable. I was forced to take a taxi, disrupting my travel and plans.

Rentalcars.com did refund the unused second booking and the €7.50 taxi cost. However, no constructive solution was offered, and Enterprise has not provided a proper explanation or apology. Despite 10 days of correspondence, Enterprise remains unresponsive.

I’ve now submitted the case to a lawyer and initiated a claim under my legal insurance. If no resolution is reached shortly, this matter will proceed to formal legal action.

I caution anyone considering Enterprise – especially in Kassel – to proceed with great care. When a company breaks its own promises, refuses service on shaky grounds, and then bills you for something that could have been prevented by honoring their agreement, it shows disregard not only for the law, but for basic decency.

As a foreigner living in Germany, I couldn't help but feel that I was treated with less respect and seriousness than a local customer. The moment I calmly mentioned consulting a lawyer, the branch manager abruptly refused to hand over the prepaid vehicle, citing "trust issues" and "security concerns." It left me with the clear impression that they assumed, perhaps due to my accent or background, that I would not stand up for my rights — a deeply disappointing and discriminatory attitude.

Amazing to deal with

Always a brilliant experience with Enterprise. I originally booked an Astra but none were available, so they upgraded me to a gorgeous Skoda Kamiq SUV for free — absolute win! As a regular customer, I get a reduced deposit too. The SUV should’ve been €500, but they only charged me €100 (an Astra would’ve been €250).

The staff are super friendly and easy to deal with. Extending the rental is literally just a quick phone call. One time my extension payment wouldn’t go through (for a van rental months back), but they told me not to stress — wasn’t my fault — and they just deducted it from the deposit.

Honestly, they’re the only company I’ve found willing to rent to a newly qualified driver. Which I totally respect, because holding a licence for years doesn’t automatically make someone a good driver — good habits and safe driving do.

Couldn’t recommend them more!

Oh, and they don’t charge to visit Northern Ireland while most other rental companies will charge you a fee of a few hundred.

However, to go to mainland UK it WILL cost you 300 to be allowed to bring the car from Ireland

One-Star Review:

Avoid Enterprise Rotherham – Complete Scam.

This has been one of the worst rental experiences I’ve ever had. I collected the vehicle from the Leicester branch and immediately noticed it was missing a parcel shelf and had a chip in the windscreen. I informed staff at Leicester of the damage, but when I dropped the car off at Enterprise Rotherham, they claimed there were no notes on their system and held me liable.

I was rushed through the initial inspection, and now they’ve taken nearly £500 from my bank account without properly investigating the dispute. Despite raising this with Enterprise directly, they’ve done nothing to resolve it — just took the money. It feels like a deliberate tactic, and I’m now in the process of filing for court action to recover my losses.

I strongly advise anyone thinking of renting from Enterprise to think twice. Check everything, document everything, and don’t trust their process — this was a complete scam.

It's all about the people!

I just picked up a new Tesla Y in Oneida NY. Had to rent a car from Rochester NY to go to Oneida NY to drop it off. Plan was to walk from there to drop off point for Tesla. Wasn't looking forward to the walk! Go to Oneida and met the BEST enterprise employee, and I have met hundreds over the years! Shout out to the Mgr there! Calmed me down, and even drove me so I wouldn't have to walk!

Unjust Damage Charge – Enterprise Rent-A-Car Ireland

I recently rented a vehicle from Enterprise in Ireland and returned it in the exact condition I received it—with photographic evidence to prove it. Despite this, my credit card was charged for €499 for smoke damage the day after. When I queried the issue, it was noted that smoke damage had already been reported in the vehicle and the charge was refunded. The next business day after this, I received an email to say that they were pursuing me for damages to the car bumper.

Thankfully, I had the foresight to take thorough photos before driving off the lot, and they clearly show the damage in question was already present. This kind of “damage billing” practice is not just disappointing—it borders on predatory, particularly for customers who don’t think to document everything themselves.

It shouldn’t be the customer’s job to catch the company out in these situations. I’m raising this not only to defend myself, but to prevent others from being subjected to similar treatment. I urge Enterprise to review how they handle vehicle inspections and damage claims. I’ve also submitted complaints to the appropriate regulatory bodies in Ireland to ensure this does not go unnoticed.

This is an unacceptable practice, and I hope sharing my experience will help other customers stay informed and protected.

Enterprise are liars, took money from me and will not prove they came to my house!

Enterprise Insisted on me having a hire car after my car was hit and I got in touch with my insurance company, my car was still drivable.
I had both cars on my drive for a few weeks and always responded to any correspondence
1 day out of the blue after regularly communicating with Enterprise they said they were coming to collect the hire car, I informed them that my damaged car had still not been sorted but agreed for them to collect that afternoon 1-3, I made sure I was home for the agreed time.
Nobody turned up so I assumed they had the day wrong as I had been told a couple of different dates.
A week went by then another call from Enterprise saying they were coming to collect the hire car and I was being charged.
I immediately disputed this and just wanted rid of the hire car, my old car still had not been collected.
Another collection date was arranged for the following day.
Weirdly the following day both the hire car and my damaged car were both collected leaving me with no car.
The next day Enterprise took over £355 out of my account, I called up and spoke to an Emily and a Danny, I said that nobody had come to collect the hire car when they said they were going to and he said he would look into it.
He did not get back to me, I have tried contacting Enterprise on many occasions over the last few months via, email and calls.

They are liars, nobody came, when asked for proof they cannot provide any, a large company ripping off customers!

I would never recommend this company for this reason!

Don't chance it!

Enterprise car rental strands you in the desert.

DO NOT use Enterprise car rental or buy/rent ANY Nissan Rogue. THEY LEFT US STRANDED IN THE DESERT !!! Was on a trip through the Mojave desert in 110 heat with three adults and two little girls and the Nissan Rogue we rented from Enterprise broke down on the highway after about an hour of total travel. Enterprise would NOT send a tow truck, uber, or any other help. The highway patrol in the area said it is a reoccurring problem with Enterprise and Nissan Rogues that Enterprise is continuously leaving their customers stranded in dead vehicles. They wanted us to call California Highway Patrol and have them drive us in police vehicles 80 miles to the nearest enterprise rental car and get a new car, all of which would have been closed by the time we arrived (it was afternoon when the car broke down). They would not send an Uber because they claimed we had to be in a city to get an Uber; i.e, lying that Uber can’t pick you up on the side of the road. Our destination was Las Vegas, the closest 24-hour-enterprise was in Las Vegas, and the AAA tow truck driver who ended up helping us said he would have had to drive the busted Nissan to the Las Vegas Enterprise anyway. They would not send us towards our destination, but all other directions East, West, and South from which we would have come and would have taken longer than getting to our destination. Stupid. All they had to do was send an agent out with a new car to their broken-down car, get us on our way, and take care of it on their end later. Our impression was that they stalled to make us pay to tow their car, which we did, having no choice. They were prepared to stall us out in the desert to not have to pay for us to complete the trip we rented their car for. They told us we couldn’t leave their vehicle; that is, they cared more about their broken Nissan than our lives in the remote desert. The Nissan Rogue only had 40,000 miles of it when it busted. AAA, however, saved the day, I recommend you get them for auto insurance or keep them if you have them. They picked us up before Enterprise even had a tow truck lined up. AAA had no problem towing us to Las Vegas.
