Extremely Unprofessional Service and Unlawful Handling of Personal Data by ekar
I am writing this review after being a loyal customer of @ekar for three years, and I feel compelled to share my incredibly frustrating experience in the hopes of sparking change.
The management and call center of ekar have been utterly unprofessional, disrespectful, and dismissive. On May 7th at 22:14, I spoke with a representative named Mohammad. When I asked him about a charge of 2 AED on my account, he mentioned that I had 2 separate payments of one dirham each, totaling two dirhams. However, when I inquired about the purpose of this charge, Mohammad’s response was sarcastic and unhelpful. He claimed there was no pending payment, even though he had previously told me there was a two-dirham charge. This lack of clarity left me frustrated, as there is no penalty fee of two dirhams, and I have never been informed of such a charge.
However, my biggest concern is the unlawful handling of my personal data. After clearing all dues, I officially requested that e-car delete my personal information and documents from their database, as I no longer have any business with them. Despite this, ekar continues to retain my information, which I believe is a violation of data protection laws. To date, I have received no meaningful response or action regarding this request. The company’s failure to comply with this basic customer right is deeply concerning.
I want to also specify that, as someone who has lived in the UAE for 6 years, I am fully aware of my rights under UAE’s consumer and federal laws. I have 100% right to request that a company delete my personal information, including my Emirates ID, personal mobile number, driving license, and other details. However, some of e-car's team members claim that my personal information is still in their database, while others say there are no attachments, yet they admit my personal details remain. This is clearly a violation of consumer law and my rights, and ekar must take responsibility for this illegal activity. They must answer to both me and the relevant government authorities for these actions, which are completely against the law.
In contrast to the negative experience with the call center, I want to commend Andrew, one of ekar representatives, who is the only person I have encountered during my three years with e-car that was genuinely professional, polite, and calm. Andrew answered all my questions thoroughly and respectfully, reflecting the kind of service every customer should expect from a company.
Unfortunately, despite the professionalism shown by Andrew, ekar management has continued to ignore my requests and concerns, which has only made the situation worse. I have been trying to resolve this for months, but their management remains silent, showing a complete disregard for their customers.
I am now asking the relevant government authorities to take immediate action and investigate the overall service provided by ekar. It is clear that many others are also dissatisfied with the company’s customer service and charges, and I hope this review will help prompt an investigation into their practices.
