Horrific Medical Service

Whatever you do, do not surrender your licence to DVLA for medical conditions. It will take them forever to get it back to you. I reapplied for my licence after a year of it being surrendered and it's been three months and I gave heard nothing back and can't get through on the phones. Worse than useless.

DVLA is a total shambles

My wife’s license expired last week.
So today the on-line service didn’t help so she rang up and this is what they said?
Unfortunately on-line you need a passport to continue.

So robbing us of more money dvla ?????
So as we don’t have a local post office we have to travel 7 miles just to get a license renewal.

DVLA YOUR A JOKE

Every document that I or other bodies…

Every document that I or other bodies no matter how important seems to mysteriously dissappear or not get to them. Very concerning considering the information is supposed to be private and confidential. The staff are also completely not bothered nor try to be and if you do get someone polite it's pointless asking them anything as they know nothing.

Very fast tax refund ...

I sold my car to a dealership 6 days ago. Today I received official notification that it had been sold on and a cheque for unused tax. I am very impressed by the speed of communication. Thank you! Just waiting for the V5C for my new car now.

Online/phone tax service doesn't work

Its a shame that such a 'critical' service/organisation, is also such a useless one.

For heavens sake DVLA sort your systems out. Tried to tax car online, and then over phone. Failed both times "insurance details couldnt be found". Checked on the Motor Insurance Database, just to be sure, and my car is registered as insured.

Its despicable that THIS is the type of service, and lack of human response (almost every communication method they use is automated), we get from a 𝗣𝗨𝗕𝗟𝗜𝗖𝗟𝗬 𝗙𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗗 𝗢𝗥𝗚𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗦𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡!!😡

Trying to renew your driving licence is…

Trying to renew your driving licence is an absolute nightmare with gov.uk. It's probably easier to learn to fly a plane in 2 hours or learn chess blindfolded. 4 times I tried and it won't scan properly with NFC. Now just gonna go to post office. Shame I can only give one star. It's more like - 10.

Poor customer service.

Customer service was abrupt and lacking empathy; I’ve been waiting for months just for any sort of update on a medical questionnaire for a provisional license, so I had rang to find out if there was anything wrong with my application. I was then spoken to as if I were 5 years old, despite me being nothing but polite. Absolutely terrible first experience.

It’s a shame there isn’t a lower score…

It’s a shame there isn’t a lower score than one star. The DVLA has got to be the worst government department to deal with.
I’ve experienced miscommunication, abruptness, inexperience and unacceptable delay in getting my license renewed.
In contrast the UK Passport Office has been superb at every level.
I just don’t understand why one government department can be so good whilst another can be so appalling.

A one year nightmare

A one year nightmare. A doctor wrote i was unfit to drive out of malice. I got another doctor to write i was fit to drive. But even that was not enough for them
The second doctor has left now. Where do i see a doctor GP's have catchment areas. Psychiatrists are nasty pieces of work who stalk you for life. I would not go near one. My driving is exemplary and excellent. I'm an academic philosopher/ christian/ book publisher/ poet/ painter. I'm now in there last two stages being made ill and homeless. The letting agent are going to give me a section 21 any day. My entire life has been destroyed over one year. And i can see no way out or hope. And i am likely homeless in weeks. I now have not been allowed to drive for 14 months.

DVLA run by incompetent people.

Exactly the same than the previous 1 start review.
I went through a nightmare as didn’t update my tax disc on time. Same problem.
Have you noticed most reviews are 1 start? Something must have been done wrong.
Or might be a way of “legally” for stealing money from poor citizens and pay off their outrageous salaries?
The DVLA is run by incompetent people.
My move was a little disjointed. Not moving directly from one property to the other and apparently tax reminders going anywhere, then fine threats until I managed to get into the new property and get a new V5.
Then it was the Debt collectors for not updating my details fast enough and accurately. Really?
The point is, why are we not doing things with a more electronic approach than an A4 paper booklet?
It's old fashioned and an easy way to rob us all.

Potential credit card scam by DVLA!

I went online to pay my Road Tax and have to pay a mere £20 for the year. It’s been nil for past years but, like everything, it has been reviewed to bring in even more money for this government to throw away! I saw the option to pay by credit card, only to read that they had an admission fee of £2.50. That works out at 12.5% charge to pay by credit card- if a company did that, they would likely be slated and possibly fined…..so how can DVLA get off with that? it’s virtual theft at its worst! No wonder most of the public hate the government!
They can now wait until the date it’s due for their payment and I’m NOT paying by credit card!
