Formal Complaint Regarding Mishandling of Vehicle Rental and Subsequent Loss by Coop by Ryder
This letter serves as a formal complaint regarding the severe mishandling of a vehicle rental facilitated through the Coop by Ryder platform, resulting in the complete loss of my 26-foot box truck and significant financial hardship.
In 2022, I listed my vehicle on the Coop by Ryder platform for rental. A rental agreement was executed with a client from New York. On the scheduled return date, I was contacted by the New York Police Department, who informed me that my vehicle was implicated in theft incidents. The police were able to identify my vehicle through the DOT number.
Immediately following this communication, I contacted Coop by Ryder to report the situation. I was advised to await the vehicle's return and assured that Coop by Ryder would address any subsequent issues. Despite these assurances, the renter failed to return the vehicle.
I promptly notified Coop by Ryder, who stated they would initiate a recovery process. Several days later, I was contacted by a mechanic requesting authorization for repairs on my vehicle. I explicitly instructed the mechanic not to release the vehicle to the renter and immediately informed Coop by Ryder of its location.
Despite repeated assurances that a recovery team would retrieve the vehicle, and numerous follow-up calls, Coop by Ryder failed to recover my truck. I was subsequently informed that the vehicle was "undeliverable" and remained at the mechanic's facility. For months, I received consistent but ultimately fruitless updates regarding the vehicle's status.
As this vehicle was my sole source of income, I relied on the stipend provided by Coop by Ryder. After six months, Coop by Ryder ceased providing the stipend. Upon requesting proof of possession, I received photographic evidence of the vehicle, only to be informed that it had been transferred to another mechanic.
Subsequently, I received a notification on the Coop by Ryder application indicating that the vehicle had been returned to me. Simultaneously, my account was closed, and Coop by Ryder demanded repayment of the previously provided stipend.
Despite repeated attempts to resolve this matter, Coop by Ryder has provided no satisfactory resolution. As a direct result of their negligence and mismanagement, I have suffered the following:
* Complete loss of my 26-foot box truck.
* Loss of my primary source of income, resulting in severe financial hardship.
* Business closure.
* Ongoing emotional distress and hardship for my family.
* Unresolved vehicle recovery.
This incident has had a devastating impact on my life. I request a thorough investigation into this matter and demand the immediate return of my vehicle or full compensation for its loss. Furthermore, I request a full refund of any monies they are requesting from me.
I strongly advise others to exercise extreme caution when using the Coop by Ryder platform.

This is literally the worse business decision I have ever made. I had a lease truck from ryder that they convinced me to put through there Coop program. The renter of my truck fueled constantly at ryder locations, in which I was responsible for, then they get a 30day net to pay me back.. so I'm paying 1000s while the renter is Scott free... there collections SUCK.. my truck was returned 33 days ago and I am still fighting to get paid for 4 months ago owing momey and thee last month.. I am told by COOPS supervisors that I am lucky to be have been paid anything as they can't collect from the renter.. this has been the worse experience ever as a leasor... I do not recommend this to anyone and it seems as I'm gonna have to get an attorney involved to get the momey that is owed to me.. COOP is a complete joke and waste of time. Ryder won't do anything even thought they own coop because it's 2 different companies.. If you don't pay your ryder bill they come take the truck.. but coop owes you money good luck getting it.. it's a complete scam and joke of a company.

Be careful when things seem too good to be true. I’ve been in business since July 2020 I considered using Ryder since they’re a big company. I assume they would give me best deal. I became a bit skeptical and decided to go with a different dealer a few months later a friend of mine Decided to give them a try, literally drove the truck from Pennsylvania to Georgia, and the truck broke down. He had a hard time with the blown engine he received. This was in my thoughts When I had a big breakdown on my truck, and I considered using Ryder for a rental until my truck got fixed I decided to just take a much-needed break… fast forward to today. I did a quick google search for trailer rentals in my area. First thing pops up is these guys at first I didn’t see the Ryder name but even after I noticed it, I decided to give them a try. I filled out the form, requesting a trailer in my area and of course I got the approval emails and even a phone call from one of the very professional representatives within the next 30 minutes to an hour. Very prompt response. I’m thinking this is a go and I’ll use these guys anytime my truck breaks down. I asked the guy on average. How much would it be for a dry trailer the guy stated around $20 a day, so of course I had to check it out. Literally these people are trying to charge people $2000 a month for Trailer rental and you only can pull the trailer 250 miles daily. Of course passing the third grade I didn’t go for this and kept searching and ended up finding newer better trailers with unlimited miles On the Facebook marketplace between 500 and $800 …. I will be picking up one of those tomorrow… Now I’m at the end of my day, and I just received an email stating a very polite message that they monitored me as I went over the trailers. I looked at at wanted to know how they could help me further…. at this point, I’m curious what the reviews say of course on their website there’s a whole bunch of five star reviews probably written by the staff. All I can say is everything that glitters isn’t gold beware.

“STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY” I rented a truck from this company last year around this time and everything’s was going smoothly until my co driver was in accident ((NOT AT FAULT ACCIDENT)) there was two different parties that hit the truck I was told that they only received money from one party and could not find the other and that it left a balance! The truck did have some body work issues but it still drove fine! Impact was at very slow speeds due to ice! I kept in contact with the owner and had an understanding that once repairs were made that I would bring the truck back and I was fine with that ! Well come to find out the truck was sent back at the owners request and I am now smacked with a 3,500 dollar bill saying that I am responsible because I didn’t bring the unit back! That I backed out of the agreement I have emails recorded calls that says other wise! This company is very unprofessional and one big scam !
