Chuze Fitness
I am a More member of the new Chuze gym in Temple City, CA. When I saw both the regular sauna and the infrared sauna were down, I asked to see when it will get fixed. The manager of the club, whose name is Daniella, immediately blamed members for the issues. She said some members were pouring water into the rocks and some were messing with the control panels of the infrared saunas. I asked her for the panels location and went to take a look and saw that they are placed near the control panels for the gravity chairs. I made a suggestion to Daniella to put a protective cage around the sauna panels because right now it does not have one as well as putting up a sign on the door of the regular sauna in English/Chinese/Spanish (since their patron demographic is very diverse) advising members not to pour water on the rocks if that was the issue. Daniella said there is already a sign outside of the sauna telling members not to pour water into it. Although there is one, it is only in English and located on the wall which no one pay any attention to. Daniella also said that the members are informed of this when they sign up for their memberships. I personally don't remember these rules were communicated with me upon my signing up, but I will take her words for it. Daniella insisted that the club has done its part and refused to take my suggestions into consideration. Instead, she kept repeating that same mantra " we did our part".
This club just opened last December and there are already issues with broken equipment that stayed broken for weeks. On top of that, the manager is a joke. She has neither public relation skills nor management skills. How she thought placing blames on members to a member is a good public relation move is beyond me.
If you are considering joining Chuze, I would suggest taking your money elsewhere because clearly, they don't care about their customers. They take your money and blame you for broken equipment as an excuse for not keeping them in good order.
Update: I came back to the gym a few days later and the manager has taken my suggestion and put up a sign to deter gym members from messing with the infrared sauna panels. In addition, both saunas have been fixed temporarily. I thanked the manager for taking my concerns into consideration.
